I am needing an AIO color laser that prints, copies, scans and faxes for my Tiger and soon to be Snow Leopard MacBook. Price is not an object (for the most part). I've been looking but have found anything that has a fax.
View 1 RepliesI have an Epson AcuLaser C2600 which I got some years ago and which has run fine on 10.3, 10.4 and until recently on 10.6. It has suddenly started printing second and later copies of a single page document about 3cm lower on the page than it should. It does the same on pages after the first page in multi-page documents. This does not always happen but does for much or even most of the time. This happens in various applications. Sometimes the printer shows a 'Check paper size' warning but does not stop.
Discussions with Epson have led to checking Print and Fax preferences, Page Set Up, Extended Printer Settings (all of which I'd done) and making some changes to the printer control panel connected to Paper Size and Auto Continue. The problem remains and discussions continue. It is worth commenting that something like this seems to have been an Epson issue for some time but the suggested solutions have not worked for me.
I have stuck on 10.6.7 because there seemed to be a number of printer issues with 10.6.8 and as everything was fine (and I like a quiet life). I have made no OS updates so it is hard to understand why this has suddenly started (unless it is a hardware issue). I recently installed Pages 4.1, the only other changes have been things like updating browsers (and adding a couple of extensions) and other applications.

I'm working with an iMac, Photoshop Elements 8 and an Epson R2880. I've calibrated the iMac for Adobe RGB; I've set PSE * for Adobe RGB; and I have downloaded the profiles for the R2880 and set it for Adobe RGB. However, my prints look noting like what I see on the screen.

Why on earth would this be...could it be something simple as the black ink cartridge straight out of the box has ink problems? I've re-seated the black just to make sure, but seriously prints nothing in black...only color!
I am looking to get a color laser printer within the next three months or so, I am getting sick walking to the one of the computer labs at my college. The HP one that I was looking at (1200-something) isn't compatible, or so people claimed in the Amazon reviews. I don't need anything super fancy, just something good enough for term papers and good color documents.

I'm looking for something with modestly priced toner, a relatively small footprint, doesn't require a lot of power, prints double-sided, and that plays nice with mac. Looks like samsung, hp, and brother offer some nice choices, just not sure where to start.

Quite honestly we don't do a lot of color printing, but I'm so tired of clogged inkjets (can you say Epson) that I'm trying to stay clear of them. A multifunction inkjet would seem appropriate for our situation, but I don't want to have clean printheads once a month. Even if we do get a mutlfunctional laser I still need a a small photoprinter for quick photos prints. My other option is a multifunctional inkjet and then a B&W laser printer. I'm down to Canon and Brother based on the fact both seem to work well with Macs and don't have the bloated software that comes with HP. I can't find any reviews on the Canon lasers since they are relatively new. The Brother machines seem to get good reviews, but quite a few complain about the color prints.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've narrowed my Color Laser Printer (multi-function) search to the Brother 9840CDW ($624), Ricoh SP C232SF ($650), Konica Minolta 4690MF($640)/4695MF($1050), and Samsung CLX-6200FX($510). Prices are ephemeral. I'm tempted to take another look at Dell in case I mistakenly dropped them from consideration mistakenly. Konica Minolta seems to support PostScript. Brother seems to offer emulation via Ghostscript. Ricoh and Samsung employ emulation via PCL. I'm interested in buying the new Adobe Creative Suite in 2010/11, when its GCD/OpenCL enabled (fingers crossed). Should I be concerned about this Postscript emulation? What do folks with the current Creative Suite (Windows too) and Color Laser Printers observe today? Does emulation make a big difference on printer output and performance?

before switching to Mac, I used an "X-Rite Eye One Display 2" color meter device with software. You can find them most places like Amazon for about $150. The device should still work, but I can't find any software for it for the Mac. After going to the X-Rite web site, I could find no software at all for the Mac as it is only windows based.
Surely someone out there has used a color meter such as this one as they are quite popular especially for graphics artists that use professional graphic monitors. I am hoping someone can tell me how to use my color meter (USB), what software for Mac Leopard I need and how to save the color profile in the Mac OS.
Here is what I would like to do: I have several folders that house my media. IE one for music, one for movies, and one for itunes downloads. I have a sudo media server running iTunes (Windows xp box). Is there anything out there that will scan the hard drives looks for new files that have been added and then update my itunes? IE instead of manually having to go to file>>add to library, it will do this for me when it runs? Basically a script or program that scans my files looking for new files that have been added and then adds them to my itunes library. I know I am asking for a lot but I was just wondering if anybody has done anything like this or has found something that does do this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I tell Image Capture to save a scan in a particular folder, it doesn't show up there in the Finder. This is a fairly new trick. Sometimes after considerable fiddling, they will suddenly be there.
If I go into Photoshop or Word and search for the files, both Photoshop and Microsoft Word can see the files in the correct folder. The Finder just can't see them.Â
I'm a dude that can't speak and needs a way to talk to people that only have a fax or phone number. I originally didn't even know Mac osx could do that. Do I just unhook my land line and plug it into my laptop and go to the printer/fax option? Would that work or do I need a designated fax number? I'm running OSX 10.4.11.

For some reason I'm not aware of, I cannot send faxes from my computer. I've checked the settings in system prefs and they all look OK. The modem sounds when connecting to send, then the fax is stopped; no alert, nor an explanation telling me something is wrong.Each time I want to fax a document I get the same result: no fax goes out; the fax list shows the job was stopped and put on hold till a later time. After resuming, the fax still does not go through.The settings in Print and Fax are supposedly correct: all jobs are to be sent using internal modem (driver version 1.0; PPD file version 1.0).
The document I need to fax shows in the print dialog window that it will use the internal modem, it will not wait for dialing tone (not alwayws, see below), will use tone dialing, with the sound on.After starting the job, sound comes on and I can hear the modem dialing, the fax status in the menu bar shows "connecting" for some time, then there is no more sound, and the job stops.I've tried faxing to a different number, and the same thing happens.There is something I've noticed that may have a lot to do with the problem:When the modem starts, "the modem could not detect a dial tone" shows up, although I've unchecked "Wait for dial tone before dialing."Fax and internal modem icons show an exclamation point.The Fax List window shows the internal modem stopped.The Internal Modem window show no active jobs; the document I've tried unsuccessfully to fax shows in completed jobs.
If I try to resume faxing while in the Internal Modem window, the Stop Jobs icon is highlighted with a red exclamation point. I?ve tried resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.4.11I tried reinstalling OS 10.4.11 combo update as a last resort in order to see whether it would correct the problem.Tried sending another fax to my office but it didn't go through.Again, it shows as a stopped job in the "internal modem" window saying it could not detect a dial tone.This "dial tone detection" alert also shows when:1 - sending a fax from an application such as TexEdit, in the pull down modem window and it does not matter whether I deselect it; it just keeps on showing again. The modem shown on this window is "Internal Modem" and there is an exclamation mark next to the name;2 - looked at modem settings probably in system prefs (I forget exactly where) and deselected it but it keeps showing when setting up the document to fax.I know the modem shouldn't be "paused." It should be "idle" but:? Clicking on "set up fax modem" in system prefs brings the fax list up where Internal modem shows "stopped", not "idle." This window shows "Delete", "Show info", and "Start Jobs" after having deleted the fax which I was not able to send.? The fax list of Internal modem shows all faxes I've tried to send as "cancelled" and this list is not editable.

Solution to making Mavericks email the received faxes?
I am using a USB Modem. I can receive faxes. They go into the Faxes folder I designated. I have the box checked to forward the received faxes to an email address (as I did in Mountain Lion), but the faxes do not get forwarded.
I recently changed ISPs and installed a new modem. I used to be able to print to a windows computer connected to a canon printer (using gutenprint driver). Now, I can't connect to any shared folders and am unable to print to the shared computer - Printers and Faxes can't find the network computer.

I have an 09 Mac Pro Nehalem, with nvida gt120 graphics card running 10.6.2 with the latest mac pro 1.4 efi and two 23 inch Apple cinema displays (the older DVI kind)
I go into system preferences>displays>color and try to adjust color on my monitors but selecting different color settings on either monitor only affects ONE monitor, the other monitor is essentially stuck at whatever color setting it is set to.
When starting the iMac in the mornings, the upper strip of the desktop appears in the screen color instead of white. What could this be?
