For no reason at all, all my folders under my active mailbox have disappeared? I've tried locating my library and then the mail folder - but there is no 'Mail' folder in my Library and I've just checked all my back up (Time Machine) logs and there never has been? Where else can I retrieve my folders.

We have changed e-mail providers and I want to archive my current saved e-mails in Mac Mail. I saw an earllier discussion about creating folders in Mac Mailbox and moving e-mails manually into the folders. I've set up a series of folders.  How do I move my e-mails from the Concast folders to the new folders I've now created in Mac Mail?Â

I've just moved from Snow Leopard to Mavericks, and all the mailbox contents (that is, those in boxes in "On My Mac") have vanished. I've tried going to user/Library/Mail/subfolder1 as others have suggested, but I don't have Mail in this Library folder. How do I fix this, if possible, via Time Machine backups? Or any other way, for that matter. Â

I have Lion 10.7.4 on 2010 MBP. I use the mail program on the Mac. I have 20 Smart Mailboxes set up and each is working fine. Yeterday I set 5 Smart Mailbox Folders and placed each Samrt Mailbox in the appropriate Smart Mailbox Folder. At the end of the day i turned the MBP off. This morning when I opened mail all my Smart Mailbox Folders were gone. My Smart Mailboxes are still there.Â

I recently lost all contents of a mailbox in mail when I attempted to re-name a folder (I still have no idea why a simple renaming deleted the folder in question). However I managed to purchase a copy of data rescue II and have retrieved and saved everything pertaining to the lost folder and its sub folders that I can find onto an external hard drive. However I have no idea of how to restore the various bits of retreived data in its many file types back onto my computer so that the emails and folders in question reappear in my mail app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI renamed a Mailbox, trying to rationalize my boxes. The mailbox contained six other mailboxes, some of which have sub-mailboxes. i.e. three levels. A new (blue) folder appeared with the right name but nothing it. No folders, no email. I suppose the actual individual emails have lost their addresses or something. I went into a separate hard drive back up, into my User Library, and made a copy of the correct mailbox which has the email in it. I dragged it into Mail (I think?!) but it is uncoloured and although it has the nested mailboxes in it, there no email in any of them. How can I restore the email? I tried dragging the individual email but Mail wouldn't register it at all. I am very nervous about losing this email because it represents a vital part of the last four years of my research and I use it every day.

I was just looking at my emails in the mail app. One second all of my folders were there. The next second the ones I had made and sorted emails into were gone. I have very important emails in these which I really need to recover. I have a Time Capsule and Time Machine that backs up automatically but I have gone back a couple of backups and cannot find the missing folders.

Some days ago I lost all of my 15 GB folders and files that stored in my Macbook Pro hard drive called DATA. I brought my Macbook pro to an experienced computer tecnicians who providing data recovery services. To his and my suprise, after checking, scanning it a few hours, he said their is no way to recover because he did not find any trails at all. The computer still seems working properly - I have no problem with any applications. There are few other folders in the DATA hard disk containing pictures, computer programs still remain. These lost folders and files contain mainly documents (word, excel, power point, pdf etc) which I accumulated in my many years working !!!!. I did not make a back up since last September partly because I think Mac is very safe.Â

I bought my MacBook Pro last year. It shipped with Snow Leopard. Since then I have been using File Vault, and within my Library folder, I had one main folder, a sub folder, and a sub-sub folder locked. Never had any problems accessing those folders. Yesterday, I upgraded to Lion and now the "Library" folder does not even show up and is unsearchable.
I tried turning off the Legacy File Vault and it required more disk space than I had available on the main hard drive, so I cloned the HD onto my LaCie 4TB Thunderbolt drive, making a bootable drive, re-booted from LaCie, and de-crypted it on there. This did not make my folder re-appear.Do I need to revert to Snow Leopard in order to see that folder again? De-crypt and then upgrade to Lion?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter opening Mac HD folder, made the mistake of attempting to change name next to house icon (Home? perhaps) along left spine (spine that includes 'Desktop' 'Documents' 'Applications' etc.). The computer started to run as if adjusting to the name change. From that point on, iphoto/tunes/aperture starting opening as if it was the first time asking for set-up preferences.
No photos/music can be found in the folders. I can still see my folders on the external hard drive that the tunes/photo are on, but they will not open when I open the programs. Any suggestions on fixing the links? I tried in vain to change the name back. The error message says that the previous name is already taken.
Installed Snow Leopard and lost the ability to double click to open folders in Finder. I can right click to open folders but prefer to double click. Any ideas ? I can double click in other applications with no problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've set up Gmail on my mac mail account but I cannot work out how to stop the spam mailbox getting hundreds a day. Its up to about 6000 now. I can of coruse just clear it out, but then I still keep getting messages in my 'Mail Activity' section saying that more mail is incoming and builds back up again.I know spam is not really a major issue if its just getting caught up in the rightful section anyway, but its just an irritant to get so much spam and seeing my Mail Activity box constantly active.

So I was using Boot Camp assistant to install windows. Everything went smooth until windows crashed. Said it was missing a file, blah blah. My brother had just handed me his W7 Ultimate (instead of home which I just installed) so I figured I'd just reinstall Windows completely. Went back into Boot Camp assistant and accidently clicked "Erase disk and create a single partition for Windows."
I have lost all my pics and music that were stored on there, backed up so thats not a big deal. But how can I reformat that drive to be used by my mac again?
The "Restore disk to a single Mac OS partition" is grayed out.

I reinstalled my applications from a disk, and have lost iphoto completely. Where I can find it and my library - they still seem to be taking up hard disk space, so I am assuming its a matter of locating them. But they're not in the Applications folder. (I do have back up but not the last two months...which I'd like to get back).
