I have a 2008 iMac running Lion 10.7.2. I am trying to reset my Admin P/W,( I do not remember setting one up in the first place, but trying to use Terminal recently to do Maintenance scripts, it asked for one, which I cannot oblige it with). (I only put in a Master P/W). Â
The method I have been reading requires using the original software disk supplied with the Mac. My iMac came with Leopard, whch I upgraded to Snow Leopard and now to Lion.Â
Will the original Leopard disk be suitable for the above? or do I require the Lion recovery or whatever to do this task.Â

I forgot my administrator's password for my home computer. I purchased office 2008 for mac with a free upgrade to office 2011. I upgraded it to 2011 when it came out (late 2010/early 2011). I have since made a new password and forgotten what it is. The mac tells me to reinstall my microsoft office but when I do, with the office 2008 disc, it tells me I have MORE RECENT SOFTWARE and to use that. I did it on line and cannot find it again.Â

First timer here. I bought a used G4 MDD 1.25 dual FW800 recently. Was pre-loaded with 10.5.6. I thought that I would add a hard drive. After attempting to format, it rebooted to a gray screen with a MacMonitor icon. If I hit "option", I can get it to progress to a blue screen w/ padlock asking for a password. I only remember setting a user password. I believe this is asking for an admin password.
So, I thought that I'd get the 10.5.6 Install disk to reset the password. I can't seem to boot from the Install disk! I've tried holding down the "c" key at startup, (also the "option" key). No avail.
I have a PowerMac G5 OSX 10.5. I bought it used without install disks. My password doesn't work for some reason.
I've checked with the seller to confirm the password and I'm sure of caps and spelling.Â

I'm trying to install Photoshop and when it gets to the point where it asks for the password, I enter it but the password box just disappears for a second and returns asking for the password again.(I entered it several times with the same result each time.)I'm certain that I'm entering a valid admin password and that permissions for the applications folder are set to read & write for admin and system.Just to be sure I tried entering the password incorrectly and the box shook as it normally would when an incorrect password is entered.Has anyone had a similar problem with Adobe products or installing any other software on Lion?
Also, I just installed Adobe Lightroom last night and it worked just fine. And when I just tried to run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool which also asks for a password and I'm having the same problem.So I know that it's not just Photoshop but I don't know if it's just something to do with Adobe or maybe all software which requires an admin password to install.Trying to repair permissions and run a virus scan now although I think these two options are unlikely to fix the issue.

But disk two of the reinstall disks does not complete, I get a grey screen must restart computer in 4 languages. I got SMART warning about my hard disk, I got it replaced by a shop, but said I would do OS restore myself. (cant afford cost )Thought it would be simple - but it is anything but.  It appears my install DVD is damaged, so was not able to boot with Grey OS install disk - holding the C key.I managed to get iMac to boot up using the old disk - using firewire dock. However I was not able to restore old disk and OS to new disk, Due to IO read error.(this is why I had the SMART warning). So I am unable to get the OS on the new HD using the old disk or the DVD as these are both damaged.  The computer is running, so I thought I would try buying and downloading LION - then using the migration tool . The download is still running after 2 days.I went to apple store, and was told that they cannot replace DVD , so I should bring in the iMac = and pay for the restore. Dont wish to do this. As I have the computer and OS running, is there anything I can do to get a time machine restore from another backup disk (USB).

My MB Pro has 1 user login, it's never been changed, re-created, etc.I can login to the laptop no problem, I can goto the User control panel and change the PW and it shows the single user as the admin.However I can't install software.
