I recently purchased a late 2011 15' MacBook Pro with 4 gb of ram and would like to purchase the 2011 Microsoft Office Suite for Mac, which is 3 gb. If i download the suite, will my MacBook Pro slow down significantly as a result, or just occupy most of the free space?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a MacBook Air late 2008 and it was destroyed by a mean person, now I have a late model MacBook 2009 and updated everything, but I cannot figure out how to load Apache Open Office. It keeps giving me a warning that the security system won't allow anything that is not made by Apple or has its approval or something, but it worked on the 2008 Mac and it worked awesomely! Why can I NOT find anything about it now that I have Yosemite , which is also hard to remember to spell!

I've got Office 2008 already on Mac. Is it better to uninstall 2008, then install 2011? Or is it better to install 2011 on top of 2008?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI got this update notice from MS and downloaded it as it was marked as "critical." Well the download completes and the installation process begins very slowly, then the progress bar just sits there on the left, barely visible while an alert on the screen says "Waiting for other installations to complete..." Should I just wait for hours till something happens?Â

I heard earlier there are some concerns with installing Office 2008 for Mac. It seems it was something about the installer opening up a security hole. I purchased Office 2008 on release date but never installed it since I'm waiting to install it on a new MBP I'm purchasing this weekend. Is it safe to install it or some type of fix for it once installed? Are there certain procedures I should follow when installing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a MacBook with Microsoft Office 2008. When I try to install it on my wifes Mac it warns me "the license is only for one machine". I uninstalled it and tried with a new Office 2008 software with new serial but when I try to do so, it always says that the serial number is the previous one, so the machine kept the original serial number and does not let me install the new office. I tried almos everything, unsuccessfullly. How to install a new Office 2008 serial? How do I uninstall completely the previous version?

I am trying to install Microsoft's latest update for Office 11 and I can't close Microsoft database daemon or Sync-services app to install MS Office 2011 14.2.1 update. No idea how to close it. I read that in some cases an older version of Entourage caused some problems so I deleted Entourage - can't use it anyway - but that didn't work. Have rebooted several times over several days and same problem remains.Â

Because I installed Microsoft Office 2004 from my friend's disk, I do not have the actual disk for installation. So, if I were to do an archive and install of leopard on my macbook, would microsoft office be deleted?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been reading more and more on parallels, and I was hoping someone here could answer some questions about its coherence mode.
Does it let you run applications for windows transparently through the MAC OS? As in, I insert the installation disk for office 2007, the setup menu comes up, I install it, and I get to put the word icons on the dock, I can open word/excel/whatever and just runt he applications without having to boot in to some sort of an emulation mode or whatever?
I would appreciate some input from some people here.
I've been using Office X for some time. I bought Office 2004 for Mac (Student Teacher Edition) from a friend who upgraded last May. I got the manual and the Product ID with it. I never got around to Installing it, but my hard drive failed recently and Apple replaced it, obviously without any of my stuff on it. So I decided if I have to reinstall all my software, I'd go ahead and use the Office 2004 as I don't think the Office X is fully compatible with Tiger (because of it's age and a few issues I've had with it over the past two years). Now, here's the problem. When I tried to install it, the product ID didn't work as the Product/CD Key.
I called my friend and she no longer has the box or the Product Key, and of course, the Product key from my Office X doesn't work. Is anyone familiar with Office 2004 for Mac? Is there any difference between the "retail" version and the Student/teacher version that would prevent the Product Key from one with working with the other? Would anyone be willing to share their Product key with me, to install the software so I can get back to work? I've already lost 4 days in time (and have to recreate 2 days worth of work that was done after my last file backup) and don't have time to deal with this stuff.
So I installed Snow Leopard last night, and everything's been going smoothly; that is, until I needed to reinstall Microsoft Office 2008. I uninstalled it when it was buggy, as I figured it was a simple issue that could be fixed with a reinstall, but now it refuses to even install. I can get through the installer, up until the point where it tells me to select the components to install, and then when I click "Install"- nothing happens. Here's a video of exactly what's happening, to better diagnose the problem. what's going on?

I'm drowning here trying to get a fresh start with Snow Leopard. So I'm undergoing reinstalling all my old software from a carbon copy clone of my old hard drive. I upgraded to a larger hard-drive and snow leopard and have opted for a fresh start. See my thread here: [URL] I have most of all my software install disks except for Microsoft Office for Mac 2008. Does anyone know if I can get these disks? The copy I have is fully registered and legitimate. I just need the install disks. The other stupid thing I've done is I can't remember where/when I bought them. Its killing me. The other question I have is if I drag the MS Office 2008 folder from my carbon copy clone applications folder to my new applications folder will it all work correctly? Will it update?

I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â

Does the new office have the same 1 time use code as the windows version of office?
I'd like to install office 08 on my PB, but don't want to risk having to buy a new version once I get a new MBP later this year.
Microsoft on Tuesday released stability and performance updates for Office 2004 and Office 2008 for Mac, both of which also patch vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker to overwrite the contents of a computer's memory by using malicious code.
Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.1 Update
Aside from the security fix, Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.5.1 Update [14.5MB] also updates the Japanese postal code dictionary in Entourage and fixes an issue that causes Word 2004 to close unexpectedly when opening a document that contains a numbered list.
Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.2 Update
The 12.1.2 update for Office 2008 for Mac [159.6MB] is more substantial, repairing a global issue that prevented all Office 2008 applications from running AppleScript scripts from the Script menu, while also delivering a number of individual fixes for Word, Excel and Entourage.
More specifically, Microsoft said Word should now launch more quickly and tables will no longer included random instances of bold text. Other changes improve the display of form fields and the reliability of headers & footers in the word processing application.
Meanwhile, Excel should now open spreadsheet files that contain invalid characters and see improvements to the overall performance of calculations. Number formatting for some international languages and stability when saving workbooks that contain PivotTable reports has also been improved.
One of the major focus areas for Entourage was to improve stability when using Microsoft Sync Services, Microsoft said. In particular, Tuesday's update fixes an issue that where all contacts in Entourage or in the Apple Address Book would be deleted and re-created when you use Microsoft Sync Services. It should also prevent duplication of events and other items in Entourage or in iCal.
Other changes to Entourage focused on improving junk mail filtering, recurring calendar events, time zone information, embedded images, and the reliability when Entourage establishes a encrypted channel.
Student Office 2008 deal
Earlier Tuesday, Microsoft said it has teamed with a select few Apple authorized resellers like Amazon.com to offer students up to 30 percent off its various Office 2008 productivity suites when they're purchased alongside a new Mac before September 8th.
The offer translates into $15 off Office 2008 Home and Student Edition, $80 off Office 2008 Standard Edition, and $150 off Office 2008 Special Media Edition..
Amazon is also offering between $50 and $200 rebates on Apple's entire Mac line through August 25th.
I recently installed Office on my macbook. When using Excel, it quits unexpectedly and a window pops up asking me to relaunch. I relaunch and it takes me back to the last spreadsheet I had open but sometimes it doesn't save the last changes. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Office files and it still continues to happen. Any ideas?

What is the best way to eliminate Office 2008 and to ensure a clean Office 2011 install?
For most Mac programs, I would normally drag the application folder to the trash, and then do a library search for some entries related to the program. Will this work for Office 2008 to Office 2011? I ask because the M$ installers seem to more than simply add the app to your app folder and update the libraries - and don't get me started on the horrors of the Windoze registry errors.
Somebody told me that Mac version of MS Office is incompatible with MS Office for Windows .
