Hardware :: Wireless Or Bluetooth Speakers For Macbook?
Nov 26, 2010
Are there any decent wireless speakers or bluetooth speakers for a macbook without buying an airport express and all that good stuff?
I am looking for something reasonable mainly so I can leave my macbook on my desk and get music to the living room and bathroom.
I will not be trying to get the music more than about 35 feet. Any suggestions?

I have a new macbook pro and a set of computer speakers that are a few years old. I can plug the speakers into my headphone jack with no problem.
I would like to setup the speakers wirelessly and use a bluetooth receiver to transmit my sound from my macbook pro to the speakers.
I was looking at this product... [URL]
Will this be possible?

I've shied away from wireless keyboards in the past because I do alot of online baking and investment activities from my computer. I also love a clean workspace and a wireless keyboard could remove yet another wire from my desk. Do you consider wireless and/or bluetooth keyboards safe?

Anyway I would like to be able to listen to podcasts, audiobooks and music in better quality than I currently get from the built-in speaker in my Macbook. I do have some speakers but I never use them as I have to plug them in and make sure that the Macbook and the speakers are near a power socket. Then of course the cables will be in a tangle, so they just don't get used.
Are there any speakers that I can get that can connect to my MacBook wirelessly? What I was thinking of would be small speakers that could sit on the kitchen counter connected to the power but not connected to my MacBook. In other words I could just use them without connecting any cables. They don't have to be great quality they would mainly be used for podcasts and audio books.

I've got an Aluminium Macbook 2.4ghz and when I'm using the internet wirelessly at home everything is great. However, when I use my wireless LAN at home to transfer movies or songs or whatever between my iMac which I now use as a server, and my Macbook, my Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse drop their connection frequently, or there is a lag with the mouse across the screen. My Macbook has been like this since the day I got it on the 6th of November 2008 and I've recently begun to wonder if this is normal.

I just bought some Parrot Hi-Fi bluetooth speakers. (they are fantastic by the way)
Connected them via bluetooth on my iMac without issue. I then went to the system settings and selected use headset and its all good. (Sound Great)
My issue is that every time I restart I have to go to settings and re connect again. Is there a way of automating this or creating a shortcut for the doc etc. I just need it to be simple for my wife to connect them each day.

I recently changed the batteries on my wireless Apple Keyboard. When I turned the Mac back on the keyboard wouldn't connect. Confused, I went in to system preferences where I got this message. I've searched for the problem in Apple Support on their website but to no avail. I have Applecare. Is this something I need to take up with them? Should I take my Mac to a genius bar?

The problem is getting the speakers to work using iTunes on my iMac. If I plug the wireless transmitter jack into the headphones socket of the iMac I get no sound.

I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) an Airport Extream Version 6.0 Airport Utility (600.92) That I use with two airport express stations, an Apple TV 2nd Generation with latest software up date. Also have Ipad 3rd Generation and two I phone 4's. Issue: After installing the latest Airport Utility software update I'm unable to connect to my remote speakers in iTunes. The speakers are visible in the pop up menu but iTunes times out when trying to connect. If I use remote to select Apple TV and then via Apple TV select my Computers Library I'm able to play music on the Apple TV / Home Speakers... but still not the Airport Express Stations.
When using remote on the iPhone or iPad the speakers are visible as well but I'm unable to select them... iTunes times out. I can steam music from that is on my iPhone or iPad to each individual speaker, but multiple speaker control is not available and the music from my library is not available. I believe the problem is in the Airplay feature of iTunes and I believe the problems arise when you install the latest version of Airport Utility. You can play on remote speakers, only one at a time, and only if you have the music on a stand alone device (iPhone or iPad)... in summary, bypass iTunes and you can be successful... marginally successful.

I was thinking of purchasing an Apple Wireless Keyboard, and an Apple Magic Mouse. I'm absolutely sure it'll be a wise investment, and an awesome Christmas gift. My current Mighty Mouse is quite horrible, I don't even have the ability to scroll up. Of course I don't bother to waste my time cleaning it. Oh well, they don't have a scroll bar for nothing.
The only problem is that I'm not sure if my Mac has the proper capabilities to enable usage for the wireless perpherials I'm planning to buy. This is somewhat how my Mac looks, though I'm running on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (I purchased the disk). I believe my computer has Bluetooth, there's an Icon for it in System Preferences. In my System Profiler, it also has a Bluetooth tab (here's the information is shows, I just cropped out some info. at the top, and my name).
How do I know if my Mac is set for these two items?Looking forward to your responses.

I installed Windows 7 on iMac 20 inch. All went smoothly and after lot of trail and errors, was able to recognize my apple wireless keyboard and mouse. All well till here. Now the problem is that these two devices keeps disconnecting very very often. For mouse, atleast i can move around and after few clicks, it starts working, but keyboard just doesn't work at all. I have to switch off the keyboard and then switch it back on to get it working for few more minutes. Is there a way I can resolve this? I've installed Bluetooth drivers from bootcamp 2.1 update for vista.

Clicking with the left and right mouse buttons doesn't seem to be working properly. I first realised this when a message box warning me of low disk space popped up and I couldn't click on OK. Scrolling with the ball works, as does clicking with it. I restarted my iMac and removed the batteries from the mouse for a minute, but all that happened was that left and right clicks started acting like middle clicks. A wired mighty mouse works fine. I've tried cleaning it by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper and a clean damp cloth, no change.
