I finally updated to mac OS 10.6.8 snow leopard in prep for upgrading to lion and now my macally backup drive wont mount - what should I do?

After upgrading to 10.7,4 I can no longer access my external IOMega Prestige drive. This drive is encrypted/protected via IOMega's Drive Protection software.

Im planing on buying a 27" iMac with the quad i7. I was wondering if it would be possible to replaced the superdrive with an intel ssd for the operating system. Has anybody done this yet on a previous generation imac and how did it work out.

I had been using the drive connected to an airport extreme. That configuration failed its connection to my imac. The drive is now connected now directly to the computer. .

I just purchased a new iMac, System 10.7.4. When I tried plugging in my old WD external with a newly purchased Firewire cable (couldn't attach with the cable that came with the drive originally), the drive didn't show up on my desktop. I tried shutting down and restarting, thinking that would help, but it did not.  I then removed it and placed it back on my G5 Tower and it works fine. I am running system 10.5.8 on my old mac, just as an FYI. I need this drive as my time machine backup is on it.

my work has recently switched from macs to p.cs anyhow they have recently posted some older macs and laptops in a free draw. my name came up against a 2002 white ibook g3, below are the specs as listed by my company:

my question is how/can i upgrade the o.s to a higher level (currently at osx 10.2) & what is the realistic o.s i can get to whilst still working to a realistic level.?? would i need more ram/memory?? its in pretty good nick generally and would be a shame not to make the best out of it.
Can I upgrade my ibook 10.2.8 OS X to a higher version? If so how? If not, better to get a new computer? I was trying to install a broadband modem but requires OS of 10.3 or higher.

However, that was when I was a Windows user. Now, I'm using a Macbook Pro that I've had since December of 2006 and it's still running like a champ, but I would like to have all the latest features that come with Snow Leopard. My questions are as follows:Is there anything special I need to do prior to installing the new OS? Should I do a clean install? If so, are there any special files I should back up outside of my iTunes and iPhoto libraries, and my documents?

I recently performed an optical drive install. Had to remove the hard drive bays (I use three hard drives - Luckily, 2 run OSX). Â I carefully removed all three drive bays and the empty bay. When I inserted the drives into the computer I had changed the position, swapping one OSX drive with a different one and reversing the drive bays. On restart, the computer started on the drive I had not selected for startup and I received an error message stating the other drive could not mount and it gave three options (Initialize - Ignore and Eject). Â
I can see the drive in Disk Utility and repair the permissions (it's also located in the System Profile). Â
I tried a few things I read in the community using various Terminal commands but was unsuccessful. Â Â
(Let me point out that I recently switched from a PPC G5 to MacPro and swapped the drives from PPC into MacPro and all has been fine until I removed changed their positions in the bays)Â

Alright, so my hard drive died a week ago and I bought a new one. I am positive that I have installed it correctly. But when I run the install discs, after I choose english as the language, it says "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer". I am using the install discs that my macbook came with. I have tried following many online tutorials that involve partitioning and formatting but I can't seem to get it to work.
View 11 Replies View Relatedy question is : should I try to reinstall the entire operating system on to the g drive and boot from and use that as the main drive, or should I just learn how to configure all my programs to save to the g-drive. I have tons of dvds with video and data on them because I ran out of space long ago and so I am finally going to have some space so I am excited about having the g drive.I ask these questions because I have read in the past that the internal mac mini drives actually slow down the system, however I dont know if this is still true, I know the bus speed is faster etc in the new ones

how I can convert my old IMAC from "dial up" to go on the internet as high speed? My Mac OSX does not recognize NTFS partition.By default, I know it should at least be on read-only mode but under Finder I see the drive not even being mounted.I went to Disk Utility to see the NTFS partition, the one I installed my Windows 7 on, but it says the format is in MS-DOS(FAT) whereas I clearly see it shows as NTFS on Windows 7.There are about two files sized as 8.50GB stored on that drive so that should prove it's not clearly formatted in FAT system.

I couldn't figure out how to make it write & read. Now, out of the blue, I can't even mount it.I'm at a loss. My iMac is on it's last legs and I'm playing with fire. I guess the first order of business is to mount the thing but it just does nothing or IDK how to force it to do this?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have this sans digital USB towerraid enclosure, with one, 1TB drive in it. It's formated as NTFS. It was working just fine, but for some reason, I went to connect it to a windows machine today and it basically froze up the computer. so i tried a few things, and it was still freezing the computer.So i connect it to my macbook pro where it normally is, and when it tries to mount the device i get an error from NTFS-3G. I added an attachment of the error it gives. I tried inserting the command line it suggests in terminal , but it didn't really do anything. I'm not really familiar with terminal or how to use it fully.
