I just bought my first 27 inch IMac a few weeks ago, I am a apple convert, today my mail will not close, the close mail tab is greyed out in to top task bar, and I tried to right click on the app and close that way but no go. Is there yet a third way to shut down mail that I am not aware of as I cannot turn off the IMac until mail is closed, miss the force shutdown tab in pcs.

This has happened before. All is well, then one day iCloud Mail decides it won't work and the "exclaimation point" error appears next to that account in mail.Â
Trying to re-enter the account information is futile as the incoming mail server is grayed out, only displaying "mail.example.com" which the user cannot change.Â
Tried deleting the account and re-adding, but it just adds a new, blank account which cannot be modified. At that point, my iCloud mail account is entirely gone from the computer and apparently can not be recovered.Â

Somebody knows, how to restart the mail service daily at 6 am in MAC OS X Server
I explain:
1. I used ''mailbfr'' to backup the IMAP mailboxes, but the mailbfr doesn't restart my mail service correctly after the backup, so I need to make this manually each time.
2. I want to restart the mail service with a schedule task, but i dont know the procedure
Setting up my friend's computer email account and everything checks-out fine...but the send mail button and menu option are grayed out????SMTP server is set up the way it should be as are all other parameters....with this same parameters when I configure them on my Mac it works great...on his new iMac it doesn't.Any suggestions besides reinstalling Mail (BTW, is it posible to trash and install only Mail from the DVD's that come with the iMac?), reinstalling the system, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some blasted reason the send button on Mail keeps getting greyed out. I try resetting from time machine backups. It will work for a few messages then become greyed out again.
When I used the Connection Doctor everything checks out as fine. My SMTP information is correct. As it has always worked in the past, works in Outlook, works in Entourage and cross checks as correct by multiple online sources and the ISP's customer service.
I have also repaired permissions.
Why would this button ever be designed to grey out in the first place? An error message after clicking would be better then a button that give no information at all.
Unfortunately this is a customers computer so I can't just swing by to check some more. The above listed steps are ones I went through before performing a time machine restore. Which worked for a while then the same problem occurred. Another Time Machine restore fixed it. Now the customer is having the same problem so I am trying to find another solution.

I bought my late 2011 iMac used from a good friend that barely used it. From day 1, the WiFi hasn't worked and I could never figure out why. It hasn't been a big deal until recently because I prefer a wired connection anyway.. The problem is that I moved into a house and the owner's wireless router is located in the living room.. So now I need to get it working again. After troubleshooting multiple times, here is some information that you will probably need to help me:Â
-When I open Network Diagnostics, the only two options available are Ethernet and Other. The External Modem and Wi-Fi options are grayed out and un-clickable.Â
-When I go to System Preferences>Network, the only things shown in the left sidebar are Ethernet, FireWire, and Bluetooth PAN. When I click the "+" button to add a network, under the "interface" dropdown, the options available are: FireWire, Ethernet, Bluetooth DUN, VPN, PPPoE, and 6 to 4 (no wi-fi obviously).Â
-Under System Report>Wi-Fi, everything appears to be installed and running correctly. I'm not an expert on Wireless settings, but it seems right. If a screenshot is needed of that, just ask.Â

I cleared out all files of Windows I had on my Mac before I did any research. Maybe I thought for some unknown reason that is how you fix the problem - obviously not.
FYI, I did go through the whole bootcamp installation, divided my hard drive, what have you. I cannot delete the BC partition through BC Assistant, the option box is greyed out. I cannot adjust the partition size through disk utility because the minus and plus buttons are greyed out as well.

My Mail has worked since the beginning, but yesterday it stopped fetching incoming mails. I can send mails, but not receive! The clock keeps on spinning and says "fetching new mail" My server ports is set to 25 and 110 as default. When I try to quit Mail, it dosen't. I have to force-quit Mail to close it.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI just set up a RAID 0 with two Velociraptors in my G5. I cloned my main drive onto the new RAID drive but it would not boot so I reinstalled OS X from the recovery DVD and it fixed the problem. However, now I am getting these really weird character issues in certain programs. Characters in my Mail e-mails are kerned WAY too close and the text is abnormally small (see photos below). I also noticed the same problem on one of my Yahoo widgets. Haven't found the problem in any other applications yet. Does anyone know what the source of the problem is and how I can fix it? It's obviously pretty important that I am able to read my e-mails.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to send an email to almost 300 recipients through Mail. For whatever reason (not important to me for these purposes) the message cannot send on the server it attempted to use. The message itself remains on my desktop, with a dropdown error message over it. Here's the problem: due to the number of recipients, the dropdown menu goes beyond the lower end of the monitor.
When I view the message in Mission Control I can see that there are options at the bottom of the error message like Edit Message, Try Later, and Try Selected Server, but I cannot click on any of those to try any of them. Also, Tab seems to have no effect on what button is highlighted, and Try Selected Server remains the active choice. If I press return it will try the same server that did not work and then the message remains. I have also tried going into the Outbox and deleting the message but that doesn't work either.

I just installed the latest SW update...I think it included a security update. After I rebooted I lost the ability to use the "Entire Message" search in Apple Mail.I double checked my spotlight settings and the mail icon is checked and the privacy tab had nothing in it.Â

I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out.
