I have just installed the iPhoto 8.0.2 update on my Powerbook G4 and, after 5 seconds of opening the application, it crashes/hangs. I have to force quit it in order to exit out of it. I have modified the slideshow files so that all the slideshows can play on my powerbook g4 if that helps at all. If I revert back to 8.0 or 8.0.1, iPhoto doesn't crash.

Moved my iPhoto there, and it runs just fine, but Software Update totally missed the 8.1 update and even manually downloaded I couldn't get it to update till I moved it back to the Applications root. So are we basically stuck with leaving things where they are or moving them around to get updated and back again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy upgrade seems to crash iPhoto and I have not been able to get iPhoto working. When I started iPhoto for the first time after the iLife update it had the usual "this library must be updated to work with this version of iPhoto" (that might not be the exact wording). Thoughtlessly I approved the dialogue as usual. The upgrade process made it through the first quick progress bar, but nearly immediately after starting the second progress bar iPhoto crashed. After restarting my mbp and opening iPhoto I got the same result. I even went so far as to reinstall the new iPhoto. Based on previous issues I tried holding option-command while starting iPhoto to get the rebuild dialogue and again the rebuild crashed iPhoto. Has anyone else been having the same issues or have any insight on how to resolve the issue?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI put in a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT HD in my 2010 15" MBP 2.66 GHz i7. I have read conflicting reports about it's effectiveness on both Macs and PCs; however I decided to try it. Overall, I have not had any major issues. Install was painless, including formatting and backup from TM. Now, last night and today, I have tried to use (1) iTunes and (2) iPhoto without the results I was seeking.
1) iTunes does not seem to even want to open correctly. It sits empty with my music tab selected. It seems more like it has frozen than anything else. All my music files are where they were before, so that hasn't changed. I have made sure it is pointing to the correct folder, which it is. I have also tried importing the library, and creating a new library all together. It runs through all the artist folders acting like it is importing them or the artwork, but then nothing ever shows up. Neither option works. When I try to navigate through iTunes, it does not happen. My apps and ringtones do not appear either, which is why I think it has something to do with locating my files, or a hiccup when displaying the lists. I tried Option-click to get my library, and that didn't work. I also deleted and reinstalled iTunes with no success.......................
Don't know if anyone has made an album using iPhoto yet, but if you haven't, you should. I needed some additional portfolios to place around some places where my images are displayed, and I was really getting tired of making my own.
The quality is very good - I got the hardbound 20-page book with black pages and it looks awesome. My only complaint id that they are currently having problems accepting books with Type 1 post script fonts.Had the book in three days after ordering it right through iPhoto.
I have 7,000+ photos in my iPhoto library, many of which have been painstakingly edited. However, when I noticed yesterday that pictures I had deleted (and emptied from the iphoto trash) have reappeared in the library under the relevant 'Events' folder. Why oh why oh why? I have spent six hours already redeleting and editing. Why did this happen? How can I repeat it from happening again? Do I need to "rebuild" my library by holding down the command + option keys when opening iphoto?

I noticed in one project today that some previews that should be landscape are forced and distorted into portrait mode and vice versa in the preview. Opening the image shows the image in the correct orientation. Updating preview seems to make no difference. I'm reluctant to rebuild from masters as I have made many alterations to this project (2500 images). Here's a screenshot:

I just went on the update system for my MacBook on the UK Apple site, and clicked that I bought it online from Apple (which I did, on my Dad's apple account) and then asked me to login, so I did with my account and it asked me for serial number and purchase date, so I typed my serial number and and chose purchase date 7th Jan, rather than 1st December (when it was actually shipped) and it's just added the iLife '09 upgrade to my cart and said my system qualifies. Am I safe to go ahead and buy it? Could I get into trouble or something for lying about the purchase date?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI installed the 10.6.2 2 days ago, shut down the computer, and let it rest overnight. When I booted, I had no immediate problems. Then that whole mobileme outage thing occured. No biggie, everything functioned fine. After the outage, I had booted Mail to find that only my mobileme account was added. I tried a mail/accounts sync, but nothing happened. I re-added each other account (gmail and college) with no problems, even all the mail was still stored that had been downloaded.
Now I'm finding some little tweaks are off. My "unread messages are bold" was unticked, despite never having altered these settings. Signatures for the accounts were 50/50, with some being removed and some remaining. Anyone else experiencing weird things like this since the combo of the 10.6.2 update and mobileme? The only additional change that happened on my computer was installing Parallels 5 upgrade.

With the wired connection everything works fine but when I use a wireless connection ( I have tried this with two t-mobile wireless networks in germany at my own house and at a friend's house) all the apple aplications won't be able to acces the internet.

Is this even worth trying to setup or will it just crash? 1. Will it freak out during sync and give me the "too many simultaneous connections" error? 2. Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
I had a bunch of movies that took with my digital camera that were always imported into iPhoto when I transferred my pictures into it. I used to just be able to click on them in iPhoto and the movie would open up and play. Now it seems that my movies are gone and all that I have of my movies is the first frame as a picture and nothing else. Their file extensions used to say .mov but now are .jpg. I've tried changing the extension back to .mov but no movie is there and the file sizes are not what a movie should be.
I'm running Snow Leopard on a 13" Macbook Pro with newest version of iPhoto. I have quicktime X and Quicktime 7 installed.
When I switched to ICloud I thought my Apple ID and password would work for Apple store. It turns out they have a different Apple ID at the Apple store with a diferent password that I do not remember. HOw can I make the ICloud Apple ID and password work for all other platforms?

When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated.How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
