Hardware :: Finding Receipt And Business Card Scanners?

I was thinking about buying a small scanner for general scanning, and then I heard that there are scanners aimed specifically at scanning receipts and business cards. This seems like a great idea (for archiving receipts and tracking spending, as well as filing tax returns), and I was wondering which scanner you recommended. With general scanners I've had in the past I've run into a lot of bad luck with drivers and scanner software not getting updated as the OS got updated, meaning my scanners became obsolete very quickly.
Im looking for an application/software that i can use to design business cards with, preferably for mac, but windows works to (boot camp).

I would like to hear what you guys think about these apps or if there is anything better. I dont care if it'll cost me some $$ money is no problem, I just don't want to waste time and money on something not worth wasting time and money on.
I print my business cards from Word, using my Macbook. I use the Avery Ivory Matte business card stock, and really like the results. I like my design and have been using it for years. Lately, something is up: the cards come out dull. I've done this across several different printers, so I don't think it is the printer. I have a new one now.
I tried using new cards, same deal; comes out faded and dull when it used to be bright and vivid. Could this actually be the Word document itself?
I've been doing a lot of research and feel like I'm smoking crack for not being able to find what I want. I recently started a small client-service based business that has assets. What I'd like to do is find one application that does all of the following:
- Allow me to track time by project/client/task, etc. with a built-in timer that also allows bulk input of time - Turn tracked time into invoices easily - Track my expenses and mileage - Track my assets - Integrate with my bank accounts for reconciliation of payments, transactions, etc. - Maintain all of the financials of my company (things like depreciation of assets, taxes owed, financial reports, etc.) - Light customer management - Export ability to excel, .pdf and email directly from the app - Possibility of future integration with online credit card payments
starting a new small business and need some first hand advice. have seen bad write-ups on quickbooks 2009 for mac and so-so opinions for myob. what about quickbooks 2010 coming out soon?
I have one scanner, the CanoScan LiDE 200 [which is fantastic by the way] but all of the scanners I have had in the past still show up when I select the import function. How do I delete the old scanners?
Can people who have issues with printers post there models and tell the problems... I am having an issue with my HP C4480 printer/scanner. It prints fine but for some reason scanning is not working at all.. yet worked perfectly fine in leopard.
I have tried re installing the software 3 times now to no avail.
I'm thinking about selling off my 1st Gen Mac Pro and buying a new one. I use boot camp once in a while to run Vista 64-bit just for playing the Total War series of games, specifically Medieval 2 and now Empire. Any advice on best graphics card setup for those particular games under bootcamp? I'm not at all worried about on the OS X side of things as I don't really do anything graphic intensive there. I saw the new Nvidia GTX 285 is coming out soon. Any thoughts on that vs the Radeon 4870s? I'm currently running dual Radeon 3870s with crossfire but because I'm on a 1st Gen Mac Pro I can't get everything out of them so I think I may want to upgrade to a new Mac Pro.
I just wanted to ask a question about graphics cards which I know nothing about.
What is the best card to get for gaming/3D (maya)? Apple and or PC/Flashed (sorry if that is not the right term) and is it possible to buy the PC cards already flashed?
I'm in a bit of trouble at work. One of our Mac Pro's won't display anything. It starts up as it should be the screen stays black. We've tried with several monitors. A Mac Partner was 99% sure it was the graphics card which was the problem.
So now I'm thinking about just finding a new graphics card and replace it myself, but I have a few questions.
The original card was a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (256mb) and I've tried to find some suppliers for this, but it seems its not that easy to get your hands on so i was hoping that we could upgrade it to a newer one instead. But I need to know which ones will actually work with this model and if they need to be a specific version of model to work with the Mac Pro.
My sister is looking for a program to make greeting cards and possibly calenders. I told her I'd see if I could find something for her. She is a recent switcher and doesn't know where to find mac stuff. She has Photoshop Elements but that is a little too much for her. She's looking for something a little easier.
Recently I acquired a 42" hdtv and would like to get a much higher quality capture card/device and was wondering if anyone has a decent list of my options. Again, I am trying to capture video/audio when playing my xbox 360 and later edit it on my mbp (I have software for editing, I just need a good device).
I need to get an expresscard reader for my MBP that WILL read Sandisk Ultra II cards. I want one that fits flush or close to flush and that I will be able to leave in without freeze ups. I was going to buy this but it just got Deactivated...
However, the part/model number is listed as MB363ZA/A, but i've seen some mentions that the part number is now either MB988ZM/A or maybe even MB988LL/A ? Does anybody know which will work and what is official?
I phoned up an authorised Apple reseller in my city (not a proper Apple store) a few weeks ago and they confirmed the necessary part number was MB363ZA/A, and this is what they would install for about �35 (price including purchase of the card).
Apple states that the new 2009 RAID card "Requires Mac Pro (early 2009) and Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later." Why? Is there any reason it won't work in an older Mac Pro (2007)? Aside from the increase in cache size (256MB-->512MB) what is the difference?
