View 3 RepliesI have a high end stereo and the compression through Itunes is obvious and music quality notifibly inferior to CD's. I'm sure that i heard that Apple recognised this and were going to offer a higher (larger file size) alternative through itunes?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI make memos and recordings at my office and have realized that the sound on some of these is extremly low, i mean really really low, I know that if I could just increase the volume I could distinguish what is said. Is there any way to do this for personally made recordings? My recorder records in 3gp, I need something that will increase the volume of that.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am using QuickTime to record audios of myself talking in a quiet room, using the built-in microphone, but I just found that the audio quality is poor, even less than the voice memos I recorded on my iPod touch 4 (I said the same thing in the same room). Although I can hear my every words, I think it is near the sound quality of talking on telephone; the voice is not clear and pure.
I have the model of early 2011 MacBook Pro, with the newest OS X Mountain Lion.
When I right click a folder and select "Compress", it goes to about 99% and stalls... Doesn't budge, no beachball, it just doesn't move forever. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.2, anyone else having this issue? I did a clean install.

Preview is saving it's own version of file and file is 6 times larger than it was before.
First it happened after puting notes, now it's enough to open the file.
Info:
Preview 7.0, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), autosave without jpg compression
Started archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
is there any way to export the movie as high as my project quality everytime i export the quality goes down.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn FCPX 10.1.3 I was able to set in Preferences the Playback Quality to High Quality. I just purchased FCPx 10.1.4. It has NO such High Quality Option for Playback Quality.
Now all my still clips are blurred badly. Is there an option to set a High Quality Playback Option. Or can I download 10.1.3, the level where that worked ?
Info:
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
When I export my sequence into a Quicktime movie the quality is much worse than it appears in the editor. More specifically, it looks washed out.

View 18 Replies View RelatedAs you may already know, in order to reduce the size of Snow Leopard many of the system files are stored compressed. There are some technical details about this new compression in Ars Technica's Snow Leopard review but no details about how to use it for your own files. So I looked through the Snow Leopard command line tools and found this option for ditto:

do you know a http proxy server software (osx or linux) with gzip compression ? What I want to achieve is connect with my iPhone via this proxy to limit the 3G data usage.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've always backed up the DVDs I've purchased for when the originals get scratched. On a PC I had a decent workflow that involved a decrypter, a compressor, and Roxio burning ROM. Now on a Mac I'm a bit lost. I've used handbrake to rip DVDs to be playable in iTunes and have Burn installed, but there seems to be something missing, namely a compression tool and the ability to keep the original DVDs menu structure, etc. I know about Mactheripper but am lost after that. Shed some light on this for me?

I am learning a new song on the piano and it is played, at the lowest, 3 octaves down from middle C. The problem is my keyboard only has 64 keys and only reaches to the second octave down.
I am using a MIDI connection and I want to be able to have GarageBand transpose the keyboard while I am playing. So, say I play the song up on middle C but it would sound like it was down 3 octaves.
I can't find a way to do this while recording. You can transpose after you record, that is not a problem, but it would nice to hear it the right way while I play it. Any suggestions?
I have searched all through GarageBand can't find a way. Might be another suggestion I send to apple as feedback soon.
I am having trouble with the sound of CDs recorded in iTunes. They sound kind of like they're in a tunnel. What are the best settings to have iTunes on when recording and also importing songs. Some songs have been purchased through iTunes while others were directly imported from CDs that I currently have. I just don't seem to be able to find a great way to record these.

NOTE: I do not use a microphone, mine is built in. Please help me to get rid of it.
I tried to record some audio (voice) with garageband earlier this day and it didn't work! I have a built in microphone that is working fine, it tested it (mac OS X, version 10.5.8) and my input volume level is turned up (system preferences). I tried to record with isight (imovie) and can record a video, but no sound eighter. I've been able to record in the past with garageband so i haven't a single clue what happened.
