I noticed that Safari wouldn't load a web page. So I went to my back up browser, Firefox. Well it loaded just fine. So at this point, I figured that it may be my schools crappy WiFi/lame firewalls or something of the sort. Well now I've been on my home WiFi for a few hours and it still won't connect. I've restarted my computer a few times and even reset Safari. Safari Version 5.0.1 (6533.17.8).
View 9 RepliesSince upgrading to Snow Leopard (SL). I have noticed a painfully slow access to sites when using Firefox and Safari. Pages used to load almost instantaneous with Leopard. Now when using either Firefox or Safari on SL, It's taking an average of 8-10 seconds to load a page in my web browser. Feels like I'm on dialup. I have the fastest internet service you can get (Roadrunner Turbo Plus), but for some unknown reason my internet page access is painfully slow. I'm really thinking of using Time Machine to set my Mac back to Leopard, but I really don't want too. I figured I'd wait a few days to see if this problem surfaces, and perhaps a solution can be found.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi bought a 15 inch mbp 8 months ago and will never look back. however, recently my safari browser has stopped working properly. when i try to load pages they will stop part way or not load at all. i will have to reload the page several times usually, just to see one page. i downloaded firefox to see if this would work better but it has the same issues. now i am at a standstill going back and fourth between the two browsers trying to check my email and face book once a day, which is annoying because of how long this takes, especially when it doesn't work at all. i think my computer may have a virus but i don't know a whole lot about computers

Yesterday I was on a myspace page and I received a message saying something about how the Adobe page scripts for that page were being unresponsive or something? I'm not sure exactly what it said...
Anyways, is there any way I can get this resolved? It sounds like it has to do something with a plug-in or an update.
Has anyone else noticed that Safari is painfully slow the last few weeks? Mostly the problems are with gmail and facebook, but all sites are slower than Firefox. With both gmail and facebook, I can login fine, but when I click on something (a mail message, a person, a picture), it times out.
I've tried resetting safari several times to no luck. Firefox works fine. I'm having the same issues on my mac mini as well as my MBP. Both have 4GB Ram.
Whenever I open Safari, it takes over a minute to open the first web page. Once the page is open, it surfs very fast. so it's not a problem with my internet speed. Just a problem waiting for Safari to open the first page.

when I open Safari, the page hangs up for a bit, I usually have to click on "Empty Cache"...then it continues loading. What is causing the delay? this also happens when I start up my Macbook Pro, so I know my cache is not full.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a programmer of bussines applications and my company has a program that lets our clients view/alter/attest invoices. It is a part of a larger bussines application suite with an html gui working against a Progress database and it is all running on the clients server. This application suite has been running for a number of years for other clients all of which have been using IE to run it, but we have recently gotten a few clients that want to run it through Safari on their Macbooks and for some reason the program that handles invoices seems to "stall". The program usually opens up the base-gui and then runs a calculation frame (works sort of like a ajax call, only a bit older/simpler inhouse version) that collects the data from the database and then inserts data in the various iframes, displaying tables, enabeling buttons, that sort of thing. As far as I can tell from the screenshots that our client has sent us the basic layout opens up, but then nothing else happens. No tables get displayed and no buttons gets enabled, so it seems that the calculation frame is not running for some reason or other.
This problem however only occurs on this and one other users computers that I am aware of. I have confirmed that the program in itself is written according to standard and it runs just fine through Firefox and Safari on both PC and Mac when I have tested it on a couple of different locations. We have ofc tested it in our own environments and also by logging in to our problem-experiencing-clients own account and installation through both Safari (3.2.1) and Firefox (3.0.4) on both PC's and Macs opening up the exact same programs with exactly the same invoices and we never encounter any problems whatsoever. All the tests that we have done leads me to conclude that the actual programming of the application is solid and that the trouble must be with the clients own setup seeing as how it only ever seems to occur there. The problem is ofc that I don't know my hand from my elbow when it comes to Mac and Safari and as such I don't have any idea *how* to troubleshoot it or where the problem might occur. It could be anything from her internet connection/firewall/browser setup/internet options or whatever as far as I know. Unfortunately the Client is quite a far away, so it is quite difficult for me to check her setup first hand and she is not very computer literate so it is also difficult to get much useful information out of her.
What I know about about her setup so far is this:
- She is using a Macbook Air that she bought last spring (2008) and it is her own personal computer.
- She updated the Safari installation at her local apple store a week ago.
- She has tried installing Firefox and got the same problem there.
- She was unable to find a version of IE that works with her OSX so she has been unable to test it with that browser.
- She says that her internet connection is "wireless broadband" and she hasn't really said anything more about it than that (I doubt she knows or cares about the specifics about such things unfortunately).
- As far as firewalls go I have no idea what she is using, but I doubt very much that she would use anything that wasn't pre-installed on the box when she got it.
Is there a way to stop loading contents of a page such as a flash video?

I use Firefox, and I do a 3 finger swipe upwards, it will go to the top of the page. And when I swipe downwards, it goes to the end of the page. I find this really useful. But when I switch to Safari, the same motion does nothing at all
View 2 Replies View RelatedI went to log my little sister on webkinz and it just stopped loading. It's worked for months in the past in both Safari & Firefox. Now all of a sudden it's just stopped loading. It tells me the page isn't found. I have tried google and clicking on the links that way and it still comes up with the page can't be found. My adobe flash player is updated to 10. something I'm running on Firefox 3.0 & the latest Safari. All other pages load with out any issues. It's just webkinz that doesn't work. I've also cleared my catche, cookies all of that. The only thing I haven't done is uninstall & reinstall it all.

When I try to open the same page in Firefox at the same time it opens normally. For many pages (like this one) Safari is working fine. I am running a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7.3. It seems there is some incompatibility problem that affects Firefox but not other browsers. Same with Windows XP in VMWare.3. Above all, I'll be in the middle of doing a project, AND IT WILL DEMAND I TURN IT OFF? Why!? Why would I want to turn it off? After restarting, Safari suddenly doesn't load any webpages. It shows all the top sites in the favorites area and actually updates some to the most recent versions, but when you try to get to the site it shows the loading bar to about an 1/8th of the way and then just pin wheels. Firefox works fine. I have used the reset to no avail. Have the current version and have been running it for a while with no problems.

I am running MAC OSX 10.6.3 and are having the following issues
About a Week ago I noticed I was having issues on certain web pages with opening links within the page. Example: A webpage im having a lot of errors on is Gunbroker.com If I click "add to my watch list" safari just sits there and does not open the page. Same for Firefox. Other links on the page work fine. I tried this site and others on my other macbook and it works just fine. Random links within webpages seem not to work.
I have tried to reset safari, clear caches, verify permissions and fix errors on Disk Utility still no fix. I also reinstalled firefox just not safari because of my favorites.
Any Ideas? If this has already been discussed please let me know I will try to find a thread. I did do a search but could not really find much pertaining to this issue.
I have seen a few postings about Safari loading slowly since the upgrade to Yosemite but this is really starting to aggravate me now. I am having no problem whatsoever when loading the same pages in Firefox - which in fact is how I am having to write this posting.

I’ll try to be as specific as I can. I’m running Safari 5.1.7
From time to time, Safari seems to encounter a problem with opening https (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure). Either the page won’t open or the page will take deveral minutes to load (like four minutes to load Twitter home page).
When it happens, it seems to cause Safari the misbehave with any other page: Safari becomes in effect broken. Meanwhile, pages load normally in Chrome or Firefox.
Sometimes, restarting the computer will fix the problem (for a while), but sometime it doesn’t. I’ve also tried to empty Safari’s cache and flush its DNS. It doesn’t always work. I coming here because I restarted by computer half an hour ago and pages are still loading in Safari.
Other valuable information:
1) The problem with https existed prior to me upgrading to 5.1.7
2) I can be using Safari for days before I encounter the problem
3) I usually work with thre or four windows open, each loaded with about ten tabs.

I have been having a problem with some websites, various ones. The page starts loading and I see the images load but once the page is done loading all of the images disappear and I get the little broken link icons in their place. I have no problem seeing those sites using Safari. Other sites are not a problem.
I have not done anything to tweak the pipelining and I have made sure that the box is checked to load images automatically with no exceptions. Java is also checked.

This is very annoying, and didn't happen in Firefox 2.0. To clarify, I'm reading, and I click once, and want the page to jump down one section, and instead it jumps two or three. I've experimented with autoscrolling on/off, and this doesn't help the problem. Should I switch back to Firefox 2.0? One solution is to position the cursor barely below where I want to go, so Firefox can't jump ahead, but I find this annoying and would just as soon switch back to 2.0.
