View 2 RepliesI have a weird thing going on.. I live in a home with 3 macs 3 iphones and a ipad. Our router is an Time Capsule. The weirdest thing happens though. At a given time it seems like only some of the computers can get internet. They all can connect to time capsule, but it is broadcasting an actually internet signal to only some of the devices. Which ones get the signal is totally random to. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this quad g5 (dualcore 2.5ghz X 2) laying around for about a year that I purchased for $100 without a hard drive, super drive or a power cord. I was told that it was non working in the manner that ONE of the dual core cpu's had gone bad. I will be receiving my power cord this week to make sure that it still powers on but what the problem is.
My question is: If only one of the cpu's are bad, what is the part number I will be looking at? I am not wanting to spend a fortune on this to fix it, but If I do get it working I would like to drop 8-16gb ram in it, and setup a raid with 2 raptors.
Is it possible to find out the RAM manufacturer on a Macbook (it's a 3rd party module) by the part number? I've been searching for the past half hour, didn't found anything relevant Here are the full RAM specs:

It's the same AC power cable you plug into the MacBook PSU if you don't want to use the plug adapter. I find the Airport sticks out too much with the plug adapter, plus it wobbles too much for my liking. I've tried a search for obvious things (power cord, AC cable) and cannot find anything.
I did find a UK company that sells the cable from recycled Macs. However it would be nice if I could find it on Apples site It's the UK cable I need!
I am needing to replace the bottom case of my late 2006 MBP. It has a large dent in it that is causing some problems. My question is, do I need to get the exact part number listed on the bottom of my laptop (A1211) or can I get a bottom from any pre-unibody MBP i.e. A1260? Also, has anyone ever replaced this part? How difficult is it? I have experience working on laptops, I've just never taken a mac this much apart.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWas looking at the buying guide but didn't see anthing on the Time Capsule as to when it was updated last and how soon the next one might be. I will be buying one in the coming months and figured with the dropping prices of Hard Drives that maybe an updated Time Capsule might come out with a lower price

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy 1 TB Time Capsule is full and I am wondering if i can either
1) add an additional hard drive to the TC to expand capacity for Time Machine backup, or
2) purchase an additional Time Capsule connect it in series to my existing unit.
I notice that TC voltage supports from 100v-240v
The thing is my TC power cord said 125v which is US stardard
Im leaving the country for awhile and the voltage there is 220v.
At moment my router is a linksys WRT54G.
But my TC 500GB just arrived at home!
Is it easy to install? Or there is a special settings?
Does anybody know if today's product updates are pretty much it, or does Apple usually updates other products as well?
I'm looking at a great deal on a new 500gb time capsule
I have a desktop mac from mid 2011 and also a 2010 mac mini. I just got a new time capsule and time machine cannot find the new time capsule. I know the new time capsule is working because I have a third machine from late 2012 that found the new time capsule easily. Could it be an operating system issue? I am running 10.9 on the machine that is working, 10.8 on the mid 2011 machine, and 10.7 on the mac mini.
Info:
Imac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

I have a Mac Book Pro with latest mac os x 10.5.6 and time capsule firmware 7.3.2
Just bought a new 1TB time capsule but having a few teething probs. I just want to set it up so that I can back up my Mac Book, wirelessy, but not use the TC to connect to the internet as I am happy with my current wireless router.
Is there an easy unerstandable way to do this as I can only seem to set it up as a network which I don't want, as I only have one computer in the house
I don't have enough space at my Time Capsule, and I noticed that I have backed-up some silly big folders like Downloads. So I assigned them for not to take backup. But time machine already took backup of them and keeps space in Time Capsule.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAt the time it seemed very practical to use a Time Capsule to share files between the members of the company (we are just 4) and this way use it as backup and server.
As we use it as the company file server to share file between member, we found out that it would be needed to make backups every now and then (preferably on monthly basis).
I bought another normal external hard drive, plugged it into the time capsule and made the backup.
I'm getting a new 13" MBA, upgrading from a 2006 macbook. I have it all backed up to time capsule. Can I just connect the MBA to my time capsule and restore the macbook image?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am planning on purchasing a mac mini solely for the purpose of playing music - it will be hooked up to a hi-fi amplifier and speakers. All of the music that will be on the computer will be in lossless format, which is very large. I will need a lot (320+ GB?) of storage.
I'm wondering if I can cut costs by buying an old 80 GB mini and augmenting its hard drive with a time capsule. I was planning on buying a time capsule anyway, so I could save something like $300. My questions are: would I be able to stream music from the time capsule to the mac mini? Would I be able to import music from itunes directly onto the time capsule? If I hook the mini up to the time capsule via USB, can it serve as a hard-drive, even if my internet is down? Is it going to be much more worth my time to buck up and buy a new 320 GB mini?
I have been using my airdisk as a method to share files. I was sharing them using a sharepoint but it required that I keep that mac on.
All seems to be fine using the airdisk (I share it over the LAN) but today I realized none of those files are getting backed up by time machine. My time machine backup is still hooked up directly to my main mac.
OSX 10.6.3
Airdisk shared via AE first edition (non-dual band)

I recently purchased an upgrade download for windows 7 online. i ended up buying windows 7 professional but now realize it's not eligible for an upgrade from windows vista home basic, only custom install. My question is, if i were to obtain a copy of the windows 7 home upgrade instead of pro, can i use the serial number i purchased for windows 7 professional on a win7 home install, or are they specific to version?
