Jan 10, 2011I haven't been able to access my security panel in System Preference for almost 6 months and I am very concerned......
Everything else in System Preference works, but when I click on Security the program would freeze then shut itself down.....
Does anyone had the same problem and eventually solved it?
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Erase A Folder On File Sharing Panel
Apr 20, 2012Recently, I Create a some days account for a visiting son on my MacBook Pro, and after erased that account, I noticed his former previous Public Folder appeard on File Sharing, on Sharing panel, but with a finder icon. As I tried to erased it, it said I cannot access to that folder because it doesn't exist or something. I create that account again, and went back to File Sharing -folder icon was as usual- click on the (–) buttom and be asked "Are you sure you want to stop sharing the folder "Son's Public Folder"; answered "yes" but nothing happens. Tried the same with my own folder and happens exactly the same.
notice that I can add some other folder, and erase it too, but not those two. Restore premissions and have the newest Software Update's.

Jul 17, 2008So my friend and I played a trick on an intern here at work who just got a new MBP. We swapped his background out for a vista one - real simple, right.
Well, he got back and had a good chuckle about it UNTIL - the system preferences panel crashed after he tried to switch it back.
So here is the only symptom:
Open system preferences
Click "backgrounds and screensaver"
window opens, looks ok
window closes and error screen pops up saying "system preferences unexpectedly closed"

Feb 21, 2010I use the latest macos on a late 2009 mini.
I use a program called smart response. It drives electronic whiteboards and a wireless response system.
I use it at home, and I never actually connect my computer to the hardware. I use it to prepare stuff at home.
Is there a way to stop these processes from loading? I can kill them, but as a mac os newbie, I have no idea how to take control of them in the mac.
The windows equivalent would have been to go and disable the startup process under the administrative tab in the control panel.

Mac Mini :: Why Doesn't "DVD Or CD Sharing" Show Up Inside Sharing Preferences
Apr 18, 2012I've got a mac mini that i got less than 2 mos ago, and i'm trying to install ProTools onto my machine from a DVD. When i was initially configuring my machine, i checked out the Remote Disc feature, but over my lame wifi connection, things were taking way too long, and I dropped it. Now, when trying to setup this Pro Tools install, I seem to have lost the ability to use the DVD/CD sharing options in my System Preferences. The option just isn't there anymore. I have the option on my Snow Leopard MBP, and it's enabled there, and the two machines are connected on a computer-to-computer wireless connection.Â

Dec 10, 2014I've been having troubles with my finder the past few weeks. The trash would not empty unless I would "relaunch" the finder. Sometimes, even after a relaunch, the trash would still not empty. After a restart, however, I could usually empty the trash. Until todayÂ
So, I tried repairing permissions using disk utility. After permissions were fixed, I still had the problem.Â
I then deleted the following files:
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist.lockfile
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
com.apple.finder.plist.lockfile
com.apple.finder.plist
(Actually, I didn't truly delete them, I just put them in a temp folder on my desktop.)Â
The trash seems to empty just fine now, but now the preferences pane for my Finder is completely blank -- and doesn't open immediately. It looks like this:

May 24, 2008I wrote an email to the tech people on my domain service provider, Network Solutions, because I've yet to see my website load properly. I was directed to use web forwarding, and I set that up over the weekend. However, though I am hosted through MobileMe, my personal domain link takes me to a blank page. There had been an under construction page. if I am using web forwarding, should I remove the personal domain from my Mobile Me preferences? Could that be the reason it won't work?

From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Sharing.
Click the Firewall tab.
Check the iTunes Music Sharing option.
When i got to the sharing button there is not firewall tab. my computer is fully updated..where is it?

Mar 20, 2012I have two printers connected to my iMac (10.7.3) and I am trying to enable printer sharing for my MacBook Air to utilize the iMac's printers. On the iMac, I go to System Prefrences > Sharing and check Printer Sharing and I ensure that both printers are being shared. Everything is checked, but the second I close the System Prefrences window, the printer sharing stops working. I go back into System Prefrences and the Printer Sharing box is unchecked.

Feb 20, 2012How do I connect a newer 2011 27" iMac to a flat panel via a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable? I've already tried this with two different brands of flat panels (RCA and Samsung) and both get no signal. The iMac does recognize the model of flat panel connected to it, the flat panels do not recognize the iMac, nothing but a blue or black screen. Already tried powering down and resetting both the iMac and flatpanels, resetting the memory on the iMac, trying all the HDMI ports on both flatpanels. Nothing works.

May 3, 2012I have just connected my Canon Pixma MG5270 to my iMac running OSX 10.7.3 via WiFi. Printing works great, and scanning from the desktop "Canon MP Navigator EX - MG 5200 series" V 4.0.3 application works like a dream. When I try to scan via the operations panel on the printer/scanner the following comes up - Set the PC to start scanning". This worked fine when connected directly via USB cable. I have searched the web and believe I have the correct settings, particuliarly in MP Navigator:Â
1. Main Menu -> One-click -> Start scanning by clicking the button (checked)
2. Main Menu -> One-click -> Preferences -> General -> Compress scanned images when transferring (checked) -> Change -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG 5200 series_xxxxxxxxx) -> Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG5200 series_xxxxxxx)Â I have restarted the iMac and printer and always with the same result.Â

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Sharing System Preferences Freezes Entire System
Jul 3, 2012I recently took the plunge and installed Lion after being content with Snow Leopard....well now I have quite a few issues. When I open system preferences for some reason it automatically opens to Network...why I'm not sure. When I click show all, then click sharing, I can't make any changes in the Sharing preferences without my entire system locking up. I can't force quit or anything. I can still use the mouse but all I have is the rainbow wheel!
I have searched and searched and haven't been able to fix it. I have tried booting into the Guest account and the same problem happens there. I have trashed all the plist files everyone says to try. I have tried repairing permissions etc. I feel like I have tried everything. Is there anything else that I can do without have to do a clean re-install. I'm hearing if I do this that I won't be able to migrate my files from by backups due to permission problems?
I also took a look at my system log and it is full of this!

The only reason I know it's asking me for a password is because there is a space to type something.
