MacBook :: 13" A/C Adapter Not Working

Jun 3, 2009

I have a MacBook 13" (not under warranty). When the charger is connected it does not light or charge the battery. I have tested the battery and charger on another MacBook and they are fine. I have reset PRAM and SMC. Cleaned both the charger contacts and the ones on the computer. Occasionally if I leave the charger connected to the computer for several minutes I get a faint flickering light (I cant even really tell if the light is green or orange or sort of both colors combined) My guess is that something has burnt out on the main logic board. I have the computer open and have found one fuse (F 790) that is in tact. Can someone with a service manual give me some test points and possible components (voltages, etc) to check.

Hardware :: Macbook Pro MagSafe Adapter Not Working

Feb 1, 2010

My Magsafe adapter for my Macbook Pro all of a sudden stopped working. It's no longer charging my MBP. I've noticed usually when charging my MBP if i listen to the adapter it will give the sound like very small motor or gears are running. Now it just sounds like a long beeping sound. I was wondering if this is some known defect, because I made an appointment with the Genius bar for tomorrow and from what I have heard Apple is known for replacing defected parts even if they are out of warranty.

MacBook Pro :: Magsafe Adapter Light Not Working

Jul 8, 2010

I had my original MBP charger replaced a while ago because the magsafe adapter light was not working. (but it charged the computer fine, weirdly enough) Then, about a month ago, the light on that one went out too. The apple store replaced it with one of the new MBA chargers style. That one worked for about a day, and now intermittently goes off. What is wrong here?

Hardware :: Mini DP To VGA Adapter Not Working With Mac Pro?

Apr 28, 2009

So I got my new Mac Pro a few days ago. 2.26, 8-Core, 4870. But I am having problems with my Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter, the screen I have at the moment only has VGA input but I am getting the 24" Apple LED Display in a few months. When connected to my current display with the adapter the Mac Pro doesn't detect any info about it and cant find or display the correct resolution, my girlfriend has a macbook and she can use the adapter fine to connect it to the same display, its 1680 x 1050, and the MacBook finds this is the native resolution and displays everything correctly. However when the Mac Pro is connected it doesn't find the correct resolutions for my display, the closest resolution it shows is 1400 x 1050, and this looks horrible on my screen. I was starting to think it is the 4870 card, and that it can't do that resolution but I borrowed a DVI to VGA adapter and that worked fine, showing the 1680 x 1050, so why doesn't the mini display port work at this resolution?

PowerPC :: Battery Not Charging Or Working Without Adapter

Dec 23, 2007

This morning my ibook was on sleep (was working 100% last night chagring while I was using it) and this afternoon took it off sleep and used it around the house. Now when I went to put it on charge nothing was happening just going from calculating and then back to battery(not cool) so I thought I would try with out the battery and as I suspected the comp turned off so its not even running off the adapter.

I don't think it would b the adapter thats the problem because it was working a few hours before and is almost new. So is it the DC in board? I've tried resenting the Pram and the other power one. Also when my ibook was plugged into my 5.1 system it always made a buzzing sound from the speakers when it was on AC power but when unplugged was fine however now it makes no sound at all but if turned up really loud makes a clicking sound.

I remember reading about 2 different types of DVI but i was assured that the Macbook supports both types.

Anyone have any ideas?

Mac Pro :: Mini Display Port To Dual Link DVI Adapter Not Working

Jul 5, 2009

6 weeks ago I bought a Mac Pro Dual Quad 2,66 with an ATI HD 4870 graphic adapter. System is OS X 10.5.7. I try to get an Eizo 30" display (SX 3031W) working with this configuration. Using the signal connector #1 on the Eizo , the display will show up to 2560x1600 resolution (as it should be) but after selecting this option will fall back to 1600x1200 pixel. I tried installing on the DVI plug of the card and also on the minidisplay-port using the "Mini Displayport to Dual Link DVI adapter" from Apple but up to now it does not work.

MacBook Pro :: Mini DisplayPort To DVI Adapter With DVI To VGA Adapter?

Buying both the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter AND Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter is pretty expensive...

I was wondering if I purchase the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, will I be able to use a simple DVI to VGA adapter to use it as a VGA adapter also???

I'm not sure if the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter only sends digital signal or digital & analog signal.

Hardware :: Mac Book Pro 15" Mini Display To DVI Adapter To Screen Not Working?

Jan 11, 2011

I have an 2010 Mac Book Pro 15" - I've bought MiniDisplayPort to DVI adapter but when I try to connect it to my screen it does not work.

When I connect the cable to the computer the MacBook internal display do a flicker (turn on and right back on) so it defiantly "fell" something but the external screen does not show anything.

Also in the System Profiler in Graphics/Display both Intel and NVidia video cards show

Display Connector:

Status:No Display Connected

Is it possible that the adapter is simply defected or there is other issues?

Don't want to ask the Apple Store since they'll just tell me I can't, but can I use the 85W power adapter that came with the 15"MBP on the new Air with no damage? Ok, to use in a pinch?

Hmmm, how about the other way around (using a 45W power adapter on the 15"), I am thinking "no damage" just that it would take longer to re-charge?

MacBook Pro :: Using 45w Power Adapter On The New MBP?

I had an extra 45w power adapter in my office; which I used to use with my Macbook Air. So today, I mated it to my new i7 MBP15 and was expecting it not to work because of insufficient power. But it seems to work just fine.

Is there any harm in using the 45w power adapter at work and the 85w adapter on the roadhome? I'm assuming the 45w adapter just wont charge the battery as fast.

MacBook Air :: USB 2.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Jan 11, 2011

Just wanted to share how well the Monoprice USB 2 gigabit ethernet adapter works on the new MacBook Air. It costs only $20. The speed I get is 30Mbyte/s over my wired home network. Here is the link: [URL]. For Mac OS X, you must use the drivers on the enclosed mini-CD as the default Apple ones do not work. For Bootcamp/Windows 7, download from [URL] the chip manufacturer. Works great and much faster than Apple's fast Ethernet adapter or WLAN.
