Hardware :: Keyboard With Touchpad Compatible With OS X?
Jan 17, 2010
Well I finally got an adapter to attach my Macbook to my TV. Although now I need a keyboard so I don't have to get up to type (In my defense It is really a hassle to walk across the room to hit pause). I wanted to get one with a built in mouse so it isn't a hassle.
I was looking at many but only found some that worked with Windows. So I am asking if anyone here has one and do you recommend it? And I want to stay away from the joysticks and lean towards a touchpad or trackball.

I have been a Mac convert for the last 18 months and am the proud owner of a Macbook 4.1 Dual Core, 2.4GHz using MAC OSX v 10.5.8. For no apparent reason, neither the Keyboard or the Touchpad respond and I end up using a Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard which work perfectly ok. To make matters worse, this issue comes and go's without warning. I can go two months with everything ok, then suddenly it all stops working and then suddenly it's all ok again. It is almost as if there is a way of disabling these functions which I have inadvertently done. I have re-loaded the operating system which has not achieved anything.

My wife's macbook air (rev. A) just developed this weird problem. She is putting MBA into sleep mode on battery, and the next time when MBA wakes up from sleep mode, the trackpad and keyboard does not work at all. She restarted the MBA and nothing has changed. Luckily the logitech bluetooth mouse and the usb port is still working. We are running OSX leopard dual boot with Vista ultimate 32 bits using bootcamp. But because the "option" key is not working, we don't know how to boot into windows. It is only 8 month old and we have bought the three year apple care. However, she is in China now, I am not sure if the warranty service there is as good.
What do your guys think the problem might be and what should I do about it? She don't have a superdrive with her and if we want to re-install OS, we don't want to lose the windows partition.

Some Googling and some searches here have led me to a bunch of discontinued products from Adesso, and a bunch of crappy keyboards that state they're only compatible with Windows/Vista. I need to find something that has a built-in touchpad that's Mac compatible like the DiNovo edge touchpad is, but with a plug-in USB option rather than Bluetooth.

I'm installing OS X on my Apple TV (because I got sick of the regular ATV OS being stupid about network mounts), so I thought I'd take advantage of having a real OS on there and toss a keyboard in the living room in case we want to browse the web or something. I don't want a mouse laying around, just a slim wireless (RF) keyboard with a built-in touchpad. Anyone have any recommendations?

My desk configuration for my imac includes a keyboard tray. I am contemplating just not using it, however it really does put the keyboard in a more natural place for me to sit correctly. If I want to use the wired keyboard though, I will obviously need some type of usb extension. I have read these came with the old keyboards, but they don't come with the new ones. Does anyone know where I can find one that is compatible with the aluminum keyboard? Would the extenders that came with the old Mac keyboards work (in case i can find one on ebay or something)?

I'm currently in the market for a new 2.0 Mac Mini, however, I just can't decide which keyboard and mouse I should get. I don't really like the Apple keyboard and the mighty mouse is pretty bad. I am currently using a slim Kensington keyboard, which I must say is a very good keyboard. My mouse is a logitech G9 gaming mouse which I really love.
Question is will I be able to use both of them on my Mac Mini by just plugging it in to the USB ports on the back of the Mini? I really want to keep them, they are both black and I like to match my desktop. If I can't use them, is there a way to program them to work with my Mini? If there is a way to program them, how do I do it?

I want to buy a 61-key electronic keyboard with full-sized, semi-weighted keys. I want to be able to play it by itself, but I also want to connect it to my intel iMac running Leopard so I can use Garage Band. I have researched several brands, but cannot find much on mac-compatibility, particularly Leopard-compatibility.

I just got a new Macbook and I'm loving it! I also have a desktop PC, although I much prefer using the Mac I have some programs and such that can only be on PC or that I cannot afford to buy for Mac. The one issue about having a laptop is that I find typing when at my desk quite difficult, and have started getting back and shoulder ache from leaning forward to type. I thought about getting a wireless keyboard (and maybe a mouse too) so that I can use a keyboard for the Mac when at my desk. The thing is, I already have a PC keyboard and mouse on my desk and have limited space. Is there an option for a wireless keyboard that is compatible for both PC and Mac? And is it possible to have one keyboard and mouse for two computers? I probably won't be using the two at the same time ever.

I have an iMac (24inch first gen aluminum one). The keyboard shorted out and the mighty mouse roller ball at the top doesn't always work. I noticed that the current mac wireless bluetooth keyboard does not have a numeric keypad. What's a good mac compatible keyboard that has bluetooth and a numeric keypad. Also, what are some good options for mice? I don't play games on the computer, I use it for web stuff, MS office stuff, and aperture for photo editing.

So I just bought a new MacBook Pro and am having issues with the trackpad. I'm sure it's just me, possibly a setting I can change, but randomly when I'm viewing websites the page will shrink in size. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm touching some part of the trackpad and accidentally doing some gesture that I can't find. It's not the ctrl+two finger zoom, it's just within the window in Safari.

It's brand new as of this morning - the mouse moves but I can't click on anything. I tried resetting the PRAM or whatever that is and I used the tab/space keys to get through the welcome screen. But now, I can't really do anything.

Is there a way to activate three and four finger clicking for the trackpad? I was trying to tinker with settings on my new 13" MBP and was surprised that there was nothing. I'd love to be able to activate spaces with a trackpad click rather than a keyboard combination or a hot corner.

I have the aluminum MacBook 13", I am having problems with the touchpad.. Sometimes when I click it'll stay in like right-click. Does that make sense? Like I am not right-clicking but the function is staying. And the cursor acts like it's being right-clicked, when it's not..

I just got my first Mac, a unibody MacBook, about two weeks ago, and last night as I was using it, I noticed that the touchpad feels somewhat distorted and uneven. For example, at the moment, it seemed to be indented where I use my index finger the most (towards the center and slightly left of center), and it seems to be raised more toward the right side of the touchpad. When I first took it out of the box, the touchpad seemed to actually be raised more in the bottom left, but since that was out of the way, it didn't really bother me, but now it seems like every time I use the touchpad, the bumpiness of it shifts around to different locations depending on what location on the touchpad I use most.

I've installed XP sp3 on my macbook, works great....except the trackpad. Most common problem with the trackpad (in other threads) is slugish response or whatever, but not here: the device just does not work at all.
These are the symptoms:
- no life in the touchpad device
- device manager shows an exclamation mark on the touchpad and says it wants me to update the driver (after enabling). This does not help a bit,I tried all the decision paths after right clicking it, include downloading some driver from the internet and pointing the operating system to this driver: no avail.
- accessories->system tools->system information: signed drivers does not even report something looking like a track or touchpad.
- updating to bootcamp 2.2 didn't bring anything.
- often threads (mostly about the trackpad being sluggish) endup pointing to the 1.1 update [URL], but something not available cannot be updated...so doesn't work
-under the apple operating system it works great.
Probably nothing to do with this, but my motherboard was replaced a few months ago (under warrenty), can they have forgot to hook something up there? I never tried XP before that repair on this machine.

I'm thinking about buying a 13 inch Macbook Pro because I'm tired of hardware and software issues with PC's.I'm a writer and currently own a Lenovo U300s that has a very large, glass touchpad like the Macbooks. While typing, my palms or thumbs will brush up against the touchpad and cause the cursor to jump around on the page.It makes writing very difficult.Has anyone experienced this with the Pro (or Air) thirteen inch, and how to do you get around it?
Info:
Mac Pro, iOS 5.1.1

when I tap the touchpad to click on something, it makes the sound that I am actually pressing on the touchpad to click.
When I inspect the touchpad, I don't noticed any loose gaps or the glass is moving anywhere from side to side or top to bottom.

When I used my Air today, I noticed that the trackpad button seemed raised. It was like you could lightly push down on it and it would "click", but not actually click. If you pushed harder, then it would actually hit the button and click. Hard to describe, in another way, when you put your finger on the left side of the button, while pushing it down, and slide it to the right, it makes a loud clicking noise. Anyone else had this issue? This is my second Air with the same problem. My first was exchanged due to several problems, and now I get one of the same issues. This is a bit disappointing. Now I really wish I took their offer of exchanging for a Macbook Pro.

On OS X, the touchpad is perfect. I never accidentally tap click and mouse movements are perfectly smooth. On XP, the tap click is so sensitive that it's virtually unusable, and the touchpad has some responsiveness issues. Is anyone else having these problems, and is there a drivers fix? I'm using a 2.66ghz unibody MacBook Pro if that's relevant.

I'm having this problem with my touchpad, which is really hard to explain in words, so I made this quick vid with my iPhone: As you can see, my touchpad "clicks" before I actually click. It makes the sound twice before the computer registers a click. My warranty has expired.
