Mac Pro :: Setting Graphics Card Options
Oct 8, 2008I want to ask about spec-ing a Pro with a decent graphics card for games. While it's not the only thing I will use the computer for, it will be one of it's main uses. Is it better to get one with the default 2600 and then buy a more recent Windows graphics card like an ATI 4870 and use boot camp? If I do this can I buy any PC/Windows card and keep both in so that Vista will use the PC one and OSX will use the 2600? I don't want to have to switch things around internally every time I boot to a different OS. Or should I just BTO the Nvidia 8800GT and keep things simple? As far as I can tell the 8800GT should give decent performance, at least for another few months..

Then I attempt to connect to the name of our network and type in our password. I end up getting a message stating that the password entered in not correct for the selected airport network.

May 15, 2009I have never setup RAID before and this question may be totally stupid for that matter.
Can I setup RAID 1 (or call it mirroring) without the RAID card? I have two 1TB internal drives in my Mac Pro and I want to mirror them. I don't want to spend another 700 bucks just to setup a mirror.
Disk Utility shows some RAID options, but I am not sure how to use them, or if they will work at all without the RAID card.

Mar 22, 2012I am trying to insert a 4 Gb SD/HC (unlocked) card into the iMac desktop to view some recently exposed photos. I have tried inserting it both ways, with the Sandisk label facing me and facing away from me. In both cases, the card detection does not show on the screen. Amazingly the 900-page book "Mac OS X Lion, the missing manual" does not even discuss SD card usage for the iMac.I have looked into My Computer and in Lightroom 3, and it does not show in either places. Apr 15, 2012I have a new imac with an SD slot on the side. When I plug the SD card into the side it imports to iphoto automatically but I am having trouble reversing the process. I have opened iphoto and the SD card in finder, drug the pics from iphoto to the card, they show up in finder as jpegs but when I unmount the card and then plug it back in iphoto says that there are no valid files on the card. The pics are there in finder but cant be opened by iphoto. My camera (Canon Rebel T2i) also does not recognize that there are any pics on the card. I need to be able to send pics back to my spare SD card for printing purposes.

May 21, 2012I have a iMac (Intel) desktop and also a Windows based PC. I use the newer Mac to process JPEG photos in Lightroom 3, but here's the catch: most of the time my older Sandisk ImageMate 8-in-1 CF reader does not show up in LR3 (I connect the USB plug directly to the back of the Mac's USB slot). It works just fine with the PC. So it may be a hardware problem and I am willing to invest in a new Mac compatible card reader. My Mac runs on OS X (Lion).Â
