I have been asked by a friend to suggest a slide scanner that they can use with their Mac. They have over 500 slides that they want to digitise, so they would like something that is easy to use and can approximate the quality of 12MP camera. They have considered going to a photo store to do this, but they feel that given they have time it would be just as well to do it themselves, and possibly cheaper.

Which is great for them.
But what about Mac? I don't want to spend the money just to find that I can't use the thing.

I have a HP Photosmart B110 printer/scanner and I'm running OSX 10.7 Lion, I have no dramas printing but the scanner is not recognised.If I go to System preferences> Print & Scan, it shows the printer but won't show the scanner!! I obviously want and need to use the scanner but am unable!

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the first time today since getting my MP back in April I had to take out my boot hard drive which is also the one that came with the system. I pulled out the HDD with it's attached shoe/slide thing and noticed that the ape/baffon/genius that had fitted the factory drive had over tightened the screws thus squashing and tearing the washer/jacket that the screw sits in. Now being a perfectionist and also the fact that I paid nearly �2000 for it this isn't what i expect from Apple. My question is though: will they take my word that it wasn't me and replace the slide for free for will they say that i did it and say I should pay for a replacement?
Note: I just did a bit more research and found the the proper name for the shoe/slide thing is hdd carrier.
doing a bit of self advertising for my tiling business and have created this afternoon a wicked little presentation/slide show to use as a bit of an advertising ploy only problem is im not sure how to get it from the keynote to a dvd type package that i can post to people and they can just wack in their pc/dvd player and play it?

What I'd like to do is rearrange the photos in a different order that I specify by drag and drop, and then burn them to a CD (or just a folder I could xfer would be fine) so that when viewed on a PC they come out in that order.

My friends have PCs and are able to produce great slide shows with every slide having a different timing to fit in with the music.
I have searched many Apple options and have bought 2 programs but haven't been able to find anything as easy to use and reliable. I spent 2 hours working with one program then when I saved and replayed the show, many of the timings were altered.
Quick rundown. I create slides, but the first slide only shows up for a split second and disappears and the other slides don't appear at all.

I hate to have to use Powerpoint, just because I need to work with objects off the screen. I have looked everywhere for the setting; but not found it yet. I know it must be out there!
I just purchased an ICY DOCK for use with an Intel SSD. I already a have one of these, however the new one seems to have some new revisions. Basically this new one allows me to completely take off the cover. The old one slides forward and up, but the cover does not disconnect. The old one also, when closing, makes sure the SSD is seated correctly into the connector port on the ICY DOCK. The new one does not seem to have this "automatic" feature where when I close it.

The type of equations I need are one's that use theta's, delta's, lots of greek symbols, and they have to be in variable form with stuff on both sides of the equal sign. I can't find a way to do this. I've tried creating them with Word then cutting and pasting, but they don't show up. Anyone able to do this or have an idea?
I am using the latest Keynote version and office Mac X.
P.S., I thought about using PowerPoint, but everyone will be using that so I want have my presentation stand out, so I am going to use Keynote.
I am pasting a screenshot on each slide and I wan them to fill the entire slide but their size is 70% the hight of a normal slide. I do not want to stretch them vertically because proportions will be a mess. I want to project slides in the size of the screenshots. Is this possible? can I change the size of the slides to accommodate the size of the screenshot?

When I choose the Apple wide screen monitor, the border is on all 4 sides, when I choose my second monitor as the output, the border is top and bottom.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am new to video editing and am currently looking for a software for Mac to put together a slide + sound show. I am looking for a software that will allow me to play and edit the slide show and music at the same time, i.e. I will have the show and the audio track available for editing on the screen at the same time. The slideshow is a series of jpegs, that will have 3 to 4 timelines running together at the same time, each timeline will be fading in or out or dissovling at the same time so that the transition will create a new image through layering the timelines (am I making sense?).
For the sound, I need to be able to mix multiple tracks and while the show is playing and will be able to increase/decrease the volume of individual tracks at any point of the show. Final cut will suit the video need of my show, but not the audio need (if it does, please let me know), while sound booth will satisfy my audio needs (but I cannot put them on the same screen). I am looking for software that will do the show + sound editing job on the same screen and will not cost as much as FinalCut or Soundbooth. It would be great if there is a good free software.
I'm trying to make a slideshow in iPhoto and adjust the duration for individual slides so I can get them to be more in sync with the music. Problem is, the seconds counter won't change in the "Adjust This Slide" menu. I'm able to click the arrows to increase/decrease seconds, but the value never changes. I've made sure that I don't have the "fit slideshow to music" option selected, tried it with different slides, tried with different slideshows, turned off all the options in the slideshow settings menu, turned off the ken burns effect, added more songs to the iTunes playlist for the slideshow, changed the slideshow format, restarted iphoto, rebooted, and toggled every other setting I could find, but still can't change the slide duration.
