I'd like to set the font for outgoing mail to be Georgia. I'd like to have Mail format the message so when the recipient reads it, it is also formatted in Georgia. I would not like to do this for each message individually, I'd like to have this default for all outgoing message.

If you go into System Preferences>Appearance>Font Smoothing Style, You'll see a drop down menu with different choices. I think the best looking font smoothing type is "Standard - best for CRT". I've tried all the other styles and they don't look good to me. I think the other styles look too sharp, too bold and I don't like colored pixels around the edge of my text.
By the way, in Snow Leopard, there's only 2 options now. It's just a checkbox that says: [ ] LCD Font Smoothing. When checked, it acts like "Medium - best for flat panel" and when unchecked it acts like "Standard - best for CRT". What is your favorite font smoothing style? For changes to take effect, you have to quit and relaunch your apps to see the difference.
I'd like textedit to use a font that I choose everytime I open it.

Sometimes when I cut a line of text and paste it into a mail I am writing and then continue to add to the mail the text gets very tiny.

Does anyone have any idea as to what those icons are in under "Fonts" in the Apple mail program? Launch Mail. New. Choose Fonts. And you'll see " T underlined" explained....T cross thru, etc. Then you'll see a colored box...launches colors....Then a picture of a page. What does that do? Another "T" this time you can change the background color of the box back and forth. Then some sort of bars with a triangle, a box and a smaller box. Wait? Am I playing Myst? Then, finally a wheel that you can change from degrees.

I like my MacBook Air, but the font size when drafting email is a bit too small. For viewing regular email, I know I can use the Command and "=" to increase the size, but that does not work on the drafting window. how to increase the font size I view when drafting. First of all, it has automatically selected POP3, how does this work? If I delete an e-mail on my MBP, will it delete it from the server (I am using hotmail)

So much to my surprise, I open up my gmail account and it's practically unintelligible. Some weird cartoon like font is my default font. As far as I can tell, all the default fonts are activated and all the settings point to the activated fonts, but this is driving me absolutely F__KING bonkers. Has anyone ever had this problem? Now to be fair, I did install some fonts from a semi questionable font disk a week or two ago, so maybe some rogue font has hijacked my web fonts.

My terms are probably really bad, not very tech sauvy so I apoligize. 4 email accounts -gmail, buckeyemail and fisher email which are outlook based, and then a kent state email which I dont know what it is. -Blackberry that I use to read emails on but it never deletes anything from the web based servors. -I dont like deleting emails off the actual servers they go to first, like my gmail is currently 9000 messages deep. My problem is when I delete them off my computer, it also deletes them off where I check my email web based, I don't want that to happen. Also, I don't want a folder full of messages. I Just want things I decide to keep and everything else to be swiped from the computer, I really dont know how much space these emails take up.

However, every time I try and set up the AT&T Yahoo! mail account in the OS X Mail.app program, it sets it up as a POP account. Can I not have that set up as an IMAP account in Mail.app too!?
