So I recently erased my 2007 iMac through recovery mode. That process went fine. But when I went to go install the latest version of the mac OS (still through recovery mode) it comes back with a window reading basically that process I just did failed. I did this process many times, it doesn't work, and now at the moment I have iMac sitting in recovery mode and I can't do anything on it. Should I bring it into a store?

Bought a used 2011 iMac. Wanted to wipe everything clean from previous user and install lion. After installing lion I went into the recovery mode by pressing apple r, then wiped the harddrive clean, and now am trying to reinstall lion over the internet. At first it was working fine, eta was 90 mins. When it got down to 4 mins it suddenly went back up to 90 mins and has been stuck there for 5 hours. The computer is not frozen since I can move the mouse and everything.

I've got a problematic iMac running mavericks. I tried to do a disk repair in Recovery Mode which didn't work (said it needed a disk repair but could not repair and that I should backup everything). So then I tried to quit out of recovery and restart by choosing the Mac OS HD...it won't restart...it just keeps giving me the Recovery options front page. What should I do?

After partitioning my hard drive, I was not able to boot up my computer. Currently it is stuck at the white screen when it boots up. I tried using the USB Recovery Disk to boot up however it does not seem like it is responding to anythingÂ
I pressed C while having the USB inserted I also tried pressing D to go in to the Apple Hardware Test nothing happened.
I also tried resetting the VRAM? It did beep and it reset however I still can't bootup

I tried reformatting while running Snow Leopard, but the option was grayed out and the install disc made the computer hang at the white bootup screen. I figured I'd just upgrade to Lion and do a clean install (not an option).Â
After upgrading to Lion, I booted into recovery to erase the hard drive. I did it and it took less than ten seconds (bad sign).Â
Now I can't get past recovery and the hard drive is still full.Â

I'm on a 2008 model Mac Pro 8-core system for work. For whatever reason it doesn't have a recovery partition. I read that if I don't have a recovery partition, I can't make a recovery USB bootable drive....so how do I make one? And no, I cannot reinstall the OS on here, that would be beyond detrimental to what's going on here. (too many details to get into)Â
Alternatively, can I make one with my 10.8.5 MacbookPro at home and run it here on my Lion system?Â

Lion recovery update from the software update won't install. Keeps spooling (I think that is the word for the updaet never seems to finish updating). I usually have to ignore the update...but why won't my iMac accept the update? I am running Lion 10.7.3 on a late 2009 iMac 4gb memory, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

My first generation Mac pro booted into utilities and HD recovery when I restared after installing Autodesk sketchbook pro. This isnt the first time this has happened but last time I was not trying to install any software. Fortunatly, I have time machine backups and therefore have managed to recover the HD to a recent date and I intend to do a complete system check when it has finished.

It was bad sign and I had to take my computer to the Apple service.
The intern disk had to be replaced and they told me that they can't recover the date ( not in theyr shop)
How works the data recovery once the disk is out of the computer ? Is there necessarily a "white room" process wich is very expensive ?

I was trying to get or request a registration number for some software I had on my macbook pro, & it offered me to send a request for a number, I clicked yes, & mail opened up. But I realized this may not work as I do not have an internet connection to my mac laptop right now, so I tried to close both the software & mail. I could not, the red button in the top left corner was grayed out. So I opened activity monitor & got the software to close. But I could not get mail to quit, I finally forced quit mail & it finally shut down.
What happened? I am so afraid my new mac will start to do the freezing alot of people are talking about, I have had it for just a week, I am not sure it was this, I think it may have just been mail trying to access the internet & it got stuck. I checked by opening & closing other apps, & they worked ok. I also notice that sometimes or often when I add an app or move it, I get a windows asking for my administrator password that I made when I first started up my mac for the first time. It makes me give the password before I can do some things. Is this normal?

My Mac is missing codes or something, all the software was up to date but I'm unable to view a lot of web content. Google programs won't let me sign in and Safari keeps shutting down. I'm unable to save files to the time machine or airport or a flash drive that's formated for mac. I finally gave up on saving my things and using the recovery disks that came with my computer I reinstalled the system. It took an hour for the disk to run and then I used the second disk to install the apps. However, when the computer rebooted all of my things are still there. MSN messenger for mac, divx, aim, and some other programs that I had installed seprately after purchasing the computer. I wanted factory settings. I told it to formate the hard drive. They might be what's causing my problems? Also, why does the delete button keep taking me off this board and I can't see what I'm typing it keeps scrolling off page!

My iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) came with Lion installed. I deleted the recovery partition when I triple booted with Windows 7, Ubuntu and Mac OS.Â
Is there any way to re-create a deleted recovery partition in Lion? I've read that you can download Lion from the App Store & write it to a USB using the Disk Utility.Â
I am currently dual booting with Mac OS X Lion (10.7.4) and Windows 7 (installed via Boot Camp).Â

The problem is that the mac will not boot period. When I press the Option on start up, it takes me to a screen where I could select to boot from the Macintosh Hard disk or Recovery 10.9 disk.Choosing either of these still does not boot up the computer.Â
I think that the hard disk is damaged but what I do not understand is why I can still get the option to choose the Hard disk or the Recovery disk.I am waiting to hear from Apple Support on when I can take my imac to the genius bar and I was wondering if there is anything I can do before then. Intel imac 27-inch bought refurbished in November 2010 with imac apple care.Intel quard core processor, 4 Gig RAM, 1 terabyte HDÂ

My hard drive recently failed on my 2007 imac and having not backed up my mac for about 18 months I had to pay specialists to retrieve my data, which they put onto an external drive. I then got a new 1TB hybrid drive installed. Tonight I finally got my computer back. Very naively I was thinking I would be able to pick back up from where I left off. Before my drive broke I had Mavericks and was fully up to date running software like Logic X. Now I am back on 10.6.8. Can I just skip now straight up to Yosemite?

I have a relatively new macbook. I only use it to write, mail and surf. I've installed office for mac. Since about a week, when working in word - not really big documents or anything - it frequently gets stuck on the color wheel. It doesn't respond at all anymore. And I can't close word or shut down my computer. Nothing. Ever the key combi for force close doesn't respond. Only when I turn it off with the power key and restart can I get back to work. Sometimes this also happens when I work in mail (not outlook, but the apple program). I've downloaded all the latest updates for all of my programs. What do I do?Â

I bought my first IMac last month. I changed my access password yesterday and now I can use my computer. It does not like the password I am typing. It asks me to get a Recovery Key. I have contacted Apple support and they told me to do a Recovery using the Command key and R at the beginning of the session. I have done that and it brings me back to the unlock my system with a password. How do I get a recovery key to unlock my system?

Running mid-2009 iMac with latest Mavericks 10.9.4.Â
DVD Player has been performing perfectly in Snow Leopard until this update to Mavericks.Â
I've tried resetting SMC/NVRAM. Reinstalled Mavericks 3 times. Tried dumping the plist too. That did nothing. I've re-set SMC/NVRAM...done the Permissions using Disc Utility.Â
I can get a DVD to load selecting the Recovery Mode StartUp disk. Then I reboot and the DVD plays fine using the DVD controls. But ejecting and trying it again - it won't play. Â

My mail.app seems to be stuck on the wrong sort default. Like most people, I prefer my messages sorted in date order. Somehow, my work mailbox has become stuck on sort by message subject. I can change it to sort by date, however, if I send an email (in any account), it reverts back to sorting by subject. Quitting and restarting Mail.app also reverts it to sort by subject. It now seems to be spreading to my other mailboxes.

I am trying to recovery a file created in Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. The file was lost after a power outage. In an attempt to recover the file, my first thought was to check for the file in the Microsoft AutoRecovery 2008 folder within my hardrive. However, the folder only contains a total of four files! Why? If my Microsoft Word is set up to auto save a document every 10 minutes...then how is it possible the folder could only contain 4 files? I am at a loss of how else to recover this file. I am currently attempting to do so with a free trial of Data Recovery Software to see if the file I lost even still exists, with no success so far.Â

I guess the Mail application on my Macbook updated recently, because when I opened it said it needed to import all of my existing messages to use the new features. The problem is it keeps getting stuck at the same point every time. I've tried it over and over, including restarts, and it always stops at the same point. Here is a screenshot.
