View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm in to buy a second hand Macbook unibody - the one that didn't exist for very long, until it was slightly upgraded and rebranded as Macbook Pro. 13,3".
Differences I've found so far add up to these:
45 watt changeable vs 60 watt built-in battery
2.0 Mhz vs 2.26 Mhz
- vs Firewire 800 and SD card slot
One question would be - how much does the battery time differ between 45 and 60 watt?
Then I heard that the screen might have been updated too, something that for me makes more value than all the above. A quote comparing the white Macbook ("WhiteBook") with the unibody Macbook pro: "While both machines have 13.3-inch glossy displays, the unibody has also been upgraded to a higher-quality screen from AU Optronics with 60 percent greater color gamut, another advantage over the WhiteBook."
Does the unibody Macbook have the same screen as the white macbook, or does it have the same as the unibody Macbook pro - or something in-between? Does someone know of a comparison between the two?
I'll do a lot of graphics - picture editing - so it's important for me.
whats the watts rating of the PSU in mac pros? I cant find it anywhere.

I was wondering if I purchase the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, will I be able to use a simple DVI to VGA adapter to use it as a VGA adapter also???
I'm not sure if the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter only sends digital signal or digital & analog signal.
I have the 65W white square adapter for my 17" Powerbook, and I have the Yo-Yo adapter for my 12" Ibook (G3 500 mhz).Is there any reason why I cannot use the 65W adapter on my 12" book in place of the Yo-Yo adapter? (I know for power requirement reasons I cannot use the Yo-Yo on my 17")

I purchased a 22" Dell external monitor that i am connecting via mini display to dvi adapter. My old G4 had no DVD drive and I bought Myst IV, but could not load it. My new MBP uses 10.6.4 and Myst IV does not support anything other than X.3 or 4. Can I use my MBP dvd drive to load the game files to my G4? What kind of adaptor would I use?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDon't want to ask the Apple Store since they'll just tell me I can't, but can I use the 85W power adapter that came with the 15"MBP on the new Air with no damage? Ok, to use in a pinch?
Hmmm, how about the other way around (using a 45W power adapter on the 15"), I am thinking "no damage" just that it would take longer to re-charge?
I have a 13" MacBook that I purchased in Feb 2008, and need to do some presentations from it, so I'm looking for the correct VGA adapter for it. I believe there was some change in the display on the Macbooks, so I'm sure if the current MiniDisplay to VGA adapter sold at Apple will work for fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAre there any that a store like best Buy sells that are compatible with a Mac / Macbook? I need to pick up a signal in another room, and the only way would be to run a long USB cord attached to a wireless adapter...but it seems like none of the bigger brands sell Mac-compatible versions. If anyone knows of a compatible adapter, please post about it!

I'm not getting any signal from my tv. I think the item is fine since my macbook's resolution changes to 800X600 I tried to change it to 640X480 (I think) the lowest possible resolution and it doesn't work, Nothing happens to the tv only in my macbook.
I had an extra 45w power adapter in my office; which I used to use with my Macbook Air. So today, I mated it to my new i7 MBP15 and was expecting it not to work because of insufficient power. But it seems to work just fine.
Is there any harm in using the 45w power adapter at work and the 85w adapter on the roadhome? I'm assuming the 45w adapter just wont charge the battery as fast.
I need a new power adapter for our computers. We have an Air and a MacBookPro 15". Can I use one power adaptor for both computers without harming the smaller computer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought an iMac a couple of years ago and liked it so much I bought a Macbook Pro a week or so ago. I downloaded a tv series from iTunes last night and took the adapter from the iMac and hooked up the Macbook to the tv to watch the show> Well the show plays on the laptop monitor, but the only thing that shows up on the tv is the wallpaper that comes installed on the Macbook (the galaxy thing).

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
I've recently purchased the Retina MacBook Pro and I wanted to get an Ethernet adapter for it. I was wondering whether it would be any quicker buying the official apple thunderbolt adaptor. Or would it be just as efficinet to buy a cheaper alternative on Amazon (one that uses USB).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an older Powerbook Apple MacBook Pro Core Duo 2.16GHz 15" (2006) - A1150 that has been working fine but all of a sudden today developed a problem where it will not start with the adapter plugged in, but will start fine on battery alone. However, once started, if the adapter is plugged in it immediately powers down. I suspected the adapter and tried a known good one and it has the same issue.

i need to find out how to get my hands on the correct adapter to connect my macbook pro to my old G4 20 inch cinema display. i know there is an expensive powered unit, that is an adc to dvi adapter, but there is also just a regular dvi to adc adapter, and im not sure which one i need? or how to get my hands on one that doesnt cost over $200 (the powered one, if thats what i need)

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to share how well the Monoprice USB 2 gigabit ethernet adapter works on the new MacBook Air. It costs only $20. The speed I get is 30Mbyte/s over my wired home network. Here is the link: [URL]. For Mac OS X, you must use the drivers on the enclosed mini-CD as the default Apple ones do not work. For Bootcamp/Windows 7, download from [URL] the chip manufacturer. Works great and much faster than Apple's fast Ethernet adapter or WLAN.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook 13" (not under warranty). When the charger is connected it does not light or charge the battery. I have tested the battery and charger on another MacBook and they are fine. I have reset PRAM and SMC. Cleaned both the charger contacts and the ones on the computer. Occasionally if I leave the charger connected to the computer for several minutes I get a faint flickering light (I cant even really tell if the light is green or orange or sort of both colors combined) My guess is that something has burnt out on the main logic board. I have the computer open and have found one fuse (F 790) that is in tact. Can someone with a service manual give me some test points and possible components (voltages, etc) to check.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI also looked about for this but couldn't find anything.Im currently using a 13" mac book (Which i love) But the monitor is sooo small for using programs like logic and reason ect at the same time. I need to use an external monitor for this. I know you can get an adapter for this but do you have to duel screen your laptop with the screen. OR (This is my question) Can you keep your macbook closed maybe on a shelf somewhere and still use your macbook with a keyboard/mouse and the external monitor?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've seen a video (although in German) of a magnetic USB adapter.
In the video, the girl plugs in a male USB piece into the car's radio and fits a female USB piece on the end of a USB Drive. They magnetically attached and the radio played music.
The magnetic pieces really reminded me of the MagSafe adapter.
Does anyone know where to find the magnetic USB adapter?
I want to use it to simplify docking my MacBook Pro so I only plug in the MagSafe and USB. I'll have input devices, USB sound card, external hard drive and my iPod plugged into the USB hub hidden under the desk.
I'm going to University next September (hopefully), and I want to be able to play my PS3 on my Macbook display (instead of taking my massive TV).
And I'd also like to be able to connect my freeview box which is a RCA/Scart connection. My PS3 is also RCA/Scart.
So is there adapter of some sort which will let me do this?
this might have been discussed before, but I just cannot find a threat about it: May I use my old 85W Brick of my older 15″ for the new unibody 13" Macbook Pro? The MacSafe Adapter certainly fits. But is ist safe to use it ?
