I'm finding myself having to print notes and articles more than I used to and I decided it's time to look into a color laser printer. I'm looking for something with modestly priced toner, a relatively small footprint, doesn't require a lot of power, prints double-sided, and that plays nice with mac. Looks like samsung, hp, and brother offer some nice choices, just not sure where to start.
View 9 RepliesI am looking to get a color laser printer within the next three months or so, I am getting sick walking to the one of the computer labs at my college. The HP one that I was looking at (1200-something) isn't compatible, or so people claimed in the Amazon reviews. I don't need anything super fancy, just something good enough for term papers and good color documents.

I have always had HP, but I have grown tired of their driver issues, etc. I have never had any Canon computer products before, but they have 2 new models that look appealing to me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying decide between a Canon or Brother color laser multifunction printer. Quite honestly we don't do a lot of color printing, but I'm so tired of clogged inkjets (can you say Epson) that I'm trying to stay clear of them. A multifunction inkjet would seem appropriate for our situation, but I don't want to have clean printheads once a month. Even if we do get a mutlfunctional laser I still need a a small photoprinter for quick photos prints. My other option is a multifunctional inkjet and then a B&W laser printer. I'm down to Canon and Brother based on the fact both seem to work well with Macs and don't have the bloated software that comes with HP. I can't find any reviews on the Canon lasers since they are relatively new. The Brother machines seem to get good reviews, but quite a few complain about the color prints.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've narrowed my Color Laser Printer (multi-function) search to the Brother 9840CDW ($624), Ricoh SP C232SF ($650), Konica Minolta 4690MF($640)/4695MF($1050), and Samsung CLX-6200FX($510). Prices are ephemeral. I'm tempted to take another look at Dell in case I mistakenly dropped them from consideration mistakenly. Konica Minolta seems to support PostScript. Brother seems to offer emulation via Ghostscript. Ricoh and Samsung employ emulation via PCL. I'm interested in buying the new Adobe Creative Suite in 2010/11, when its GCD/OpenCL enabled (fingers crossed). Should I be concerned about this Postscript emulation? What do folks with the current Creative Suite (Windows too) and Color Laser Printers observe today? Does emulation make a big difference on printer output and performance?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI am having more issues with my MacBook Pro and it's really starting to irrate me, because I know if I take it to the Apple Store they aren't going to do anything about it. But anyways, lately my screen has been turning all kinds of colors. For example I'll be watching a video on YouTube and all of a sudden my screen will go solid white. And the only way to fix it is the restart by holding down the power button. The second time it happened it turn black. And each time it happens a different color appears. So far I've had white, black, blue, purple, green, and red.

As you know, there are several Office versions. The Professional and Special Media boast Exchange server support, whereas Home and Student does not have it. I wonder, what is it all about? Are there any special files that one can copy and enable this support? I could not find anything specific to this issue on my computer. Moreover, no direct reply from Google searches.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Office 2008 Home and Student installed on my MBP. I recently upgraded to a hosted Exchange solution and they offer a download of Entourage 2008 that will allow Exchange Server interaction.
When I loaded that version over top of my install, Entourage will not open. It gives me an error about the identity not being able to open the item.
im in search of a mac. Not going to go over specs but anyway. As a pc user looking for an upgrade and to try something different, i have now come to the crossroad on what to buy for word processing and the works. Now i have been using office 2007 for the past year and a half and have rehabilitated to the new format. Since the pc version of office 2007 will not run on a mac and i will be forced to pay $150 for the one for the mac. Which is better. I works it only $100 in Canada (going to make that clear i live in Canada) Will i miss Office 2007 or will i work be something that i will enjoy to work with.

What about getting an old laser printer? It would be extra cool to have one on a network with all the other Macs. I guess they must have TCP/IP to work with post-AppleTalk versions of the OS.
One of my summer projects I think is going to be getting as much paper out of my room as I can, it's all over the place. There is stuff I'd like to keep obviously, so I was thinking of buying a cheap scanner. But I figured, if I'm going to buy a cheap scanner, might as well go all the way and get an All-In-One Laser Printer. I don't want to spend too much, and I don't need it to print pictures or anything graphically intensive. The farthest I'd go would be some graphs most likely. And I'd like it to be moveable so I can take it to school with me.

I ran a utility scan that showed that the printer was hooked up and receiving and sending signals, but I keep getting an error message saying that the Printer is offline! Mac can see the printer on the Windows Network, but the HP driver install disk does not. I can't seem to locate the P1006 on the Mac hard disk, and it does not show up on the driver list in printer setup.
