I am looking to for something that will let me take my HD antenna and get it to go to my display. Is there anything that will allow me to do that? I'm just looking for something that'll work with the HD antenna, I'm not really concerned about cable TV or anything like that.
View 4 RepliesAs you can tell by the thread title I've got one of the latest model iMacs and I'm running an LED Cinema Display as a second monitor. When it gets to the late hours I like to watch some movies on the Mac so I figured the Cinema Display would be a nice addition to do the job.
Now here's my issue: if it's late and I'm watching movies I tend to not have any lights on, but having one of the displays on means having both of them on, what I'm wondering is if it's possible to sleep one display while allowing the other to stay active so I can watch the movie without the light from the other one distracting
I finally got my 62" Plasma .. and I want to watch movies with it using my MacBook unibody... I already have mini Dp --> HDMI adapter which works flawless, but My macbook is sitting on the desk about 5 m to the right of the screen so I can't see my mouse moving on the Plasma.When I choose to clone the screen, it will set the Plasma to my Macbook's Resolution, which is not what I had in mind... is there any way i can set my macbooks resloution to FULL-HD?I know my screen can only display 1280x800 pixel at once, but is there a way to make OSX think that this is a Full HD screen? so kinda like a little bit zoomed in Full HD display ? I would be fine if it could work like the magnifying glass (ctrl + scroll)
the second option would be to buy a external 22-24" Full HD monitor for my Desk and a HDMI Y Splitter, i have a 22" but its not full HD (16:10) would that work better if I just use that instead of the built in macbook screen (+ aHDMI y Splitter)
Basically on windows vista, the nvidia control panel let me create custom resolutions for my HDTV display. Is this possible in Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy macbook pro has been connecting to my TV appropriately for months. The display is suddenly changing to a different default when I connect now. It was fine two weeks ago and has done 3 software updates in between. I have not loaded other new software. When the thunderbolt connection is made, both screens turn blue, then both display a screen resolution formatting that doesn't fit the screens.

I was wondering what connections I could use to view my hdtv via directtv thru the larger 27" LED cinema display?
I tried connecting the HDMI cable to HDMI satellite receiver box to hdmi port on mac mini and then using the display settings detect display. I also tried the mini DVI to HDMI connector directly to the LED cinema display port connection but could not get any HD reception to cinema display. What I could do is view the LED cinema display and picture of the cinema display to the monitor of the HDTV.

I bought the Mini Display Port to HDMI & HDMI to HDMI cables to hook my MacBook Air to my HDTV. I don't want mirroring. I want my HDTV to be a separate display. I have the mirroring not ticked but when I do my HDTV only shows the background of my OS and not the dock nor the menu bar/windows.
I'm looking to have a display hookup in my room for my Macbook Pro 15". I can't decide if i should get a 26" 720p HDTV with a pc input or a large lcd desktop display with a cable input to watch tv.
What are the pros/cons? Has anyone tried/preferred either? Any recommended monitors or hdtvs?
New MacBook rocks and in cables to hook it up to my Sanyo HDTV 1080p. I plug in the HDMI cable and the picture comes on.
However, every once in awhile the screen goes black and it says "Signal Not Found." Also, every time I turn on the MacBook I have to unplug the HDMI cable, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in before it will detect the external display.
I have everything connected and working to display my MBP to my Sony Bravia HDTV. I am using the TV as a second display. When I choose full screen for my iTunes movie, it goes black. The iTunes movie plays in reduced screen. Does anyone have a solution how I can play full screen?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new MBA. First week no problems. Now the display doesn't start when I start up the computer. If the display is open as usual, around 110 degrees. If I almost close the display, just enough to get the finger in and start up, the displays lights up. If I then bend it up to approx 110 degrees prior to logging in the display turns black. If I log in when the display is almost closed I can bend the display as I like 100ds of times and the MBA works as usual.

But I don't want it like that all the time, for instance when I play games it's really irritating if I drag the mouse to much to the side it goes out to the TV. How do I turn it off? In Linux and Windows it's no problem at all, but in OS X I can't find that option?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received a new Macbook Pro (2012, retina display) and a 27" Thunderbolt display. I am having problems getting the notebook to turn on the display. I called Apple (Monday) and they had me reset the SMC and then the PRAM. After this the monitor was recognized and worked fine for the rest of the evening. However, when I turned things on yesterday evening the monitor would not turn on, and resetting the SMC and PRAM (multiple times) has no effect.

With my dad's MacBook pro I was able to hook it up to our HDTV using a DVI to VGA adapter, but we were never able to hook up the audio. Have any of you connected your laptops to an HDTV? If there were a video plus audio solution, that would be ideal, but I'm guessing that is not the case. So is there a cheap video adapter I can buy? My TV has HDMI, VGA, and various component inputs.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently received a late 2007 mac mini as a hand me down from my parents and I'm trying to hook it up to a Sony HDTV via HDMI to DVI cable. I bought the cables I needed and attempted to set it up, however when I turn on the system nothing appears on the display. I've been searching posts and various forums, but haven't really made any progress because most troubleshooting guides are focused upon display problems like pixels and refreshes.
Unfortunately I don't have a VGA monitor to use (which is what the mini was previously used on) to try and see if that works.
Windows user here that just ordered a 27" QuadCore iMac. Usually on my PC at home, whenever i'm not using it I turn off the monitor but leave the computer itself running most of the time (I run a lot of torrents, VNC, etc). Is there a way to turn off only the display and keep the computer running like I normally would on the PC?

i have 2 LCD's hooked to the new Mini as such:
1 going mini display port to DVI adapter to DVI on 19" Monitor (standard monitor)
1 going mini DVI to DVI adapter to a DVI to HDMI on 52" LCD (Samsung TV)
i just sold me iMac and switched to the Mini not only to be able to hide the Mini which i couldn't do with the iMac but also when i watch a movie full screen on the 52 i was never able to turn off the iMac monitor and would have to cover it with a towel so that it was dark in the room except for the 52 showing the movie.
my thought was that with 2 monitors separately hooked up to the Mini that i could solve the turning off the second monitor problem as they would now both have power buttons. besides making it dark in the room i also like to have the monitor off and so that i can have Plex on the 52 always in full screen mode so my wife can just hit "Watch Plex" on the logitech remote and the TV and Stereo switch to the proper inputs and away she goes to watch whatever without having to touch the computer which when both monitors are on works perfectly.
My display turned progressively bluer.

I need to connect my 09' Mac Mini to my Yamaha RX-V2700 receiver which outputs to my Sony XBR HDTV. I know the mini has both mini-dvi to dvi and mini-dp to dvi or hdmi available via adapters. I was thinking to go with option 1 however I was wondering what is your opinions? Is mini-display port better over mini-dvi or are they the same? Audio will be carried over optical toslink.

I have my 2010 Mac mini hooked up via HDMI to my Denon receiver, which is in turn hooked up to my HDTV. I can only get the mini to push 60hz. Why can't I get it to push at least 120hz? Should I try to get more hz via SwitchresX?

With a new mini, I'd love the ability to connect it to my 36" HDTV and connect wirelessly with a keyboard and mouse from my couch. I would love to be able to use the Mac from the comfort of my living room for both work and pleasure. (I'm a bit of a gamer as well)

I have a Mac Mini that I use as a HTPC with an *old* 30" CRT TV. I want to slightly repurpose the machine so that I can use it for both work and play. At first I was thinking about a 30" monitor and a TV tuner, but my 2007 Mini can't drive it at full resolution.
Now I'm thinking about a a 1080P HDTV, but I'm not sure what would be a good size if I want to use it as both a monitor (sitting relatively close) and a TV. I use a 30" Apple ACD at work and it is *plenty* big enough for my work needs, but I know the resolution of an HDTV is much lower. Any suggestions about what size is a good compromise to function as both a TV and a PC? Also, any specific model or brand recommendations? I'm new to HDTVs...

In edition I have a regular flat screen monitor that I would like to use as a slave for pallettes etc. My question is, what kind of adapter do I need? On the back of my G5 there are two monitor inputs, one slightly longer than the other. I got a DVI male to HDMI Cable that allows me to connect the HDTV to the less wide of the two inputs but it does not yield an HD Picture. I think what I need is an adapter or cable that would go in the winder of the two slots and then to my HDTV but I dont know what it would be called or what to even look for. Are there two types of DVI male to HDMI Cables, one wider than the other?

I have some tv shows downloaded that I'd like to watch on my HDTV. I currently have a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and a 3.5mm male to male audio cable that I plug into the TV and the headphone jack on my MBP.
1. The audio does not work. Is there a setting somewhere I must enable?
2. Would I be better off buying some other sort of cable?
3. What are my options for displaying my MBP screen on the TV and where do I access these options? When I hook up the adapter it just extends my screen to the TV.
Perhaps I need a MBP to TV guide of some sort. I can get this done easily with my old PC but I"d really like to do it with my MBP.
