Does anyone know if I can turn of the following behaviour in calculator? Every time enter is hit, the last entry/calculation is repeated. I want to turn this off, so that something is only calculated if I actually do something.
View 3 RepliesI finally go around to upgrading to 10.5 from 10.4. One thing that struck me was that I could no longer copy to the clipboard the result of the computation in the Dashboard's calculator widget. Something I could do under 10.4
I can paste into it. I can copy/paste/cut in the Stickies application. But I can't copy out of the Calculator.I opened up the .html and .js files for the widget and yes there is a handler for the copy event but its not getting invoked.
I just bought an imac. I am trying to add the calculator to my dock. I cant figure out how.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMac version 5.4 with iPhone app. Up to now the desktop version has worked flawlessly but now it will not launch - the password window flashes, then quits immediately. Downloaded the latest DMG and reinstalled, but the problem remains.
Since purchase of my macmini (2011 model) I have been able to wake it from sleep by hitting the (wired) keyboard space bar.However, I recently updated the OS to 10.7.4 using the combo (1.4Gb) update, since when I cannot wake the macmini in that way.
Now, after putting the macmini to sleep, pressing the spacebar causes it to shut down. I then have to switch mains power off and on again at the wall socket, after which the macmini starts up from shutdown condition. I am by no means an expert, and have not been fiddling with settings, so I am in need of advice on what could need resetting to allow me to return to the previous simple 'wake up' approach!

Has anyone noticed substantial calculation errors in EXCEL 2008 - specifically, the XIRR and XNPV function? I ran a cash-flow series and then ran both the XNPV and XIRR function. Then i used an alternative calculation methodology, using the SUMPRODUCT and Goal Seek functions, to calculation the NPV and IRR of the same series of monthly cash flows (note that these alternative calculation methodologies are used to produce the same incremental calculations that are supposed to be rolled up into the XNPV and XIRR functions).
Results: The XNPV is off by 1.26% and XIRR is off 26.77%. I guess that isnt to bad when considering the investment of millions of $. XNPV would only cost me $126,000 on the million. So much for Gold Standard of financial analysis. Whatever happened to Lotus 1-2-3? It might be archaic but at least it generated proper answers.

I have searched this forum and the internet. My number pad on the right side of my keyboard works with everything EXCEPT the calculator. What did I do? cannot find anything anywhere to address just that. The numbers work fine everywhere else.
I did all the jumps to make sure on the system pref and the mouse off, holding my tongue just right and jumping five times...hitting the option key five times, the fn button and the clear button. the number work everywhere but on the calculator.
I need to create and export a slideshow using iPhoto. I figured I'd export it to a movie file (is there any other way?), and I'm going to play it on a large TV by putting the movie on a USB flash drive, putting the USB drive into a PS3, and playing the movie through that.
I need the movie to be playing on repeat throughout the day. I know when I'm playing a movie in Quicktime I can have it loop, but how do I get this to work when playing it through a PS3? Is there anyway to tell a quicktime file, no matter how it's being played, to loop?
I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!

Well I do not actually have a password set so usually I just hit enter with it blank but when I do that in Terminal it says sorry wrong password or something until I hit the 3rd try and it boots me.

I don't really know why this happened but recently my default Calculator starts very slowly. Heck Firefox starts faster. What is causing this? Must I reinstall that particular app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel based iMac 20". I had a different problem. I installed Windows XP using bootcamp. After installation. To give it a try I just put Vista DVD (I have vista DVD also, but it is damaged.) into drive. After loading boot files vista installation asked me to reboot the machine. Here I got the problem, as the dvd is damaged, it is unable to proceed further, I am able to see only a blinking cursor for ever. I wanted to eject the DVD and boot either from Mac OSX or WindowsXP (Which is previously installed and working fine). I have wireless keyboard and mouse and I am unable to enter boot options anyway.

Anyone else noticed that file size calculation in Lion is inaccurate? I noticed when trying to burn cds or dvds with Toast, Toast would calculate the exact size, but Lion would give different results, either larger or smaller, but never accurate.I know for a fact Toast is right and Lion is wrong because I tested the same files in PCs, and in Leopard, and Lion's results are off the mark.Incidentally, I've been using Lion for a month now, and I have to say that in my 18 years as a Mac user I had never encountered so many annoying bugs when switching to a new OS. And don't get me started on the no-color sidebar!

Hi guys, I have a 2.26ghz Macbook and when i start it up the chime keeps repeating over and over again until i get sick of it and hold the power button to force shut it down, sometimes it will start up fine after that and boot right up and sometimes it keeps repeating again, then i just leave it for a few hours and try again and it will usually work. Also over the last day or so i've been getting a mixture of the repeating chime and the blank white screen with no apple logo and grey spiral. Other than this problem the computer is running flawlessly, does this sound like a hardware or software problem?
I've already tried reseting the PRAM and SMC, I've ran the hardware test which came up clean, checked the drive with disk utility and eventually reformatted the HDD and reinstalled Mac OSX but still no change. I'm not running any extraordinary software just google chrome, Skype etc. so that shouldn't have any thing to do with it.
I have an iMac Intel Dual Core 2GHz/20"/667MHz, and it will not properly startup. Blue screen problems.It looks normal at first (gray splash screen, then blue, then Apple info/nameplate box with progress bar), but when the desktop is about to finally appear, it blanks back to a blue screen for a few seconds, then back to the desktop trying to mount-- repeats over and over.It appears to make some progress each time (top menu bar items start to show up after the first few blue blank-outs, font management app is launched, etc.) but it repeatedly goes back to the blue screen and never finishes.

I am unable to "Enter Time Machine" to view previous backups! Time Machine continues to make backups, and I can access other preferences and options but clicking on the Time machine icon in the dock or in the applications folders does nothing!! How do I remedy this - I have repaired permissions but am wondering do I need to reinstall Time Machine? If so how do I reinstall Time machine?

But why is it that when I'm on Facebook on either Opera or Safari? My temp hits 80c. I've called up the Mac Store here in Ireland. They asked me to use iStat Pro to find out my temperatures. So I have, and all my temperatures are fine (around 30-50c) but my CPU temperature is hitting 80c.Honestly, this is quite scary to see that a computer I've bought hits 80c when I browse the internet?

In Microsoft Outlook 2011, hitting "Enter" (the tall, vertical, right-most bottom corner button on my numeric keypad) sometimes (but not always) causes an email to be sent, when I wasn't done typing and simply wanted to do a Return. I want to make sure this never happens again, but I'd like the option of hitting the Enter key to go to the next line - can I somehow redefine the Enter key at the OS level so that pressing it always sends a "Return" code to any software (such as Outlook)?
