Hardware :: Small Recording Device For Journaling?
Jun 28, 2009
I would like to find an inexpensive mini recording device for journaling... audio quality not a big concern... but something I could speak into then easily transfer to and archive on my MacBook. I would transfer like this often, so would like something that came with an app to capture it easily, via USB, for example, or wirelessly via BlueTooth.

I have an Olympus recording device, a small mini recorder i use to record messages to myself; it works great. I transfer to my MacBook via USB. I would like to occasionally record phone conversations for my online business so i don't forget stuff. Is there a way to do this, just from a regular phone or from my Motorola cell phone?

Just wondering if the 4200 HD in the macbook air is fast enough to record audio in real time using a usb audio interface, like a tascam US-122?
I want to know whether it would be possible for 24-bit recording. Using this very portable machine to replace endless pounds worth of powerbook/power adapter etc will just make my live a whole lot easier. Can the 4200 do it? or do you need SD?

Using a new MacBook (C2D, 2.16 GHz) but am multibooting with number of Linux OSes. To make OS X writable from Linux, I need to remove journaling from the OS X partition. So, I go to Disk Utility and here's the info available about my Mac OS X partition: Quote:
Mount Point :/Capacity :113.0 GB (121,332,826,112 Bytes)
Format :Mac OS Extended (Journaled)Available :54.2 GB (58,217,304,064 Bytes)
Owners Enabled :YesUsed :58.8 GB (63,115,522,048 Bytes)
Number of Folders :115,197Number of Files :436,726
t looks like it's journaled so I should be able to disable journaling, right? now I go to File and look for a Disable Journaling option. But it's not there. What's there is Enable Journaling but even this is grayed out.

We're hunting for a small printer for a crowded office space. There's a not much desk space or shelf space.
Only need something to print. No scanning, faxing or other functions! Hoping we can get Canon that is compatible with the inkjet 40 and 41 cartridges as we already have a printer that uses those.
Requirements:
Text documents
Photo printing

I need a solution that won't cost me thousands. I want to record my Xbox 360 gameplay in good quality, without sacrificing playing in HD, and I don't want to spend over $150 or 100.

I want to record and edit my Xbox 360 gameplay, the item I want to buy says it uses USB 3. My macbook pro has an expresscard port do they make adapters for the expresscard that are compatible with macs? Also [URL] that is what I want to use to record my gameplay since I use Component HD. My question about the recorder is can I record and play at the same time on my tv or is there a way I can split the signal from my xbox? Sorry If this doesnt make sense I rushed this!

I am learning a new song on the piano and it is played, at the lowest, 3 octaves down from middle C. The problem is my keyboard only has 64 keys and only reaches to the second octave down.
I am using a MIDI connection and I want to be able to have GarageBand transpose the keyboard while I am playing. So, say I play the song up on middle C but it would sound like it was down 3 octaves.
I can't find a way to do this while recording. You can transpose after you record, that is not a problem, but it would nice to hear it the right way while I play it. Any suggestions?
I have searched all through GarageBand can't find a way. Might be another suggestion I send to apple as feedback soon.

I am having trouble with the sound of CDs recorded in iTunes. They sound kind of like they're in a tunnel. What are the best settings to have iTunes on when recording and also importing songs. Some songs have been purchased through iTunes while others were directly imported from CDs that I currently have. I just don't seem to be able to find a great way to record these.

I'm sure I'm in the wrong forum, I have a very sentimental voicemail from my nephew that will be erased tonight at midnight. I need to know if there is an easy way to record the voicemail on to the computer using the microphone or a relatively easy way to download it. I do not have an iPhone. I have a plain old Samsung.

I live in Greece, and I REALLY want to see the Fins/Jets game tonight, but the problem is, the game starts at 330am local time. My question is, is there any way that I can record a stream online? Would i be able to record it using the new Quicktime screen record feature, and if I can, would it also play the sound? If not, does anyone else have any other ideas?

I tried to record some audio (voice) with garageband earlier this day and it didn't work! I have a built in microphone that is working fine, it tested it (mac OS X, version 10.5.8) and my input volume level is turned up (system preferences). I tried to record with isight (imovie) and can record a video, but no sound eighter. I've been able to record in the past with garageband so i haven't a single clue what happened.

I have a couple questions regarding GarageBand 08 and recording with it.
1) Is it possible to connect a vocal mic to GarageBand, put an effect on that, and have a live output of the signal coming from the mic with the effect on it without having to record the audio first?
2) I have a Yamaha keyboard that has a MIDI and 1/4" jack output on. I am interested in connecting the keyboard to my Mac for use in recording. Would it be possible to run the audio signal from the 1/4" jack to the 1/8" jack on my Mac and record the audio in GarageBand and be able to apply effects to that track (i.e. synthesizers)?

First off, I want to record Xbox 360 gameplay to my Mac. I have an Xbox 360 Slim and a computer monitor.
I connect my Xbox to my monitor using HDMI because HDMI and VGA are the ONLY 2 ports in my monitor. I connect the optical audio from my Xbox to my Turtle Beach X41 headphones. My Turtle Beach headphone receiver has an optical in and optical out. I have the optical in connected to my Xbox and when I'm playing with friends I connect the optical out to a surround sound speaker system in my room.
The big problem here is that I want to record high definition gameplay with a Hauppauge HD PVR to my MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz Intel C2D with 4GB of RAM). I also want to use a video amplifier splitter so I can get even better quality video.

I'm buying a MacBook Pro this week, and I can't decide whether to get the 2.53 ghz model or the 2.8 ghz model. I don't play games, but I will be recording a lot of music. I'll be using some sort of audio recording program, producing songs with as many as 20 tracks each with lots of effects like reverb, compression, etc. I also want this to be the only computer I use (for internet, photos, word processing, maybe some video) for at least the next six years. So what do you think? Is it worth the extra dough to upgrade to the 2.8 ghz model, or is the 2.53 ghz model a better value?

I'd like to record some guitar tracks into this free trial version of Deck 3.5Le. I heard about the "imic" and wondered if that would be a good source to input my sounds.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to set up a little studio, i'd be happy to hear them.
I don't want to get too crazy, keeping it simple, on the cheaper side but I'd still like to get some good, decent recording.
I'm looking for advice on studio/multitrack software and usb audio line input devices and any other helpful
info.
My mac is this:
ibook 600
640MB
20G HD
OS 10.1.5(soon to be Jaguar in one week)
ps-i'm not really messin w/ the MIDI, just electric guitar, and acoustic/electric guitar and some bass guitar, maybe a drum machine (if my buddy lets me borrow it).

I'm using Safari 3.2.2 and it will not record any history. I have tried to fix it every possible way I could think off:
1. Checking if Private Browsing is on. [It wasn't]
2. Resetting Safari. [Still won't record]
3. Uninstalling and Reinstalling [No effect]
Is it possibly because of a missing file?
