Safari will not connect to https sites like .mac or hotmail.
An error on .mac says the certificate was signed by an unknown certifying authority.

Yes the date and time are correct.
Firefox and Netscape both work for secure sites.
For several of the accounts on my iMac, I've set parental controls to "try and limit access to adult content" When I do this, Safari stops being able to access "https" websites such as gmail.com etc. If I set the parental controls setting to "unrestricted access" the problem goes away. I don't want the kids to have "unlimited acess" but I do want to let them access "https" sites as appropiate. I've seen several old threads on this subject, but nothing so far that I could find related to it being caused by the parental controls or how to fix it. I'm running OS X 10.6.3 on an iMac quad core. I'm also very new to the Mac world (6 month) so I'm pretty much at the beginner level.

Next step is to try throwing my laptop out the window. This only started happening yesterday and there is no issues with other sites. It's not my internet connection. I'm allowing [URL] and have multiple http and https Netflix URL's allowed. However, when I test accessing this site, Safari gives an error stating that it cannot establish a "secure connection". The same computer, with a different account, can access the same URL without the error. My assumption would be that since I specifically allowed several [URL] URL's, that this would work just fine. By granting specific access, you are bypassing Parental Controls in a controlled way.Â

I have been having this problem for a while. It happens every now and then, sometimes more often too. Sometimes at random times, when I try to access https websites in Safari such as Internet banking, signing in into eBay etc, it has an error.
It says "Safari can't open the page because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server signin.ebay.com.au". To resolve this problem I always have to turn off my Airport and then turn it back on. See screenshot - [URL]

I'ves been trying to do some research on the "secure empty trash can" option and i can't find anything useful.
I've been having this problem where i can't simply "empty trash" and have to click on "secure empty trash" as it the only thing that appears !
To empty a trash can, it deletes 1 item per second and it's getting very tiring and long. Before, i didn't have the "secure empty trash" and wish to get the normal "empty trash"
How to I make sure that I have set up a secure internet connection on my macbook pro? Our internet has been running slower the past month or so and I want to be sure I have not left my internet unsecured for someone else to log on and use. When I check the "rainbow" at the top of my screen there are usually about 6 people listed and they all have a lock after their names. Our just has our last name with a checkmark. View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to click on something to buy in the iTunes store or even to authorize my computer or even to view my Account details, I get the error:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. A secure network connection could not be established. Check that your computer's date and time are correct and try again."
I made sure my time and date are correct and such. I even did it on my iPhone and it gives me the same error. Anyone have a previous solution to this?
I've set up my Netgear DGN2000 router in bridge mode to accommodate 4 machines to connect to the internet through a PPPoE broadband connection. The mac connects through airport.
All the PC's in the setup can browse without problems.
The mac however can only log into certain secure websites (like facebook, online forums, online banking ext) but then no further browsing is possible. MSN can also not log on. Other websites seems to work just fine.
I'm running OS x 10.4.11, Firefox 3.0.8, Safari 3.0.4.
Steps I have already taken to try and solve the problem is:
Adjusted the MTU value (ranging fro 1500 to 1300) of the router and Mac airport.
Setup up the ISP DNS server ip on the router and / or Mac airport connection. I also tried certain "open" DNS ips.
Cleared the Mac DNS cache
Cleared the browser history and cookies.
I run a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel OSX 10.5.8 and have been editing video with iMovie HD 5.0.2 for several years. I recently connected my Sony DVR-2100E camcorder to iMovie, imported and edited footage. When I tried to export the edited footage back to the camera iMovie refused to recognise either of my 2 camcorders and would not connect. Although I have iMovieHD installed I do not appear to have iLife. I also have iMovieHD 5.0.2 installed on my Powerbook. When I connect either of my 2 camcorders to the Powerbook they connect OK to iMovie BUT the moment I try to export any footage back to camera it immediately crashes and say's it has lost the connection. This happens every time. If I purchase the Snow Leopard upgrade for Leopard for $39 will it have iLife with a full version of iMovie included, or will I have to purchase a full installation version? I am hoping that a newer version of iMovie with iLife will solve my problems.

I can't recall doing anything different that would have caused this problem, but now whenever I try to load a secure website (https), I get the error message "Safari could not load the page https:xxxx because it could not connect to the server." I have tried resetting Safari, but that didn't fix the problem. I have also thrown away the following files (Safari_1.2.pkg, Safari (folder), Safari (application), and com.apple.Safari.plist) and reinstalling a new version of Safari, also without success. I should add that Internet Explorer will always load the pages that choke Safari, but I hate using this program. Has anyone ever heard of this before, and does anyone know how to fix it? When I start up Safari and load my home page (google.com/ig) it takes way to long (>30 seconds). After doing some testing I found out that Safari seems to be hanging when I make secure requests. I found that out by removing the Gmail and Google Calendar gadgets from my home page and it loaded right away. But then when I go to gmail.com and log in I have to wait again. Also at that time I can't use any other tabs, they all just sit there and spin like they are loading.
Has anyone else had this issue? I know its a Safari issue because Chrome it just fine. Any ideas?
What's your favorite safari extension? and are they secure? Cause apple said that they are done by third-party developers. So are they approved by apple?

Safari can't open the page "pageAddress" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "serverAddress".
I'm curious about what might cause this because it's stopping me from using a lot of user login pages (i.e.: the Google Accounts login page.) Is there some way that my dad could fix this (I'm not the administrator, as mentioned first.)?
Tried to send a secure message to the customer service of the Chase.com. After hitting the "Send" button, it said "Error: 500". Had no problem with Google Chrome.

Safari wont open any pages such as youtube, facebook etc saying that it cannot establish a secure server. This just happened about 3 hours ago just as my mac went to sleep. The only new thing I did was use an HDMI cable to connect to my TV. The mac had been shutdown for low battery because i fell asleep on movie. Anyways, I woke up plugged in my charger only to find that i can't connect to certain sites... Further compounding my problem is a taskbar that says "The certificate for this website is invalid. You might be connecting to a website that is pretending to be <url here>.

Zero out the drive or do a 7 pass is secure BUT takes a long time for 750 GB
What if I drag those files to trash and do a SECURE EMPTY TRASH - much quicker as I am not writing 750 GB of zeroes but is it as secure?
I lately have been testing out the Safari 4 Beta. It's speed alone was good enough to get me to think of switching back from Firefox. I did, however, find myself missing a few features I had come to depend on with Firefox.
There are two free extensions out there, though, that have made Safari my full-time browser.
First is SafariBlock. Instead of being some obscure adblocking extension that requires custom filters, it's an extension of the AdBlock for Firefox add-on. It allows for list subscription and automatic updating, and has made browsing the web as ad-free in Safari as it was in Firefox. Check.
The second is Glims which is a fairly new add-on to the scene, but has shot straight to the top of my list of best Safari add-ons. It replicates almost all the features I missed from Firefox.
I have downloaded 'Radio_TV_2.1.pkg'. I think it was from TV Neto.
Anyway, it was not what I wanted. I now have a toolbar I want rid of and it has made Safari very buggy.
How do I TOTALLY get rid of this crap?

I've been searching through the preferences I can, but can't see where to make Safari default browser.

Since about the 3rd day after I got my macbook pro the computer has been making cracking sounds when I open it. When it first started it just simply made one clicking sound when the hinge is halfway open. Now however, When it is open it makes cracking sounds that don't stop ( open 15 cracking sounds per open). Is this a serious issue that I need to address with my local (and very mean) genius or is this issue not going to continue to get progressively worse. If this does continue to get worse will the hinge crack open? what is this worst that could happen?

Sometimes when I'm using Safari, and I scroll the page up and down, its not a very smooth scroll, it kind of lags a little. Especially when the page is still loading.
Actually this happens on both my iMac and Macbook Pro, so I'm starting to think that this is normal, and it might be because I don't have the fastest broadband connection. Because when I take my MBP to my mom's house, Safari is always smooth, and she has a pretty fast connection there.
Also, when I go to certain forums, and there a lot of GIF. images, it lags a lot.
I shut my macbook pro down the other day and when I turned it on the next day, I couldn't get on Safari. It would constantly say that it couldn't find an internet connection. I tried to check to see if I could do an update, and same problem. Here is the kicker. Mail, iChat, and Firefox all work fine. The only applications affected that I can find so far are iTunes, Safari, and Automatic Update.
