May 7, 2012
I have a mac mini 2011 with os x lion installed right out the box I just wanted to know if this is the right way to restore it to factory settings. (click on link below) As if you opened it right out the box.
I have a 2007 imac which i want to restore/erase the hard drive so it's like its out the box. I have the orignial Install DVDs but when i put them in they won't run because i get the powerpc is no longer supported message. I upgraded to lion but no longer have the disk for it..Any Ideas how i can restore?
I want to restore my mac mini (mid 2011) to its factory settings. I've tried following the guidelines using the cmd+r approach. Didn't work. Then I tried the cmd+alt+r way, which didn't work either. I cannot get the Internet Recovery to work either. I'm using a bluetooth keyboard, which I think could be part of the problem (?). Another thing: when I try to erase my disk (via Applications-Utilities-Disk Utilities) I can't do so (my display settings have somehow become messed up; that's the reason in the first place to restore my mac mini. I'm further connected to a wireless network.
I have a late 2009 Mac Mini with 2.26 ghz core and 2 GB memory running Lion 10.7.4. I wish to restore my computer to factory settings but when I put in my Snow Leopard disc I continue to get an error message that reads "You can't use this version of the application Install Mac OS X with this version of Mac OS X. You have Install Mac OS X 23.1.1." I wish to restore my Mac to Snow Leopard and then redownload Lion from the App Store and start fresh with 10.7.4 on my restored Mac but I am finding it incredibly difficult.
I am trying to restore my MacBook Pro to its Factory Settings. All data was erased and tried to reinstall the Lion. When my apple ID and password were entered. The following message came out: "This Apple ID has not yet been used in iTune Store" I was not allowed to reinstall the Lion. Yes I did not buy anything in the iTune Store.how can I reinstall the Lion.
Early 2011 15" MBP with Lion (purchased new July 22, 2012). I had a two year old MBP running Snow Leopard then upgraded to Lion. The computer got flooded. I took out the hard drive and put it in a portable hard drive case and used it to restore my new MBP running Lion. It seemed to go very smooth and very easy. I am not a very knowledgable computer person, I use the computer for Photoshop, iTunes and email and just barely know not to turn it off with the on/off button! I keep noticing that I have two of many things in the computer, like library, multiple systems and multiple hard drives. I also get conflicting amounts of free hard drive space. I feel that I mistakenly copied too much stuff. I have backed up my files onto a fire wire hard drive. I want to "push a button" and have the computer go back to the way it was the day I bought it. This time, I will take the time and move the files and programs manually (there are not that many). I am affraid a typical restore from Time Machine will only bring back the problems I am trying to get away from.
I had to interrupt the migration assistant and it seems that some of my applications and documents are incomplete (files missing/broken) I have heard the best way to solve this problem is to restore the macs factory settings, then start the migration assistant over again. What is the best way to do this?
I just bought my new imac 27" i5, but no restore disk included, How to restore iMac 27" i5 to factory settings with iLife Includes iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.
Im really close, well just about done on selling my powerbook and I want to erase my HD so I can give it to the buyer by "factory settings", especially by erasing all my keychain passwords.
I was wondering if there is anything else I can do to completely erase everything from my Unibody MacBook Pro? I usually do the 7 pass erase and install everything from factory but is there any other procedure I can follow to make sure my computer would be running at its best? I am not sure if it is me or not but my mac used to be faster when I bought it last year even after reinstalling everything from factory.
Running Leopard 10.5.7. Failing attempts to upgrade to SN. Other forums are saying "Use System Restore Disks" I don't have "System Restore Disks" I have 2 disks that came with the computer called "Mac OS X" not called "System Restore". Do I just pop Disk 1 of 2 in the CD/DVD and hold down C whilst rebooting?
I have a PowerBook G4 that is about 3 1/2 years old - my first Mac ever, I got it for college. However, now that it has been so many years I feel like I want to restore it to factory settings, essentially I want to make it like I just opened it up from the box. It still runs fine, maybe a little slow. But mostly I think she's just bogged down from years of classes, music, applications, etc. The problem? Like an idiot, I don't have my start-up disk anymore. I thought maybe I should purchase the upgrade to Leopard for after I wipe it, but I'm not sure how to even do that. Also, $130 is kind of pricey but if I have to purchase a new Tiger start-up disk (if that's even possible) the cost difference might be worth it.
So I guess what I'm asking for is advice about what is the best course to take. Getting a new Tiger disk seems like it might be hard, but I don't know if my PowerBook is new enough to support Leopard. Would it be worth it to find a professional (mind you I live in a small Michigan town that doesn't even have a Best Buy, and the nearest Apple store is in Lansing)? I apologize if I sound so much like a novice that it makes your head explode.
I want to restore my macbook to factory settings. I have both install discs (1 and 2) but when I insert disc 1 nothing happens and the machine spits it back out again.
Info: MacBook (13-inch Late 2007), Mac OS X (10.5.8)
Im trying to restore my MBP to factory settings but when I restart the language setting wont appear, and when i hold option the install disk shows up but i click the install disk and still nothing, it boots normally how can i fix this?
I want to restore to factory settings and start all over with the migration...nothing moved from my old mac to new one the right way and not all of my stuff transfered so i just want to start over.
I want to restore factory settings in a REALLY old iMac - we're talking the blueberry one with the huge protruding butt - but I no longer have the set-up/systems disks
I am looking to restore the factory settings on my imac (late 2009) and also my macbook air. Is somebody able to give me a step by step guide, or point me to a link, that would give me the detailed info ? I want to make sure that all my passwords, details, files, etc are all deleted from the machines and then restored to factory settings?
