I just installed my new airport extreme base station.

I want to set it up for Mac Address filtering. Can this be done? I only see where it can be set to allow certain times only.

I want to set it like my old D-Link router where only the Mac Addresses listed are allowed on the network, even if the network password is correctly entered.

Desktops :: Adding AirPort Card To Older IMac

Dec 23, 2009

My daughter has an older iMac (with Firewire, but probably about six years old, it runs 10.3.9) and is adding a new iMac to her home. The older one will be for her children's use, and she and her husband will use the new one. Now for the problem. The old iMac doesn't have an Airport card; one would have to be added in order for both iMacs to have internet access.

1. Where can they find an airport card for this iMac?
2. Where can I find instructions for adding this card to the iMac?

Mac Pro :: Finding Best Airport Card For Late-2009

However, the part/model number is listed as MB363ZA/A, but i've seen some mentions that the part number is now either MB988ZM/A or maybe even MB988LL/A ? Does anybody know which will work and what is official?

I phoned up an authorised Apple reseller in my city (not a proper Apple store) a few weeks ago and they confirmed the necessary part number was MB363ZA/A, and this is what they would install for about 35 (price including purchase of the card).

I installed it on my G5 single processor which is equipped with an Airport Extreme card. I get my internet from Cox Communications in Tucson via a Scientific Atlanta modem. When I do a diagnostic, it shows everything related to the Airport is green. But, it doesn't work and I have no connection to the internet. What am I doing wrong?

Mac Pro :: Airport Extreme Card - Which Of The 3 Wires To Connect?

Sep 27, 2006

I bought a MacPro two weeks ago and have just taken delivery of the bluetooth module and Airport Extreme card design specifically for the Mac Pro. I've put the bluetooth card in and connected up the cable that has "BT" label on it. I thought it would be same for Airport Card but there's 3 cables to choose from labelled intuitively "1" "2" and "3". All with the same connectors on the end and all taped up together. The Airport Extreme card requires 2xcables to be connected. Anybody out there have a MacPro with Airport pre-installed and can take the side off and have a look at their config for me please? They are supposed to be a service center install hence don't come with a manual, they refer you to the AppleCare Service Source Website.

PowerPC :: Will AirPort Extreme Card Work With G4 (10.2.8)?

Jan 13, 2007

I currently own a G4 PowerBook running OS X 10.2.8 (archaic, I know) which I use as a word processor. I want to set it up to recieve my friend's 802.11 wireless signal (with his permission), which is sent out by a base station tied to a Windows machine. Two questions I have:

First, will an Apple PowerBook and Airport card be able to receive a signal from a Windows machine (I don't see why not, but...)?
Secondly, I seem to only be able to find the AirPort Extreme card on the Apple Store. Will the Extreme card plug and play with my notebook, or not? Are there any good third-party cards that I can buy that will work well if not?

Mac Pro :: Airport Extreme Card & (2007) - Not Work?

Mar 14, 2008

I got a new Mac Pro in December of 2007 that came without an Airport card installed. I'm now looking into getting one to install myself, however I'm a bit confused as to what card to buy. The one available on the Apple website says it is incompatible with Mac Pro's introduced in 2005. So I'm assuming that will not work. I've looked online and have found some like this with model number MB363Z/A.

I THINK this is what I want, however when I enter that model number into google and search a bit I find that some websites have it listed as Airport Extreme Wireless Card for Mac Pro (2008). Now, what I'm wondering is if this will work for my Mac Pro that I got in December of 2007, or not.

Mac Pro :: Airport Extreme Mini PCI - E Card - Cheap Way

Nov 22, 2008

I decided to get an Airport Extreme Mini PCI-E WiFi Card for my 2x3.2 Quad MP and after looking around for a while found several selling online for between $49.00-$89.00 which I thought is a little high for what after some research seams to be a pretty generic part. Unwilling to throw my money out the window I bought this part on eBay for a total of $20.00 including shipping: [URL] The card arrived today 9 days after the initial purchase. The installation took about 5 minutes and the card appears to be working perfectly. I'm unable to test the N protocol as my router does not support it but the Network Utility seams to recognize the card as supporting it.

OS X :: Getting AirPort Extreme Card To Work Via WiFi

Mar 30, 2010

I'm running a PowerBook G4 15" FW800 (running 10.4.11) which has only ever connected to the internet via an Orinoco WiFi card, and I'm trying to upgrade it to a better card whose signals aren't stopped by a couple inches of walls. So I bought an AirPort Extreme card on Ebay and hooked it up, but it's not working right. I'm hoping for some advice. Note that I don't have an AirPort base station; I have a Linksys router, which the Orinoco card was able to communicate with fine. Anyway, I got the AirPort Extreme card (no software CD included), and hooked it up as demonstrated in this video. My laptop already had some AirPort software on it, which refused to acknowledge the existence of the card.

I then I installed the software available here, which seemed to overwrite the previous set of software; I also ran Software Update. No matter what, the laptop refused to acknowledge the existence of the card. Applications->AirPort Utility, AirPort Admin Utility, and AirPort Disk Utility all turn up blanks. AirPort Utility, for example, just says it's "unable to find any Apple wireless devices". The software that was there before I installed the software linked to above gave a different message. if I do get the laptop to recognize the card, will I even be able to connect to the Linksys without an AirPort base station or something?
