Hardware :: Where To Find Model Number Of New Time Capsule
Oct 25, 2009
I think I've searched just about every thing I can think of at Apple's site....Mac, Store, and Support sections but I just can't seem to find the model # for the current TC. Where does one find this??
I just wanted to know where to find my powerbooks model number? The bottom of it says Model Number:A... But everyone always uses a number that starts with M. I am selling my powerbook and people want to know what the model number is so I need to find it.
I have just purchased a Power Mac Model # M8570. I have tried to do the research but I can't find that model number???? It has the mirrored doors and 1 Fire Wire 800 with the 2 Fire Wire 400's. 1 GhZ processor and 80 Gig Seagate HD.
As I check into it, I can't find anything with this model number.
I have a 15" Mac Book Pro (the one with the keyboard that matches the outer uni-body and track-pad). I am having difficulty in finding the actual model number that is associated with this machine ( as it is second hand). I found the serial number and all the other essential specifications to wit I would have interest for scheduled up-keep. The model number, however, escapes me?
I have a weird thing going on.. I live in a home with 3 macs 3 iphones and a ipad. Our router is an Time Capsule. The weirdest thing happens though. At a given time it seems like only some of the computers can get internet. They all can connect to time capsule, but it is broadcasting an actually internet signal to only some of the devices. Which ones get the signal is totally random to. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?
I was wondering if anyone has the part numbers for the new Time Capsule releases (500gig/1 tb). I want to know if the ones at my local stores are old or not.
First of all do you think a hard case will fit ok since the bottom of my macbook is slightly bent? It still works fine, but I dropped it once.
If so, I'm trying to find out the model number for my mac so I can buy the correct hard case for it. I wen to my tech spec page on apple and I don't see the model number: [URL]
Maybe it's there and I'm just being ditsy, but I control F'd too.
Lastly, does anyone have any recs for where to buy hard cases with designs? I found these on ebay and like a few: [URL]
I just went through a long and complicated process that started when my apartment was burglarized and my laptop was taken, through getting a new laptop, replacing that harddrive and restoring from a backup of my old laptop. After all that, I hooked up my new laptop to the time capsule and restored everything via ethernet. I'm now using my TC as a network extender for the house, I can connect to it and see the files in there, but when I try to set up Time Machine to use it, it starts backing up my entire laptop all over again, which apparently would take 48+ hours over WiFi. I'm guessing that when I set it up earlier and made the backup, it was over Ethernet. Now, it can't find the time capsule over ethernet, and thinks that the time capsule via WiFi is a new source. Is there any way to select a time machine file to use and update? I'm using a 1st generation 1 TB Time Capsule with an uMBP 13", 10.6.5. All software is up to date.
We just got new internet today. Our old internet was the built-in airport connecting to our slow hughesnet internet. Now I have an AT&T aircard that's fast, but has a 5 GB per month bandwidth limit. I just plug that into my USB, open the "sierra wireless watcher" application, and click connect. quit, and I'm good. Since it's not an airport network, how can I set up time capsule to find the network? I tried plugging the aircard into the USB of the time capsule, but I'm not sure if that works, or where to go in the airport utility once I do that. Will backing up my computer use up the bandwidth?
I am connected to a wireless router downstairs for my internet connection. I am trying to use my new (bought second-hand on ebay) time capsule to store all my files on. I have installed the disk that came with it but when I try to find the capsule via Airport Utility it is unable to do so. The amber light is flashing like it is supposed to. I have tried using the ethernet cable also but my mac doesn't notice it
I just received my new 1 TB time capsule, but I just cant make i work. I am able to connect to it and see the configuration and stuff like that, but its like that there is no hard drive in it. If I try to connect an external HD through the TC then the external HD I shown just fine but still no internal.
On the attach picture you can see the overview there the HD was supposed too be shown.
I recently upgraded to OS 10.7 and now can't find my Time Capsule under devices to access individual files stored on it. The system is recognizing it under time machine and is doing full backups to it, but only the backup portion is accessible through Finder. How do I get back to where I can pull up the contents of the Time Capsule on an individual basis?
I am trying to get G5 (10.4) to use a network printer MP160 connected to a windows XP machine. This is what I have done so far: Downloaded and installed the latest MP160 printer package for the Mac. Plugged the MP160 directly into the Mac USB port, the printer is instantly recognised and is installed as the default printer. It prints just fine. This leads me to believe the MP160 driver exists in the Mac. Now I transfer the printer to the XP. Using another (wireless) networked windows laptop I have no problem printing to the XP printer so that shows the sharing is working correctly. At the Mac I open printer setup. I then add the printer, selecting it, where I see it listed on the XP machine in (mac) Windows Printing/Network Neighbourhood. The printer name is seen just as it is on the XP.
Now the point it all goes wrong. During the setup, the utility ask me to select the printer model I want to add from a list it displays under the canon group of drivers. No matter what I do the list cannot be updated or amended to include the MP160 model. The BJ gimp drivers don't appear to support the MP160. I get the print job message "Gimp printing.....20%" and various values depending on the model selected and eventually, "NT status network bad name error". The generic printer driver returns the same error. I have tried just about every type of connection using the setup utility and localhost 631 but I always end up at the same point, not being able to select the model. There are no networking issues as far as I can see. The Mac can see and use shared files on the windows machines.
difference between model #s MA519LL/A and MD014LL/A. Both would seem to be usable for a MBA 13. I'm guessing the MA519LL/A is an older model; but wonder if it is still valid.
I'm getting a new 13" MBA, upgrading from a 2006 macbook. I have it all backed up to time capsule. Can I just connect the MBA to my time capsule and restore the macbook image?
I'm looking at placing an order on Amazon (or somewhere similar if anyone has reccos) for the latest base iMac, but their search brings back a ton of results.
I am planning on purchasing a mac mini solely for the purpose of playing music - it will be hooked up to a hi-fi amplifier and speakers. All of the music that will be on the computer will be in lossless format, which is very large. I will need a lot (320+ GB?) of storage.
I'm wondering if I can cut costs by buying an old 80 GB mini and augmenting its hard drive with a time capsule. I was planning on buying a time capsule anyway, so I could save something like $300. My questions are: would I be able to stream music from the time capsule to the mac mini? Would I be able to import music from itunes directly onto the time capsule? If I hook the mini up to the time capsule via USB, can it serve as a hard-drive, even if my internet is down? Is it going to be much more worth my time to buck up and buy a new 320 GB mini?
The battery is not working for some reason. Instead of giving me a percentage of how much battery it has left, there is an "X". What does that mean and how can I fix it?
