I have Intego VirusBarrier X6 in several macs. When using it with normal/local/mobile users, I do not have any problem. However, when logging as network user (I have a mac mini with lion server 10.7.4), the macs hang after a while. At the beginning, I tried everything: permissions, firewall, sharepoints, etc on both the client and the server. Only when I uninstalled the software on the client, everything works again normal.Â

I was using Norton Anti-Virus for some time, with no problems. Decided to try the suite of programs under Intego Internet Security. All Hell broke loose. First, SuperDuper could not back up - it spent eight hours on repairing permissions until I stopped it. I then repaired permissions through Disk Utility, and it took twelve hours. Safari started stalling and freezing. Every time I clicked, I got a spinning ball. It didn't matter whether I tried to click on a link, scroll, or anhy other action. It would hang, and eventually load, but it was so bad, I started using Firefox, which had no problems. Intego did not have the answer, except to agree that if Intego was the only change made, it had to be the culprit. I did some research online, and found a posting which mentioned turning off the Real-Time Scanner in order to repair permissions. The minute I disabled it, repairing permissions went quickly, SuperDuper backed up in record time, and Safari went back to normal. Although Intego has stated that all virus software interferes with repairing permissions, I have never had an issue under Norton. With this program installed, it means I have to deactivate the scanner every few nights when SuperDuper is scheduled, and when I want to repair permissions. That wouldn't be the worst thing, if it were not for the fact that Safari bombs every time the scanner is on. Has anyone had any experience with this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a purchase from the App Store in Snow Leopard 10.6.8, but can't make any purchases. When I try to purchase, I get the message, "Additional security information is needed. To use this Apple ID you must first login to the my info web page then provide additional security information." But when I click on Update Security Info, it brings me to a page at [URL] but the page will not load, and it says that Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server. I have also tried it in Firefox and it does not work there either. I went to the Apple Store online, and updated my account info with the proper credit card and information, but it has not helped. What is going on here. This is for my bosses account and not my account, and we need to purchase some software for this machine, but are completely unable.Â

I installed Mac OS X Lion on my Macbook with a Thumb USB Drive I've bought on the Apple Store in Apple Website.Today I was doing some research on App Store and I accidentally stated downloading Mac OS X Lion from the App Store. Though I've canceled the download I was wondering, did I pay for the download? Or since I have already installed that OS X, I was able to start a free download? If it was payed, how can I contact Apple to retrieve the money I've accidentally spend?

I ordered "The Pianist" in HD then when I clicked purchase, two versions of the movie are being downloaded. I wanted to know if it is possible to cancel the Non-HD one since I did not want to purchase that and I do not see the purpose of buying two versions of the same movie. Â

Looking for some feedback here. Currently own an iPad and love it. MBA has always intrigued me. I can pull the trigger on a used (excellent condition) rev B MBA with 128 SSD for $850 or go the new 13" MBA route.

View 19 Replies View RelatedMy current dilemma is rather I should sell my NEC 2490 wuxi-bk monitor or sell it and purchase the new Apple 24 LED?
The main intuition on the cinema 24 led are the built in power mag, usb, and display ports on display but that is not to say that my current setup is anything but lackluster.
I wonder if I could flip this neck 2490 wuxi-bk for a good price because I purchase the monitor 5 months ago for $1099 and with this economy, selling a monitor like this could get tedious.
P.S. I am not a designer or photo editor but just enjoy sitting behind a quality panel that is H-IPS and no less.
In preparation for my move to Mac I am looking at purchasing Toast 10.
Excuse my ignorance but what will purchasing Toast 10 give me over the included iDVD and any other utilities that come with an iMac.My iMac has not arrived,
I knew I should wait to see what Rev C looked like before buying an MBA, but I am disappointed that we didn't get 4GB RAM or a larger SSD. So now I'm strongly considering a new 13" MBP with 256GB SSD (or maybe 500GB SATA if it isn't too sluggish) with 4GB RAM. I know it's a steal, but on the other hand the MBA price cut is pretty tempting. Is anyone else on the fence about which to get? The 13" MBP or MBA? I'm going to college in the fall so portability is a consideration, though either option would be an improvement over my 12" iBook in terms of weight and even thinness.
I have two major concerns with the MBA rev C.:
1) The battery. 3 hours (with the MBA) is probably good enough in most cases, as this is roughly what I get currently with my iBook. However, the MBP has a major advantage with its new battery tech.
2) Hard drive. I know I would not buy a MBA unless it had a SSD in it, but I really don't know if 128GB will be enough for me down the road. It is right now (my HDD space is mostly music and iPhoto libraries...no video editing for me) but I am thinking that videos from iTunes which I may or may not begin purchasing at some point will eat up space. I would be more comfortable purchasing 250+GB of HDD space in my next computer. I remember in 2004 buying my iBook thinking that 30GB would be plenty. Boy, was I wrong!...................
I just jumped on the Mac train and bought a Macbook Pro 13". There's a dead pixel on the screen. I'm taking it back to the retailer tomorrow. The retailer has a zero dead pixel guarantee on monitors so I'm going to hope that covers laptops too. I just wanted to know how many others have experienced dead pixels on purchasing a new Macbook Pro - i.e. what's the likelihood that the next one I get will have a dead pixel?
