View 6 RepliesI'm looking for a printer with the following:
- Color
- Has automatic two-sided printing
- Works well with OSX
- Small footprint is a plus, but not a dealbreaker
- If it has a scanner that would be nice, but not required
- I don't really care about WiFi printing
I'm going to use the printer mostly to print out reports and long pdf documents. I don't really care for photo printing.
I think it's time for me to go to wireless printing, and I'm tired of printing only single-sided (or trying to manually feed printed paper back in to try to get it two-sided.
Are there affordable laser printers out there that print duplex, have wireless, and are Mac-compatible?
As with most companies, ours is on a push to go greener. The IP department has decided that one thing that can be done is to encourage the use of duplex printers. We have one, but from the Mac you must go in and specifically select printing on both sides somewhere in the print screen for each app. Is there a way in the setup of the printer to make duplex printing the default?

My lab just got a new HP Color LaserJet CP3525 and while everyone else can print double sided (both Linux and OS X), I am utterly unable to. I don't even have the option. This is weird, because I have the correct drivers installed and in the system preferences panel, I have the option for duplex printer checked.

I am looking to get a color laser printer within the next three months or so, I am getting sick walking to the one of the computer labs at my college. The HP one that I was looking at (1200-something) isn't compatible, or so people claimed in the Amazon reviews. I don't need anything super fancy, just something good enough for term papers and good color documents.

I have always had HP, but I have grown tired of their driver issues, etc. I have never had any Canon computer products before, but they have 2 new models that look appealing to me.

before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
Brand new HP Photosmart C4480 from Apple Store (connected via USB to AEBS)...
Prints fine from both MBP (unibody) and Vista lappy...but only in COLOR!
Why on earth would this be...could it be something simple as the black ink cartridge straight out of the box has ink problems? I've re-seated the black just to make sure, but seriously prints nothing in black...only color!
Looking for a Wireless color all in one laser printer, It looks like Brother is the only one that makes it? I also heard you can't scan or fax wirelessly, only print? These three are in the $300-$500 range. Price is not a concern, quality is, as is wireless printing if possible or at least attached to my Time Capsule. Which would you choose, or would you recommend something else? - HP Color Laser All in One CC431A#A2L - Brother Wireless All-In-One Laser Printer (MFC7840W)- Canon Color imageCLASS MF8050CN Multifunction Printer

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm finding myself having to print notes and articles more than I used to and I decided it's time to look into a color laser printer. I'm looking for something with modestly priced toner, a relatively small footprint, doesn't require a lot of power, prints double-sided, and that plays nice with mac. Looks like samsung, hp, and brother offer some nice choices, just not sure where to start.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying decide between a Canon or Brother color laser multifunction printer. Quite honestly we don't do a lot of color printing, but I'm so tired of clogged inkjets (can you say Epson) that I'm trying to stay clear of them. A multifunction inkjet would seem appropriate for our situation, but I don't want to have clean printheads once a month. Even if we do get a mutlfunctional laser I still need a a small photoprinter for quick photos prints. My other option is a multifunctional inkjet and then a B&W laser printer. I'm down to Canon and Brother based on the fact both seem to work well with Macs and don't have the bloated software that comes with HP. I can't find any reviews on the Canon lasers since they are relatively new. The Brother machines seem to get good reviews, but quite a few complain about the color prints.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've narrowed my Color Laser Printer (multi-function) search to the Brother 9840CDW ($624), Ricoh SP C232SF ($650), Konica Minolta 4690MF($640)/4695MF($1050), and Samsung CLX-6200FX($510). Prices are ephemeral. I'm tempted to take another look at Dell in case I mistakenly dropped them from consideration mistakenly. Konica Minolta seems to support PostScript. Brother seems to offer emulation via Ghostscript. Ricoh and Samsung employ emulation via PCL. I'm interested in buying the new Adobe Creative Suite in 2010/11, when its GCD/OpenCL enabled (fingers crossed). Should I be concerned about this Postscript emulation? What do folks with the current Creative Suite (Windows too) and Color Laser Printers observe today? Does emulation make a big difference on printer output and performance?

i really want to customize my macbook. i want to change the color logo to apple classic color. (but not for a while) the main thing i want to do is something like this [URL] the second picture to last. the guy with a suit and a hat, being covered with the apple logo. i want something like that, only not that image. you get the idea though. where can i get something like this? are they stickers as well? or are they laser engraved? i do not want it permanent on my macbook, since i get easily bored with the same look
