Intel Mac :: System Recovery - Unable To View A Lot Of Web Content?
Mar 11, 2012
My Mac is missing codes or something, all the software was up to date but I'm unable to view a lot of web content. Google programs won't let me sign in and Safari keeps shutting down. I'm unable to save files to the time machine or airport or a flash drive that's formated for mac. I finally gave up on saving my things and using the recovery disks that came with my computer I reinstalled the system. It took an hour for the disk to run and then I used the second disk to install the apps. However, when the computer rebooted all of my things are still there. MSN messenger for mac, divx, aim, and some other programs that I had installed seprately after purchasing the computer. I wanted factory settings. I told it to formate the hard drive. They might be what's causing my problems? Also, why does the delete button keep taking me off this board and I can't see what I'm typing it keeps scrolling off page!
I'd like to view online content on my Samsung 7000 series LED. I don't mean streaming saved content, rather using my TV like a wireless monitor. My iMac is connected wirelessly, and the TV is wired to my router. Is it just a matter of getting something like a D-Link Boxee Box or Slingbox?
I bought my first IMac last month. I changed my access password yesterday and now I can use my computer. It does not like the password I am typing. It asks me to get a Recovery Key. I have contacted Apple support and they told me to do a Recovery using the Command key and R at the beginning of the session. I have done that and it brings me back to the unlock my system with a password. How do I get a recovery key to unlock my system?
I recently came across a very interesting article on how to view Blu-Ray content on a Mac. Having tried it, I can say that it seems to work (although you only get the main movie, no menus and such). It's a fairly simple method, and I imagine that, in time, even easier and better solutions will come about.
I am not very computer savvy and just got an external hard drive to store my itunes on. I now have all my music movies and such on there. I would like to hook my mac formatted hard drive up to my ps3 to view these things. However the PS3 does not recognize it. How do I get it to recognize it and let me view this content?
Since I downgraded to iTunes 12 I can no longer see the content on the iPad in iTunes. Is this the most difficult and useless version of iTunes ever? I didn't think it could get any worse but it has now become very difficult if not impossible to navigate. Easy tasks sushi as adding content and deleting it are now not possible. My iPad air2 is a brick.
I have previously had no trouble viewing pdf files from various websites, however am now unable to. It appears to be loading and then just comes up with a blank screen. I am able to view pdf files which have been emailed without problem. I have removed Acrobat Reader & reloaded but this has not helped. I am able to view pdfs on our laptop & ipad and the settings appear to be the same.Â
In the past I complained about lthe above problem and someone in the forum was kind enough to recommend two fixes: (1) SMC reset and (2) PRAM reset and it worked because I was able to view YouTube and had audio. But the above is a recurring problem and I am experiencing the same again.
I now notice that upon startup the upper right corner of my screen shows "Safe Boot" in red. Does this have anything to do with my problem? How can I eliminate this "safe boot" message once and for all, but more important, how can I fix this YouTube/audio/CF card reader problem once and for all?

just trying to get back into Windows 7 after installing it via Boot Camp. Only thing is that holding down the option key during restart does nothing, and although the partition in which Windows 7 is installed under shows up in finder, I am unable to view it in system preferences so that I can boot from it. Any advice?
Earlier tonight I opened iCal, only to find that none of my calendars were there. it was completely empty. However, when I changed the view from "Week" to "Month" all of my events were listed (in the proper color) on the appropriate day, but I still had no list of calendars on the left. Subsequent changes between "Day" "Week" and "Month" view continued to display the events properly, but nothing showed up in the calendar menu on the left.
I repaired permissions same thing happened.I trashed com.apple.ical pref (forgot the exact filename)same behavior. I use .mac to sync between computers, and I use Missing Sync to sync to a Palm T|X.
I own a Sony Cyber-shot camera, and a 24 inch IMAC computer. I took a short video clip and downloaded it to Iphoto (no problem doing that). I then downloaded the clip to a 4 gpb flash drive, as an mp4 video. My problem is that my friends Microsoft based PC can't play it.
I noticed that finder is not displaying all files when I look at folders with lots of files in "icon view" mode but they do show up in "list view" Same thing happened with the computer at work. I'm using OS X Leopard on both.
i need to return my iMac to service so it's time for me do a latest backup and my question, is there a way to do backup of whole disk but when restoring only the content without the system because this is a great opportunity to do a fresh install of snow leo.
I have about 200 Tabs open and a DSL line. Safari Web Content frequently uses near or more than 100% of my CPU time, and the computer runs dead slow.
How can I modify Web Content so that it does not refresh tabs in the background?
Maybe I can at least get a "toggle" to control when it tries to access that huge junk server at "url..." ?Right now its taking over 30 seconds to respond to clicks, and then the same sort of delay before drawing the new screen.
I am unable to add content to my iTunes library. I'm running 10.6.1 and didn't start having issues until a day or two ago. I've tried dragging and dropping content (like I always do) and also using file add to library. Neither work!
I am an owner of an emac v3.3, the system information says that its a Mac OSX 10.2.4 version. I want to completely erase everything off of this computer so that it can go back to its original state. However, I have lost the system restore cds. Could you tell me where I could find them for this model? Also, I have heard rumors that I can put windows onto an emac somehow. Is this true? and if so, how can I do this?
I recently tried upgrading my PowerMac G4 from Mac OS X Tiger to Leopard, but the Mac crashed in the process and all seemed lost. However, with a system recovery, I managed to get everything back. At least, almost everything. I still had to create a new account, and this account was missing the addresses from the previous account in Addressbook. Addressbook was empty. Addressbook used to be filled with addresses from 2 accounts. I managed to recover the addresses from one account, but the other seems inaccesible. I tried restoring the account. Empty. I tried copying the files and giving myself read/write permissions. Nothing. I tried showing hidden files.Nothing. How do I recover this account/the addresses from Adressbook (I don't really care about the other files on the account).
When I try to upgrade my Macbook pro (Late 2011) from lion to Mavericks, the computer restarts and begins to download the new OSX, but then I get a message saying the download failed because OSX can't be installed because a recovery system can't be created. What can I do in order to get Mavericks to work on my computer?
I seem to have misplaced the recovery discs for my brand new macbook. I'm thinking about upgrading the hard drive to a 500 gb store bought one but I have a question about the lack of a recovery disc.
I have a family pack of leopard licenses for other machines and one to spare which I have no problem using, but I was wondering if that leopard installation would install the trackpad features for my macbook. Will I see trackpad in system preferences? Will it work just like it did?
If so, I don't really care about the recovery disc. Otherwise, I might have to invest in another one.
So, I have a question. I would like to install windows XP on my MacBook, but I don't have the actual windows XP disc. I do, however, have the system recovery disc that came with my old computer (running windows XP). Can I use that as the install disc? Or will it just screw with the windows side of my machine?
My parents recently bought an iMac. Yesterday my mom was playing a game when the computer froze. Neither force quit or holding the power button was doing anything so in her frustration she unplugged the system. Today, after plugging in the system again, it won't turn on.
I press the power button on the side of the wireless keyboard and the green light on the keyboard turns on for about 3 sec and then starts flashing. No fans start up and the screen does nothing.

I just bought my Intel-based iMac last night and it took forever to turn on out of the box. I guess I made a mistake by doing a "soft" power down last night, because this morning it will NOT turn on. I've tried using the power button and waiting. I've tried unplugging and plugging it back in, and then using the power button, and waiting. Nothing works. I've been a PC user for 20 years and just bought this, my first Mac, last night. I think I've made a huge mistake! How the heck do you turn these things on????
When replying an Mail, I cant see the original email any more, just a white page as with a new mail.Instead, I have to forward the email and copy all the addresses if I want to have the originals and it's so uncomfortable.
Everything has been working brilliantly until last week.
Why am I recently unable to use my mouse to scroll email topics or content? I can only use the up and down arrows keys to scroll. I am able to use my mouse to scroll through internet searches. It only seems to have affected my email messages.
Info: iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), This problem just started recently
I am running OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 on an iMac 27" mid 2011. If I run OS X Recovery on my system just to wipe everything clean and start fresh. Will I also loose all my other Apps and installed software like MS Office, Adobe CS6, etc. etc.? If so, how can I do a system recovery without losing all my current apps or programs. I don't have any of the original disks.
I have a 20" intel-based dual core Mac which i have had for about since early 2006, i haven't had any big issues with it until a few days ago when it suddenly shut itself down and refused to power back up. I ran through the checklist that Apple Support provides, including resetting the SMC by unplugging everything and waiting 15 seconds or so but none of it worked. Eventually I just left the power cord unplugged overnight and in the morning I plugged it back in.
After having the power cord plugged in for a few hours and the machine turned off, i tried pressing the power button again and to my amazement it powered back on! Immediately i ran the TechTool Deluxe software that came with my extended protection plan (now expired) and everything was fine. Later that night however, I had left my computer on for a few hours before returning to it and realizing it had shut itself off again. Now I am back to where I started, going through the checklist provided by Apple and am really starting to get concerned. Does anyone know of anything else I can do, short of taking it in to an Apple store? Or is something needed to be replaced?

My girlfriend changed the user's name and the problems started (iMac wouldn't remeber system settings and denied access to some files and catalogs). When I wanted to fix the problem I probably made a mistake and changed the access settings of some files (finally even hard disk's settings). After this action my iMac doesn't start (the screen is white with the apple logo and nothing happens). Is there anybody who knows what to do now?
