So I just bought a new MacBook Pro and am having issues with the trackpad. I'm sure it's just me, possibly a setting I can change, but randomly when I'm viewing websites the page will shrink in size. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm touching some part of the trackpad and accidentally doing some gesture that I can't find. It's not the ctrl+two finger zoom, it's just within the window in Safari.
It's brand new as of this morning - the mouse moves but I can't click on anything. I tried resetting the PRAM or whatever that is and I used the tab/space keys to get through the welcome screen. But now, I can't really do anything.
Is there a way to activate three and four finger clicking for the trackpad? I was trying to tinker with settings on my new 13" MBP and was surprised that there was nothing. I'd love to be able to activate spaces with a trackpad click rather than a keyboard combination or a hot corner.
I have the aluminum MacBook 13", I am having problems with the touchpad.. Sometimes when I click it'll stay in like right-click. Does that make sense? Like I am not right-clicking but the function is staying. And the cursor acts like it's being right-clicked, when it's not..
I just got my first Mac, a unibody MacBook, about two weeks ago, and last night as I was using it, I noticed that the touchpad feels somewhat distorted and uneven. For example, at the moment, it seemed to be indented where I use my index finger the most (towards the center and slightly left of center), and it seems to be raised more toward the right side of the touchpad. When I first took it out of the box, the touchpad seemed to actually be raised more in the bottom left, but since that was out of the way, it didn't really bother me, but now it seems like every time I use the touchpad, the bumpiness of it shifts around to different locations depending on what location on the touchpad I use most.
My wife's macbook air (rev. A) just developed this weird problem. She is putting MBA into sleep mode on battery, and the next time when MBA wakes up from sleep mode, the trackpad and keyboard does not work at all. She restarted the MBA and nothing has changed. Luckily the logitech bluetooth mouse and the usb port is still working. We are running OSX leopard dual boot with Vista ultimate 32 bits using bootcamp. But because the "option" key is not working, we don't know how to boot into windows. It is only 8 month old and we have bought the three year apple care. However, she is in China now, I am not sure if the warranty service there is as good.
What do your guys think the problem might be and what should I do about it? She don't have a superdrive with her and if we want to re-install OS, we don't want to lose the windows partition.
I've installed XP sp3 on my macbook, works great....except the trackpad. Most common problem with the trackpad (in other threads) is slugish response or whatever, but not here: the device just does not work at all.
These are the symptoms: - no life in the touchpad device - device manager shows an exclamation mark on the touchpad and says it wants me to update the driver (after enabling). This does not help a bit,I tried all the decision paths after right clicking it, include downloading some driver from the internet and pointing the operating system to this driver: no avail. - accessories->system tools->system information: signed drivers does not even report something looking like a track or touchpad. - updating to bootcamp 2.2 didn't bring anything. - often threads (mostly about the trackpad being sluggish) endup pointing to the 1.1 update [URL], but something not available cannot be updated...so doesn't work -under the apple operating system it works great.
Probably nothing to do with this, but my motherboard was replaced a few months ago (under warrenty), can they have forgot to hook something up there? I never tried XP before that repair on this machine.
i bought a brand new mbp yesterday, and i just realized that the touchpad's surface is not smooth. when i touch there is a tiny sharp barrow. it's very tiny but since it's on the touchpad surface, it's really bothering me. do i have i chance to change the computer?
I'm thinking about buying a 13 inch Macbook Pro because I'm tired of hardware and software issues with PC's.I'm a writer and currently own a Lenovo U300s that has a very large, glass touchpad like the Macbooks. While typing, my palms or thumbs will brush up against the touchpad and cause the cursor to jump around on the page.It makes writing very difficult.Has anyone experienced this with the Pro (or Air) thirteen inch, and how to do you get around it?
When I used my Air today, I noticed that the trackpad button seemed raised. It was like you could lightly push down on it and it would "click", but not actually click. If you pushed harder, then it would actually hit the button and click. Hard to describe, in another way, when you put your finger on the left side of the button, while pushing it down, and slide it to the right, it makes a loud clicking noise. Anyone else had this issue? This is my second Air with the same problem. My first was exchanged due to several problems, and now I get one of the same issues. This is a bit disappointing. Now I really wish I took their offer of exchanging for a Macbook Pro.
I've just started really using my laptop and I've noticed when I look at certain angles I can see a circle of wear showing on the touchpad - normal. My fingers are always clean.
I'm having this problem with my touchpad, which is really hard to explain in words, so I made this quick vid with my iPhone: As you can see, my touchpad "clicks" before I actually click. It makes the sound twice before the computer registers a click. My warranty has expired.
How can I enable right click with Macbook Pro 2007 on Windows XP? Tapping the touchpad with two fingers does not work. I have installed boot camp driver package.
I've been having this weird problem for a while now, and the thing is that, after a while of having my macbook on, i suddenly touch (as i touch and not click) the trackpad and it instantly turns the screen off, leaving no sounds, no response from volume keys/powerbutton(only shuts down if held like 10 secs) nor screen brightness keys. Also, the keyboard lights stay on, and it stays like that until I force shut down with the powerbutton. When I turn it back on it has the "inform apple about bug crash" dialogue.
I have 2011 i5 13"MacAir. Touchpad has lost functions: no select, no drag/drag copy. it can position the cursor with a hard click (not as responsive as before), select a word with double click, do a 3 finger window drag.It recognizes tapping functions only and the 3 finger drag. It does not seem to recognize when a finger stays on the pad- no finger zoom in or out, etc.
i need an external mouse to use the Air- i don't have enough touchpad functions to work otherwise. Is this software or do i need a new touchpad? is it an expensive repair?
Info: MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5), mid 2011,13", 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5
When i use my touchpad, it sometimes acts as if i constantly have it held down and even with 1 finger on it it reacts as if its constantly reacting to me highlighting text. Not sure why this occurs, and i have resorted to using a mouse for some occasions and when this occurs i have to make sure my touchpad isn't highlighting stuff or else my mouse won't work 100%.
MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2009. I got my new MBP 15" one month ago, I noticed a noise coming from underneath the touch-pad. The noise sounds like a loose small piece of metal cracking there. When I hear this noise: - when the laptop is on my legs/bed/couch and I move it a little bit. - when I tab on the aluminum around the touchpad.
I hear the noise more frequently day after day. I noticed that when I shake the laptop (shuted down) with the lid opened I hear the noise way more than with the lid closed. My laptop is new, its case never opened. I thought of the following: - Something wrong with the thing that adjust the touchpad click (if it exists) - There is a free screw moving there (maybe while assembling the laptop they accidentally dropped the screw).
This might be a little hard to explain, but will be easier if you have an MBP to do this exercise. My touchpad/trackpad, is fine, except for that when tapped in the lower left quadrant (where you normally click) it makes a click noise (from the pad itself) tapping anywhere else yields no sound. I pushed hard on the pad, and kinda pressured it in every which way, and every time I do, the clicking stops for about a minute or so.
Just about 45 mins ago, my touchpad started acting oddly after awaking my MacBook Pro from sleep. The cursor wont move when using the touchpad (sometimes it will nudge the cursor) and swiping isn't working either - but right and left clicking still seem to work using the touchpad - and it randomly right-clicks on things. I can use a wireless mouse and the keyboard is fine. It just started doing this, never had problems with it before. I've rebooted, zapped the PRAM, checked the touchpad settings, etc.
I want to tighten the touchpad so it doesn't sound so loud whenever I click on it. But I can't find the correct size allen key for the battery screw. Does anyone here know what is the exact size for the screw for the battery and what type of screw driver to adjust on the touchpad? I know I can use a flat head screw driver, the main part is to get the battery out of the way.
I have been a Mac convert for the last 18 months and am the proud owner of a Macbook 4.1 Dual Core, 2.4GHz using MAC OSX v 10.5.8. For no apparent reason, neither the Keyboard or the Touchpad respond and I end up using a Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard which work perfectly ok. To make matters worse, this issue comes and go's without warning. I can go two months with everything ok, then suddenly it all stops working and then suddenly it's all ok again. It is almost as if there is a way of disabling these functions which I have inadvertently done. I have re-loaded the operating system which has not achieved anything.
Well I finally got an adapter to attach my Macbook to my TV. Although now I need a keyboard so I don't have to get up to type (In my defense It is really a hassle to walk across the room to hit pause). I wanted to get one with a built in mouse so it isn't a hassle.
I was looking at many but only found some that worked with Windows. So I am asking if anyone here has one and do you recommend it? And I want to stay away from the joysticks and lean towards a touchpad or trackball.
broken ibook. after starting it up for the first time the internal harddrive and the touchpad dont work. when i attach an external usb mouse i can boot from cd. is this a logic board failure and i am out of luck or could it just be a loose connection or something else repairable?
