Hardware :: Connecting Logitech Speakers To Macbook?
May 16, 2009
i used to run these speakers thru my old laptop..which was a HP and they worked perfectly..good base and surround sound..but now that i hooked them up to my macbook..they suck..the sound comes out tinny and just really crappy. i looked in the sound preferences on this computer..but all i can do is move the sound from left to right. is there something i need to buy? the plugs on the end of the logitech system are green black and peachy kinda. then it has a splitter box connected to it..which has a red and white port..then that just goes into the laptop thru the normal black av part of the cable.
I'm looking at getting a MacBook Pro, and hooking it up to my Dell monitor and Logitech speakers when at home. Both the SP/DIF and coax connection on the speakers are free right now, so I need to know what cable I'd have to buy to connect the MacBook Pro to either of these 2 connections? I asked the online chat section of the Apple website, to which they replied they had no such cable, and proceeded to cut me off rather than providing a solution - doesn't exactly fill you with much confidence when buying into a premium product!
Can someone let me know what cable it is I require? It must be capable of producing 5.1 sound on the speakers.
Everytime I try and use the "Mini Boombox", there is always an issue and a complete waste of time setting up. It seems I have to pair every single time, turn on and off a few times and only then will the boombox sometimes work. I'm not sure if I have a bad unit or my setting are incorrect.I keep my BB plugged in all the time therefore is always fully charged.Do we really need to pair every single time we turn on and off computer and/or Boombox?
I just hooked up my logitech speakers to my IMac and they don't sound as good as they did on my pc. On my pc there was some settings that were the Realtek that had a bunch of audio options that made it sound much better. Is there anything like that for a mac? I can't find anything like that in the apple menu settings.
I'm a lifelong PC user who is making the switch from a PC desktop to a macbook pro. Currently I have A set of Klipsch promedia 5.1 surround sound speakers. I am also anticipating inheriting a samsung television from a friend. I would like to be able to use my current speakers and and my new t.v. with my macbook, but I've got a couple of questions here.
1) It looks like the television has a vga input on it. So I'm assuming my best bet is to get the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. what can I expect in terms of quality here? The television is 1080p. Will i be able to get 1080p through a vga adapter? Is there a better option out there?
2) Assuming the television did have a DVI port on it, what is the difference between the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter?
3) I would very much like to have both the television and the macbook hooked up to the klipsch speakers. I'm assuming my best option for connecting the macbook is something like the Griffin Firewave. (Sadly it looks as if this has been discontinued.) The Television's only audio out is optical. Does anyone know of an external sound card that would allow me to connect both the macbook and the television? Or if someone has a better solution as to how to accomplish that; I'm all ears.
Ive recently bought a macbook pro and am thinking about gettin some KRK RP6 studio speakers, I also have some denons cd decks (with denon mixer) and i would like to connect the lot so i can record onto my macbook pro and for the sound to come out my krk speakers. I would i was wondering if anyone can recomend an interface and what cables i would need to connect the lot (ive been told that the how i would do it?)
My grand dad found some old g4 cube speakers. You know the round ballish ones. They used to connect to a cube with usb. You could just plug it in and they would work. My granddad now has a imac g5. He wants to connect his cube speakers to his IMac.
I've got some old Altec Lansing surround sound speakers (4 + subwoofer) that I'd like to connect to my MBP, but I can't figure out what sort of adapter I'd need.
At the back of the subwoofer there's an empty port called "Diag," and two 3.5mm (it looks like) audio cords coming out of an "Input" port. I'm only used to dealing with singe 3.5mm cords.
I'm trying to connect an XLogic speaker system to an IMac desktop. There are only RCA Plugs on the speakers and the 3.5mm plug on the Mac. Can anyone suggest what cable or junction I will need to achieve my goal of connection.
I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes. The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility. You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.
Situation: no sound out from speakers in admin and user account and newly created account. Headphones work, startup chimes work on speakers.
Go to Sound in Preferences and only shows Digital Out for output. Should show Internal Speakers. Ran Diskwarrior and Applejack and zapped pram. Took mac apart and confirmed speakers wired correctly which is verified by the start up chimes being audible on the internal speakers. tested all accounts and created new account all with the same results. Did search of Google and MacRumor. Found one unaswered post indicating same problem. Had same problem with another macbook pro, ran same steps, take apart, confirm wiring setup, Diskwarriored, applejacked and zapped pram and it fixed the problem. I'm not sure what else to try. Did check Audio Midi Setup util and it also did not see the internal speakers.
After I pulled out the jack for my speakers the volume icon was greyed out [URL]and soon I realized that internal speakers as such have been disabled from the system [URL]When I restart the startup chime is played as usual. Is it a hardware or software thing?
My new 25" HP 2510i monitor arrived today, all is good except from the speaker system, I can either have the iMac's built in speakers used or the built in monitor speakers used. Is it possible to combine them both and use both?
The monitor's audio interface connects to my iMac via the headphone jack on the back of the system.
This may or may not be a stupid proposition, but here it goes: I have a Klipsch Promedia GMX 2.1a speaker system which I like very much. However, I was wondering if I could replace the existing satellite speakers with bookshelf speakers (like Klipsch RB-10 s). I'm hoping this will work because I want to increase the audio output of my system without spending money on an amplifier.
I have a Logitech H150 headset for flying in flight simulator and my headset does not work. I've tied it on my iMac and it still doesn't work. What should I do?
I've got a Logitech K260 wireless keyboard, and it has some media buttons on it (including a calculator, internet and email shortcut). So far, out of the box, the volume buttons, the play button and the power button work fine. All other media keys don't work, and I'm not really sure how to map them to commands. Also, I'd like to add that next track is labeled as the alternative to "End" and the previous track is "home" (i.e. you'd expect to press shift+end and get to the next track), but this doesn't work either. I've tried installing the Logitech Control Center, but no luck.
does anyone currently use a Logitech Bluetooth MX900 (optical) with their MBP? I can configure the buttons fine, have no connection issues etc. But the pointer movement is quite jerky. It seems acceptable when swinging it about the screen. But when trying to do accurate tasks like click on a small button, it feels as if it is dragging. I have the tracking speed almost maxed out but reducing it doesn't really affect the dragging sensation, although it does smooth out the jerky movement. I've tried another cheap USB optical mouse but it's the same, jerky situation. I also tried a mouse mat but this hasn't helped either.
I'm assuming this is to do with lack of Logitech OS X support - The mouse works flawlessly under windows, however I think I remember a similar issue with Ubuntu. I'm baffled why the generic USB mouse was no different tho!? Is this just general OS X mouse acceleration?
Just bought a bluetooth logitech mouse (V470). It's cool and fair for what I paid, no complains there. But I got a question about the Bluetooth on Macbooks. I have the Early 2009 model Macbook White. How less is gonna last my battery fully charged with WiFi On and Bluetooth On all time? Obviusly I'm gonna turn off BT when I'm using the trackpad, but just to know.
I have two extra buttons on my logitech mouse: a button on the side and the scroll wheel button. I set up the logitech control center and set commands for those buttons, but nothing happens when i press them. Anyone know how to fix this?
Ever since I downloaded the Control Center my mouse is screwed. When I scroll it goes REALLY REALLY slow, used to go fast. The only thing I changed is what the 2 buttons on the side do.
the external speakers (and the earphones) I use for my i-mac suddenly stopped playing sound from my imac. They do work though when I plug them to the i-pod. My imac speakers work perfectly. Any ideas what's happening?
I'm trying to get a Logitech G5 USB corded mouse to work with Mac OS 10.3. The strange thing is that the mouse pointer moves on the screen fine, but the mouse buttons don't register at all.
The thing is that Logitech G9 Mouse doesn't have MAC supported drivers provided by the manufacturer and that leads to most of the delicate functions of the mouse not being available. (e.g. Side mouse buttons 4 & 5, DPI changing +/-) Logitech Control Center (LCC) for MAC does not let you configure it at all of course either. (since it's not even recognised/available) So after reading a few posts about the matter...it turned out that you "should" normally be able to configure all the mouse's basic buttons (apart from DPI changing) with "SteerMouse".
But even after using that program my Side Mouse buttons number 4 and 5 were not even recognised (using the program a bit urselves should give you a clear idea of what i mean). I even used the "reconnect" button several times (button used for exactly such occasions), unplugged and plugged-in again the mouse, restarted MAC but with no effect...
If anyone knows what could be wrong then i would be more than grateful to hear some possible solutions to the problem.thank you in advance.
P.S. No i m not using "USB overdrive" at the moment and it's 100% certain that it is unistalled completely.
After 2 days of playing around with the new apple keyboard and mighty mouse, I thought, that's enough, and connected my logitech keyboard + mouse.
The keyboard is a big improvement, it has both windows and apple keys on it, and has a lot of extra features, like for example being able to press the 'print screen'. Even the mouse seems to work better, could ajust to the right clicking of the mighty mouse, sometimes it works, sometimes it didn't.
One think I'm still looking for is how to disable the display of widgets when you press the mouse wheel. I tried steermouse, it lets me configure the mouse wheel click as third button, but that doesn't change anything, I tried to run LCC (Logitech Control Center?) but it only showed me my keyboard.
I know how to change the keyboard shortcuts, but can't find the mouse shortcuts?...
I've been using a Logitech G7 mouse w/ USB Overdrive (and now Steermouse). I have an issue with the mouse double-clicking when it's supposed to single-click. It does it randomly throughout the day.
I tried testing my original Apple Bluetooth Cordless Mouse (not the MM), it works fine. No accidental double clicking. The G7, in Windows, does not suffer from this problem. I know the G7 isn't "supposed" to work with OSX, which is probably the reason why it's doing this in the first place, but I have seen other readers install USB Overdrive and Steermouse without issues.
Is there a way to go to default OSX Mouse drivers? Maybe all these installs of 3rd party apps screwed something up. I don't know, just a guess. If anyone has any info on how I could go about fixing this issue, let me know.
