MacBook Pro :: Getting ITunes Crap Off Old HD

Aug 4, 2010

Long story short: My old Macbook Pro met an untimely death and I got a new one. I have the old harddrive, which I converted to an external harddrive so I could get all my old stuff off of it. I cannot seem to get the iTunes stuff off of there, though. It just isn't happening. Every time I try, it gives me the license agreement dialogue and then says some nonsense about a newer version of iTunes blahblahblah. I tried upgrading the new iTunes, but no dice.

PowerPC :: CRAP - PowerBook Lid Not Closing

Aug 25, 2005

Alright, I dont know why but suddenly just when I was about to goto bed I closed the lid and didnt hear the click. I was like wtf?! I looked at it and the little latch hadnt come down. Its kind of stuck up there. So again I try to close it, nothing. Tried it SEVERAL times and NOTHING! I got a magnet, got the little latch down and when I close it, it doesnt even go into the hole now! WTF?! It was working before I used it! I didnt drop it or anything! It just LITERALLY decided it didnt want to work. I bought this about 3-4 weeks ago and I leave for college on Saturday. Im going to the apple store I bought it from and Im raising hell if I need to. What do you guys think they can do for me tommorow when I go there? Is it an easy fix? I need it back to me ASAP. Do you think they can do that? I swear to god if they do some ghetto work like bending the latch Im going to raise hell there.

MacBook :: Crap - Can't Get Through One Youtube Video With Out Stuttering And Overheating

Sep 8, 2010

my MacBook runs like ****. It's constantly hot (CPU is always above 70*C), it can't get through one youtube video with out stuttering and overheating, it can't run my external sound card (Audio 4 DJ) in conjunction with anything else, and it can't play AVI files without freezing and bugging out. It's a 2nd gen Black MacBook with 2ghz processors, 2 gb of ram, and an upgraded WD 320 GB HD. Is this thing about to take a dump on me? Is the motherboard on its way out? Is there any chance of fixing this thing? It seems the only thing my computer is good for theses days is doing light browsing on the internet. (read light browsing = no flash and no html5.)

MacBook :: Crap - Stop Operating - Gray Screen

Same issue as when I took it in a while back: [URL] Meanwhile, the 4 yr. old HP laptop that cost half the amount of the Macbook has never had a glitch or a repair.

MacBook Air :: Crap - Open With Screen At Its Normal Up Position From The Keyboard?

Jun 13, 2008

So in a half-drunken stupor I dropped/threw my MBA on a mattress. The problem was that it was 'open', with the screen at its normal up position of maybe 135-degrees-or-so from the keyboard. Upon landing on the mattress, something in the hinge literally snapped (it sounded like a plasticky snap) and the screen went all the way backwards until it was flat - think 180 degree angle between keyboard and screen. Nothing seems to be malfunctioning yet. It's working just as before, except now there's a bigger tilt-back angle for the screen... I can tilt it back literally as much as I want. My question to you guys, assuming someone else has done this, is whether in the long run it's going to bite me in the ass. Because something definitely broke, I'm not sure whether what broke was 'important'.

I have modified the slideshow files so that all the slideshows can play on my powerbook g4 if that helps at all. If I revert back to 8.0 or 8.0.1, iPhoto doesn't crash.

Moved my iPhoto there, and it runs just fine, but Software Update totally missed the 8.1 update and even manually downloaded I couldn't get it to update till I moved it back to the Applications root. So are we basically stuck with leaving things where they are or moving them around to get updated and back again?

App Store :: Unable To Update IPhoto 9.2.3?

May 8, 2012

I recently purchased a Macbook Air 11" (July 2011 model) which came preinstalled with Lion (can't remember the version) and iLife 11.

On my first boot I noticed that the Mac App Store popped up a few updates and one of the updates was iPhoto 9.2.3. When I attempted to install the update, I was prompted to first update my Mac OS as the update was not applicable to my (then) Mac OS version.

I promptly updated my Lion version to 10.7.3 through Software Updates and attempted the iPhoto update again - nada! Mac App Store now says: "This update is not available", "You Must have previously purchased this item ..." and then prompts me to 'buy' the item (iPhoto 11?).

I haven't clicked on the 'buy' button in the fear of being charged to my linked Apple ID account and I am wondering why I am supposed to buy iPhoto when my MBA came preinstalled with iLife 11.

Mac Pro :: IPhoto Getting Slow With Each Update - Crashes Often

Jun 19, 2012

My initial pleasure with the speed of my new-to-me Mac Pro (8 core) is turning to frustration as Lion and iPhoto get glitchier and slower with each update. Tonight, while simply saving a file in iPhoto, it crashed and took 97 seconds to reopen and stabilize (SBOD). I've seen posts as far back as early 2010 regarding iPhoto '11 being slow and unstable. Before being forced to "upgrade" my iPhoto library to accomodate the latest iPhoto update, I saved a copy, with the notion of returning to the previous iteration of iPhoto which always served me well. Has anybody tried this with Lion? I'm also considering going back to Snow Leopard.

Applications :: Library Update - Crash IPhoto?

Oct 21, 2010

My upgrade seems to crash iPhoto and I have not been able to get iPhoto working. When I started iPhoto for the first time after the iLife update it had the usual "this library must be updated to work with this version of iPhoto" (that might not be the exact wording). Thoughtlessly I approved the dialogue as usual. The upgrade process made it through the first quick progress bar, but nearly immediately after starting the second progress bar iPhoto crashed. After restarting my mbp and opening iPhoto I got the same result. I even went so far as to reinstall the new iPhoto. Based on previous issues I tried holding option-command while starting iPhoto to get the rebuild dialogue and again the rebuild crashed iPhoto. Has anyone else been having the same issues or have any insight on how to resolve the issue?

Applications :: ITunes And IPhoto Not Cooperating After HD Update

Oct 29, 2010

I put in a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT HD in my 2010 15" MBP 2.66 GHz i7. I have read conflicting reports about it's effectiveness on both Macs and PCs; however I decided to try it. Overall, I have not had any major issues. Install was painless, including formatting and backup from TM. Now, last night and today, I have tried to use (1) iTunes and (2) iPhoto without the results I was seeking.

1) iTunes does not seem to even want to open correctly. It sits empty with my music tab selected. It seems more like it has frozen than anything else. All my music files are where they were before, so that hasn't changed. I have made sure it is pointing to the correct folder, which it is. I have also tried importing the library, and creating a new library all together. It runs through all the artist folders acting like it is importing them or the artwork, but then nothing ever shows up. Neither option works. When I try to navigate through iTunes, it does not happen. My apps and ringtones do not appear either, which is why I think it has something to do with locating my files, or a hiccup when displaying the lists. I tried Option-click to get my library, and that didn't work. I also deleted and reinstalled iTunes with no success.......................

App Store :: Can't Update Garage Band Or IPhoto

Mar 13, 2012

I notice a lot of people are having this problem when it comes pre installed.

I can't update from the appstore and I can't update from the program itself. When I use software update it will say all software is up to date.

I checked the versions of the software that I have installed and they are not the new, current versions so yes i do need to update

App store says I need to update Garage Band and Iphoto but I need to use the other account that was used to purchase the software.

I have only ever had one account. This is not cool I have had this computer for 4 months now and this problem has been on going for 3.5 months

I have a new macbook pro and osx lion was pre installed along with garageband iphoto and iMovie

iPhoto 9.2.3 update.   I can not get this update badge to go away.   I have never purchased iPhoto through the App store so I don't know why it even shows up.  I knew I had updated iPhoto already but wanted to see what it said when I clicked on the update and I got the following error:

iPhoto is already installed on this computer.

Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.

Of course, I had updated my iPhoto when it came out for my desktop a while ago and can't get this annoying badge to disappear.

Try deleting the cache and .plist files associated with the App Store. Go to [URL] Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash. Now go to [URL] Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac. So now what do I do since they have totally left me?  I still have this dumb badge showing.  I purchased my iPhoto through iLife and the update will not go away.  [URL]
