Hardware :: Can The 1690MF-d Be Set Up To Be Served By CUPS Using The Provided Driver
Feb 24, 2009
Can the 1690MF-d be set up to be served by CUPS using the provided driver?BTW, does anyone know if the ADF is also duplex? This multifunction is interesting because of the small size for a duplex laser, otherwise I would prefer a Xerox.
I bought a used Mac Mini (2.0GHz, 4GB Ram-seller bought in July '09) this last week. It has Snow Leopard (10.6.1). It started off with trying to install my HP printer that is shared out on a Windows XP machine. Originally when I turned on the Mini, I could see all the Windows machines (two Vista and one XP) machines on my WIFI network. I used the printer & fax function in system preference to add the printer (I could see it in the list under Windows). I sent over a couple print jobs, Mac shows it is gone, Windows machine shows the job in the printer Queue. Eventually the job simply goes away after 1-2 minutes with nothing coming out.
A little background: Some time ago, back in the 10.3 "era" I think, I installed CUPS on my system. Then along came 10.4.x and broke the version of CUPS I was using (I think that was the story.) So I backed down to CUPS v1.2.12 which I've been using since then. (The details are a little foggy so I apologize for possibly not having release versions definite.) Since then, like anyone else using CUPS I've had to reinstall CUPS every time I apply an Apple system update. Are you aware of any means to remove CUPS v1.2.12 and return to using the Apple-supplied printing components?
I have not set up ssl before so i have a very basic question. I would like to support my Mac Lion server based email with a basic SSL cert that was provided with my domain name.
When setting up the certificate would i set the dNSName to domainname.com or to server.domainname.com
My mail server host name is set to server.domainname.com so i would assume this is the correct one, but emails are addressed to name@domainname.com so
I want to be sure i am setting this correctly before i generate the csr
My service battery warning has come on, and that obviously means a new batter, but i don't want/can't pay for a new battery. Would that be covered under my apple care?
super delay in printing after 10.5.2 update, well, since 10.5.3 apple solved this issue, and now my macbook pro prints perfectly fine over wifi to the airport connected samsung clp-300.the problem is my iMac. The CUPS version is 1.1.? and on my Macbook Pro it says v.1.3.7 after I printed a test page. (this is the latest stable release)
i am running ubuntu server with Cups installed I have my Samsung Ml 1610 printer working, but it wont work on Mac osx. I share the printer through the ip address 192.168.2.4:631
Like the title states. i have a 256 GB Apple SSD and i wanted to run techtools to see if everythign was up to par. i wanted to know f a surface scan will harm or is even necessary?
I am trying to print via LPD on my MBP to a Windows 7 computer. I already enabled LPD Server in the "Enable Windows Features" dialog in Windows 7.I added it by the CUPS admin page (IP I used was lpd://10.0.0.11/ because the computer's IP is 10.0.0.11) and it seemed to add fine. I selected the model (Samsung CLP 620) and tried printing a test page.
So my MBP was really making horrible clicking noise and I figured out that my start up Lion OSX disk partition is corrupted. I have three partitions. One for Lion OS X, another for Documents and another for Movies and Downloads. When I run disk utility and verify other two partitions(documents and movies/downloads), they appear to be okay but when I do the same with Lion OS X then it says:
The volume Lion OS X was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.Error: This disk needs to be repaired....then use Disk Utility to repair this disk. Is my hard drive gonna die soon? Or will it be okay if I just format my 500gb hard drive completely and install the fresh copy of Lion OS X again? I don't have a recovery disc or what so ever provided by Apple anymore. I have a DMG installation file of Lion OS X and a USB flash drive(4 GB approx). How can I repair the disk partition without the recovery start up disc?

I am on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.3, and until some time ago I was being able to print on a HP Laserjet P1102w shared over ethernet from a iMac running OS 10.5.8. Then something happened (probably as a result of an update) and I can't print on that shared printer any more. The error I get on the printer is that annoying /usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed, OR the "authentication required" message. The printer works just fine on the iMac.I tried several fixes posted here and there such as re-setting the printing system and re-adding the printer in both machines, tried to fix it over the CUPS interface,URL]Unfortunately nothing worked. I noticed two weird things: 1) When I try to change the settings in the cups interface at the iMac, it won't let me apply the changes, it's like it is locked... 2) When I pull out the console at the MacBook, the log for the time the error comes out is: kernel: IOSurface buffer allocation size is zeroCan

I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.
We are trying to install/update to the NVIDIA 270.00.00f06 driver for the PNY Quadro FX4800 for Mac on our MacPro 3,1 with OSX 10.7.4. The system tells us "No Driver Update Needed for this System", and will not allow driver to be installed. Can anyone advise if the current driver is automatically installed or provided by Apple Updates. If not can you provide proper instructions on how to properly update the driver. Also how can we confirm what driver version is currently installed.

I saw a lot of post and report GTX285 should be more powerful display right now, but as I know GTX285 need to install driver before it work in 10.5, but after 10.6 had been out, can I install it without driver ? Or it can support clean install snow leopard ?
As the title says, im thinking of getting a blu-ray driver for the mac pro, and i have 2 questions, one for hardware and one for software.
What type of blu-ray drivers does the mac pro 1,1(late 2007) use? Are they the same with the ones PCs use? Any suggestion, value for money? Are they going to have good write speeds for dvds or cds or are they gonna be slow? And software-side, does snow leopard support it? Well actually is there any application that supports blu-ray?? I know im able to burn them with toast so.
Since I've updated my macbook and hackintosh to 10.6.5 I've notice that sometimes when using expose, for example I select iTunes and the other windows get blurry, and they get back to normal if I drag them around. I use expose in an hot corner
I installed a DVD readable, writeable drive into a Mac Blue & White G3 tower with Mac OS 10.3.9. What DVD R/W software/driver could I use for the tower?
I have a HP LaserJet 1020, I would like to use it with my Macbook Pro, however, HP doesn't make a driver for the Mac. Anyone know of a good place to get a driver for this printer?
i was wondering if someone can clarify what this driver update means. Its been stated in many websites that it will have windows support. Does that mean i can just plug this monitor into my windows machine and everything will work. Like supported in Mac OS X?
Or does this really mean, running bootcamp is the only way.after that driver update was release I got my hope up high in regards to me buying this display.
I have this "unknown" audio driver installed on my mac called "Aggregate-Audio-Device"... not sure what that is... and where it came from... anyone know what that is, and how I can uninstall it?
I have a Macbook Pro 10.5, and the computer that is connected to the printer is a Dell with XP on it. My goal is to make it so I can print document from my Mac with out hooking it up to the macbook itself.
I was successful with another printer hooked up to the same Dell Computer but I can't find the driver for my HP PSC 1315 All in One Printer... I tried downloading them from HPs website and if I got lucky and it did download I tried installing it and it said it was complete but It seem it did nothing.
I have an issue related with KisMac. I own a PPC IBook G4 with MAc os x 10.4.10 or 11. For sometime I used it to sniff packets, it worked fine. Time passed and i need to use it again, but when I try to start scan I get the error "Could not instantiate driver". Every solutions I saw were related with airport extreme, but I own a airport.
My brother jammed his CD in his MacBook. I've tried to eject through the eject button, through finder, and by dragging the cd icon from the desktop to the rubbish bin to eject.Would he need to get someone to fix it or manually taking it out or something.
I have an old macbook (2 years ago). After I installed windows 7, there is no sound in the window system. Did anyone know what I can do to solve this problems?
a magnetic exchangeable head screw driver long enough to reach the torx screws that hold the CPU heatsink onto the logicboard? According to this guy, the shaft needs to be at least 20 centimeters, or about 8 inches. I'm not having much luck. Help me out?edit: THIS interchangeable head screwdriver looks like it will work, and it has a magnet in it, so that is a good thing. I'm just not thrilled with the $17 shipping.
