Ever since the new iPhoto update came out, I can't run iPhoto as it wants to update, and can't seem to complete the update.

I am unable to update iPhoto and Garage band. They were preinstalled on my new iMAC and App Store does not recognize my Apple ID requesting that I use the one "originally used to purchase the software", but the program was preinstalled and I only have one ID?!

After recent update I can no longer open my iphoto. (Pop-up window states that it is trying to update, that older versions iphoto will no longer be readable with older versions)After 2 hours of waiting for it to upgrade still no response. What do I do to be able to view iphoto library?

i have returned all my photos into the new iphoto 9.1.However they aren't displayed the way they used to be. The computer is ignoring all the dates i entered on the individual film rolls and displaying them with date that's embedded on the digital images. An example is i have a film roll which contains photos of my cat Salem which range from 2004 to 2012. This 'folder' used to be displayed at the bottom of all the film rolls as i had it dated 12/25/2020 so i knew where it was and could add to it easily. Now though it's near the top lumped together with 2004 photos dated 2004-2012.How do i get iPhoto to display my photo film rolls the way they were on iphoto 6?I would go back to running TIiger and the apps that came with it including iPhoto 06 but i need snow leopard as i have bought two new Lacie 2 TB drives for storage and they need a newer operating system.

I have just installed the iPhoto 8.0.2 update on my Powerbook G4 and, after 5 seconds of opening the application, it crashes/hangs. I have to force quit it in order to exit out of it. I have modified the slideshow files so that all the slideshows can play on my powerbook g4 if that helps at all. If I revert back to 8.0 or 8.0.1, iPhoto doesn't crash.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI tried to organize my Applications a little better, and created a sub called iLife '09. Moved my iPhoto there, and it runs just fine, but Software Update totally missed the 8.1 update and even manually downloaded I couldn't get it to update till I moved it back to the Applications root. So are we basically stuck with leaving things where they are or moving them around to get updated and back again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Macbook Air 11" (July 2011 model) which came preinstalled with Lion (can't remember the version) and iLife 11. Â
On my first boot I noticed that the Mac App Store popped up a few updates and one of the updates was iPhoto 9.2.3. When I attempted to install the update, I was prompted to first update my Mac OS as the update was not applicable to my (then) Mac OS version. Â
I promptly updated my Lion version to 10.7.3 through Software Updates and attempted the iPhoto update again - nada! Mac App Store now says: "This update is not available", "You Must have previously purchased this item ..." and then prompts me to 'buy' the item (iPhoto 11?). Â
I haven't clicked on the 'buy' button in the fear of being charged to my linked Apple ID account and I am wondering why I am supposed to buy iPhoto when my MBA came preinstalled with iLife 11.Â

I was just doing What I thought was a standard software upgrade of iPhoto when, during the restart it said something unexpected had happened or something like that and just froze. Now when I try to restart I get the white screen with the apple , then an error message "pnic(CPU 0 caller 0xfffff800064ba7b): unable to find driver for this platform: ..." and it keeps going on Another box says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button..." when I do this, it just comes back to the same place. Â

My initial pleasure with the speed of my new-to-me Mac Pro (8 core) is turning to frustration as Lion and iPhoto get glitchier and slower with each update. Tonight, while simply saving a file in iPhoto, it crashed and took 97 seconds to reopen and stabilize (SBOD). I've seen posts as far back as early 2010 regarding iPhoto '11 being slow and unstable. Before being forced to "upgrade" my iPhoto library to accomodate the latest iPhoto update, I saved a copy, with the notion of returning to the previous iteration of iPhoto which always served me well. Has anybody tried this with Lion? I'm also considering going back to Snow Leopard.

How can I update iPhoto and iVideo from Mavericks?

My upgrade seems to crash iPhoto and I have not been able to get iPhoto working. When I started iPhoto for the first time after the iLife update it had the usual "this library must be updated to work with this version of iPhoto" (that might not be the exact wording). Thoughtlessly I approved the dialogue as usual. The upgrade process made it through the first quick progress bar, but nearly immediately after starting the second progress bar iPhoto crashed. After restarting my mbp and opening iPhoto I got the same result. I even went so far as to reinstall the new iPhoto. Based on previous issues I tried holding option-command while starting iPhoto to get the rebuild dialogue and again the rebuild crashed iPhoto. Has anyone else been having the same issues or have any insight on how to resolve the issue?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI put in a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT HD in my 2010 15" MBP 2.66 GHz i7. I have read conflicting reports about it's effectiveness on both Macs and PCs; however I decided to try it. Overall, I have not had any major issues. Install was painless, including formatting and backup from TM. Now, last night and today, I have tried to use (1) iTunes and (2) iPhoto without the results I was seeking.
1) iTunes does not seem to even want to open correctly. It sits empty with my music tab selected. It seems more like it has frozen than anything else. All my music files are where they were before, so that hasn't changed. I have made sure it is pointing to the correct folder, which it is. I have also tried importing the library, and creating a new library all together. It runs through all the artist folders acting like it is importing them or the artwork, but then nothing ever shows up. Neither option works. When I try to navigate through iTunes, it does not happen. My apps and ringtones do not appear either, which is why I think it has something to do with locating my files, or a hiccup when displaying the lists. I tried Option-click to get my library, and that didn't work. I also deleted and reinstalled iTunes with no success.......................
I notice a lot of people are having this problem when it comes pre installed.
I can't update from the appstore and I can't update from the program itself. When I use software update it will say all software is up to date.
I checked the versions of the software that I have installed and they are not the new, current versions so yes i do need to update
App store says I need to update Garage Band and Iphoto but I need to use the other account that was used to purchase the software.
I have only ever had one account. This is not cool I have had this computer for 4 months now and this problem has been on going for 3.5 months
I have a new macbook pro and osx lion was pre installed along with garageband iphoto and iMovie

iPhoto 9.2.3 update.  I can not get this update badge to go away.  I have never purchased iPhoto through the App store so I don't know why it even shows up. I knew I had updated iPhoto already but wanted to see what it said when I clicked on the update and I got the following error: Â
iPhoto is already installed on this computer.
Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.Â
Of course, I had updated my iPhoto when it came out for my desktop a while ago and can't get this annoying badge to disappear.

Try deleting the cache and .plist files associated with the App Store. Go to [URL] Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash. Now go to [URL] Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac. So now what do I do since they have totally left me? I still have this dumb badge showing. I purchased my iPhoto through iLife and the update will not go away. [URL]

I got a new MacBook Pro (very happy!) and it came with iPhoto and Garage Band. I had not upgraded before, so these were 'new' for me. They seem to have been added to my Apple account - they appear as 'purchased' in the App Store, But when I try to update them, I get this message: "You have updates available for other accounts" and "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

An update for iPhoto '11 was available recently, and I installed it on my computer without thinking twice about it. I use the application for my business and it has worked very well up until I installed the update. Now, however, several of the features that I need are much less responsive due to the update. Is there any way that I can remove the update and restore the application to the way it was before the update?
