super delay in printing after 10.5.2 update, well, since 10.5.3 apple solved this issue, and now my macbook pro prints perfectly fine over wifi to the airport connected samsung clp-300.the problem is my iMac. The CUPS version is 1.1.? and on my Macbook Pro it says v.1.3.7 after I printed a test page. (this is the latest stable release)

How can I get my new letter-heading template do that in Pages? When I select date and time from the Insert menu it's fine, but the next day it still shows yesterday's date.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a tiger server to serve software updates to the clients, but the server doesn't seem to want to serve the updates. The client can connect to the server, but then shows the user a message saying the computer is up to date. I know that is not true, and I have all the updates mirrored, so why is it not working?
If nobody has any idea, is there somewhere that says exactly what the software update client goes through to check if there are updates available, so I can follow it manually?
I bought a used Mac Mini (2.0GHz, 4GB Ram-seller bought in July '09) this last week. It has Snow Leopard (10.6.1). It started off with trying to install my HP printer that is shared out on a Windows XP machine. Originally when I turned on the Mini, I could see all the Windows machines (two Vista and one XP) machines on my WIFI network. I used the printer & fax function in system preference to add the printer (I could see it in the list under Windows). I sent over a couple print jobs, Mac shows it is gone, Windows machine shows the job in the printer Queue. Eventually the job simply goes away after 1-2 minutes with nothing coming out.

Then along came 10.4.x and broke the version of CUPS I was using (I think that was the story.) So I backed down to CUPS v1.2.12 which I've been using since then. (The details are a little foggy so I apologize for possibly not having release versions definite.) Since then, like anyone else using CUPS I've had to reinstall CUPS every time I apply an Apple system update. Are you aware of any means to remove CUPS v1.2.12 and return to using the Apple-supplied printing components?

I already enabled LPD Server in the "Enable Windows Features" dialog in Windows 7.I added it by the CUPS admin page (IP I used was lpd://10.0.0.11/ because the computer's IP is 10.0.0.11) and it seemed to add fine. I selected the model (Samsung CLP 620) and tried printing a test page.

Then something happened (probably as a result of an update) and I can't print on that shared printer any more. The error I get on the printer is that annoying /usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed, OR the "authentication required" message. The printer works just fine on the iMac.I tried several fixes posted here and there such as re-setting the printing system and re-adding the printer in both machines, tried to fix it over the CUPS interface,URL]Unfortunately nothing worked. I have a folder where I place an ever growing collection of my favorite songs. Before I switched to Mac, on Windows, when I wanted to revisit songs I most recently added to the folder, I would sort the songs by the Date Modified and it would order the files I placed in the folder by date.
In OSX, however, there must be a slightly different meaning to "Date Modified," as it does not quite sort my songs by the order they were added. It gets some of it right, but there's plenty of files that are out of order--tune "x", which I know was placed in the folder a week ago is actually listed further down the list with songs placed in the folder months ago.
Is there a way to have OSX sort files in order of the date it was placed in a folder? Neither "Date Modified" nor "Date Created" works 100% as I thought it would. Or is the OSX definition of Date Modified/Created slightly different than Windows?
I've noticed recently that when in Finder, all folders/files have a Modified Date of somewhere in January 2009 or January 2008, regardless of when it was actually modified/created. My clock at the top left-hand corner says Oct 20 though. Any thoughts?

I am on Tiger 10.4.11 on Mac Book Pro Intel duo. All updates except for Parallels installed. Have run permissions repairs and preferential treatment. Tried to delete preferences for system ... Every time I try to uncheck the box marked or open the Date and Time preferences, it freezes and have to force quit.
So I shut down my computer earlier today for the first time in weeks. I restarted it and then left for a few hours for dinner.
I come home and I look at the last time MobileMe Sync and Time Machine did their things. They say they did them at 7:45. I look at the clock on my cable box and on my iPhone, both say 6:45.
Weird that the MacBook's time is wrong. I go into Time Date settings. I see that when the MacBook does the "Auto locate where you are so that we can set the appropriate time zone, etc. the MacBook things I'm in Rexford, Idaho.

I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a G4 iBook. Somehow my Time & Date files got corrupted which prevented me from getting on to the internet. When I discovered the problem, I threw them away, thinking a restart would create them again. I was wrong.
Now my computer doesn't know what time or year it is, causing various problems. I don't have back-up 10.5 disks to extract the time & date package.Can I download a replacement anywhere?
Or can someone email the files to me? I don't know what they're called but, if you search time and date, there are only two (and please tell me what folders they're in too)
Starting yesterday, I cannot load Time & Date (either from System Prefs or from the menu bar). I get the beachball and I have to Force Quit System Prefs.
I tried Repairing Permissions and rebooting but it didn't help.I tried deleting .plist entries (as per a related thread on the Internet) and rebooting and that didn't work either.I tried logging off and logging in with another account and the problem is still there.I hope I can get some help because it's driving me nuts. I travel a lot and need to change my time zone. If you need a crash report from me, please tell me how to get it from Console bc I don't know where to look for it!

Is there a way to put the date in the top right corner of the bar? It has the day of the week and the time but it is missing the numeric date. I can't believe that Apple left that out.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a hard-to-explain problem. It seems that the date 05/01/2008 is everywhere. I bought my IMac in June of 2008 and I don't recall having this problem before. I'm a British user, so my iMac should be set at DD/MM/YYYY. I don't know whether this refers to a day in January or May. I wouldn't know where to search on the internet to see if a certain application or malware causes this glitch, but I thought someone on the forums might know.

Told you it was trivial and no amount of "Custom" changes in the setup changes the from no year to a year...Can someone tell me how to overcome ?
I'm considering getting my wife the new MBA for Christmas this year. I'm going to get her the 13", but I was considering going with the 128GB version to save some money.
My question is would I be able to upgrade the drive to a larger size down the road? I know Apple overcharges for stuff like this and I'm comfortable doing these types of upgrades myself if it is possible.
Whenever I'm searching for a file and I use 'last opened date' as one of the options, it presents files that I know I didn't open within that timeframe (and I'm the only user here) as well as not including files I know I opened.
Any ideas? I don't know if something indexing my files is causing this, I do use Launchbar, but I can't imagine that's it?
Okay, so I am running OSX and Vista on Bootcamp. I have noticed that when I use Windows or just even restart OSX that my date and time changes. Today it changed to March 1, 2000. I am curious as to why this happens. My time zone is fine. I think it has something to do with the Vista configuration.

If I check the "Set date & time automatically", the digital and analog clock is showing different times. See picture. Also, when I go in Time Zone, I set Eastern time, it will set it, but when I go back to preference, it sets back to GMT.
It's running 10.5.6.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a folder of files which I add to on a weekly basis, by dragging the file in there, and it just goes to the bottom. So when I open the folder, all the most recent stuff is at the the bottom of the folder. Now I've got a problem since I updated to Snow Leopard. When I opened that folder, everything was arranged alphabetically, and arrange by date makes the newest go to the top.
Is there any way I can adjust this so that it reverses, like when you do a search for something and you arrange by order, ascending or descending?

2. I currently own a 2009 Macbook pro 17 which is great but im going from a home based job to one which means a lot travelling - car, plane, public transport. Thus im selling this to get a more compact and travel friendly mac. I mostly use it for internet, mailing, file viewing, some online games, itunes and a few programs like Power Point and Photo shop. I cant decide whether to get a new air or a new 13 inch screen pro. A cd/dvd drive isnt important at all really. Any ideas or advice.
After having my great 17" for 6 years is time to start looking for a new one. Would anybody please tell me what is the usual date Apple upgrades them? I don't want to rush and buy a new one if a newer model is around the corner. My current two MBP's are still working well. what the difference would be in configuration between a 2.2 and 2.4 GHz? Is it worth it paying extra? I do normal use of my laptop. Do the new MBPs get as hot as the old models? I meassured the temperature on mine and it reached 114 degrees.
