Applications :: Using OoVoo With ISight - No Video?
Jan 24, 2009
I'm trying to use ooVoo video conferencing software on my Mac to do three way video chat with a couple of friends that are using Windows. I've got it installed fine, but for some reason it's not recognizing iSight (built in on a Macbook), no matter what I do. It recognizes the built in mic, but no video at all.
I am not a huge fan of reality TV, but recently tuned in to an episode of Gene Simmons Family Values only to she Gene's daughter log on to a computer to view a streaming video from her Apple Notebook to see who was taking items from their kitchen.
I would love to be able to set up my Apple to view what in the world my bird, a large Macaw, is doing throughout the day to get nuts and seed some 10 feet or so from her cage. She is a great bird and doesnt scream or bite, but she is a trip and loves to joke around.
I want to show a picture or a movie over the isight rather than my face.Is there software that will create a "fake" isight where I can show a quicktime video or any image? I know iChat can do this but most people don't use that.I've seen apps for windows that allow this.
I know you can use iSight as a camera to record in iMovie or Photo Booth...but is it possible to record a video chat? So say me and my bro are chatting, can iSight record that chat, so I would be able to see both me in a little box, and my bro in the main portion of the screen? Or would I need more of a screen capture program for that?
So I just got a MacBook Pro a couple months ago, and I am having issues using webcam chat in Yahoo Messenger for Mac. The built in iSight cam doesn't seem to turn on (no green light) when I try to use it, and the person on the other end just sees a black screen for my webcam.
I've been using Yahoo Messenger with Snow Leopard just fine for a while, but now all of a sudden the webcam feature does not work. When I try to invite someone to view my webcam they just see a black screen that says "Starting Webcam Session...", but it never loads. Similarly, when I try to view someone's webcam, the same thing happens on my end. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Like I said, it was working fine until a few days ago.
I've been using Optiscan as a QR Code Reader on my iPhone. I'm looking for essentially the same type of program, except it will be on my MacBook Pro (or any other Mac desktop/notebook) that uses an iSight Camera. There are programs that generate QR Codes, but I am looking for one that does specifically reading. It can do both, or any combination, but the reading must be included. I preliminary Google search brings me close, a lot of possibilities (mostly in Japanese, which i do not read). But ultimately I have found nothing. I was hoping someone could direct me towards program.
Anyone know of a Mac OS X software that will capture streaming video and save in a playable format in Mac OS X? Kind of like Download Helper for Firefox captures FLV, MP4, MP3, etc... and saves it to your hard drive.
I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
It must be some ad blocker or something, but I can't view videos. I can't seem to find what's causing it. I can go to YouTube and watch a video, but when someone posts a link, I am unable to make it play. I'll get a site with a black rectangle where the video is supposed to be. Happens on links from tweets too. Safari and Firefox both. I tried the Flash uninstall/reinstall/disc permission/restart routine twice.
Here's my problem: I'd very much like to download an embedded flash video from this page: http://bit.ly/d24fEU. (One has to click 'start' for the flash to load.)
But web developers have become wily it seems. No longer do the old methods appear to work. I've tried: Apps for downloading youtube videos, using the Activity window in Safari (only a small SWF file of about 21kb appears in the activity window), numerous Firefox plugins To no avail.
There are apparently apps for Windows that can manage to download these tricky types of videos, is there anything or any method on the Mac? I've been ripping my hair out trying. I've searched the forum, but none of the suggested methods work.
I just wanted to know what is the best video app, one that will make video streaming smooth as silk..the only ones i know are : div x,flip4mac and perian, are there more or which one is better from the 3,should i have just one or all 3
This is the first time I've tried using my built-in iSight since the 10.6.5 update, and on any site I've tried it, it doesn't show USB Video Class Video, the correct option, as a selectable option. Nor is DV Video and option. Only Built-In iSight, and two "Google" cams, none of which work. Actually, on Tinychat, Built-In iSight works for the thumbnail for picking the cam option, but won't work once selected. But that's always been the case; the proper option won't show as a thumb but works fine once selected. I hope I'm making sense.
Any solutions? Adobe says I'm running version 10,1,102,64.
Update: It seem either uninstalling Google's video and audio adapters </Library/Application Support/Google/GoogleVoiceandVideoUninstaller.app> or installing a beta version of Flash [URL] solves the issue.
I am trying to disable my Isight on a couple of computers used at our library. Under MacHints I found out that, when a program from OS X (Tiger at least) needs to access the integrated iSight camera, it has to call the QuickTimeUSBVDCDIgitizer.component. This file is located in the /System Library QuickTime folder. How can I find this folder? When I search for it does not come up.
Or did anybody else figure out a way to disable this.
Oh, yeah, taping over it is a good suggestion but clever people just removed.
He has a stock white 2.2GHz MacBook, the 2.2GHz SR, with 1GB RAM. Now, recently, he noticed that the green indicator light next to his iSight camera, is always on, even if he just started up his 'Book. If he tries to open Photo Booth, all he gets is not a picture on the Photo Booth window, but in fact, just plain black inside the window, with no error message. Does anyone know what is going on?
When i open photobooth, all i get is the camera logo with a line going thru it... When i open ichat, it says no camera is attached... There is no green light, in system profiler under USB TREE, the isight is not even recognized....
Im new member here, I really found a lot of things that I missed. Recently I owned MacBookPro 2.4 core 2 due, 2 GB Ram, 250 GB Hard Drive, Nivada 256 MB Video Card, with Windows XP Pro. In parallels. So is there any way to activate my I sight cam to work on XP, I tried on control panel in scanner and cameras, but nothing there. In the OS X working fine, but when I switch it windows no cam has been connected.
