Apr 19, 2012I've burnt a CD full of pictures with jpg format but after opening it in iphoto 09 (version 8.1.2) I recieve this error " The following file could not be imported, the file is in an unrecognized format". Is there any way to recover these files? I don't have any access to the original file which was written from.

Oct 25, 2008I've run Daemon Tools on Windows before and it mounts an .iso file so that Windows thinks it's a real cd drive with a cd inserted, but I can't find anything like it on the Mac. I can open and eject .dmg files as if they were discs, but I would like Mac OS X to actually think that it's a real cd drive with a cd in it. Anyone know of programs for the Mac which are similar to Daemon Tools?

Dec 2, 2010I bought Office 2011 for mac from a reputable academic download company. I downloaded the file today and tried to launch the disk image, but when I do I just get a message that it couldn't be launched because it is 'unrecognised'. Why? I did a Yahoo search but couldn't find an answer. Would some bright spark amongst you please come to my aid?

1. Burn or mount the Application ISO using one of the many ISO utilities. ( I personally use PowerISO to mount, but daemon tools should work fine too.)

If you're wondering how to mount an ISO image in Mac OS X, it is very easy. In the Terminal type the following command: hdiutil mount sample.iso with sample.iso being the path to the image you want to mount. After the checksum is completet, your ISO will appear mounted on your Mac OS X desktop - that's it. You you can actually mount virtually any other disk image type with hdiutil as well, so give .dmg .img a try too.

Jun 18, 2012I recently sold my MacBook Pro, but before doing so I made a compressed image of the hard drive via Disk Utility so I would have access to the files once the laptop was gone. The file was roughly 460GB compressed. The file has been stored on my Drobo.Now I'm trying to mount the image so I can move things over to my new computer but I'm having trouble getting the image to mount, convert or anything. Typically I get a message to the effect of "no mountable filesystem found".

Aug 28, 2014I have a 2.13GHz 13" white Macbook (Mid-2009) with a 480MB SSD, 4GB RAM and a dying SuperDrive that frankly doesn't get used very often.
I would like to yank the SuperDrive out (I use my iMac for any physical disk work anyway), install a smaller SSD (64GB) for the OS (+ obligatory recovery) in the primary position, and place the current SSD (or a HDD) in a SuperDrive enclosure to hold all personal files (documents, videos, music, etc...)
Here is the scenario I'm contemplating.
-64GB SSD: primary position, holds OSX + recovery
-480GB SDD: mounted on /Users/[my user name]
As far OSX is concerned, there's only one 544GB filesystem, spread over two disks.
As an experienced Linux user, I would expect to have to modify /etc/fstab to do the trick. Mac OS X 10.9 actually has a /etc/fstab.hd that tells you that the file is useless. I am wondering whether it is possible to "mount" in the Unix sense partitions in the file system so that the system only appears to have one drive and also how.

OS X :: Unrecognized Username And Password After Install & Archive?
Mar 20, 2009I have a G4 Powerbook that I bought 2005. After it slowed down, I decided to perform a complete install. I backed up all my data on an external harddrive , reinstalled and it worked fine for a week. (My data is not on the external hard drive anymore because I transferred it to the laptop as I had to empty it for another back up project). So in brief, my data is not backed up anymore.
My notebook suddenly crashed, I restarted it but it wouldnt turn on. I then performed archive and install, restarted it, it asked me for my username and password, I entered them, but it didnt take it.
I then changed my password again from utilities, but it still wouldnt take it. I called apple support and they were clueless. The discs I used to perform the installation are the same ones I got with my laptop when I bought it. When I try to change the password in utilities, it would not give me an option to chose username, but only to change the password.
What can I do at this point?

Incredibly though, I can log into my iPhone, the iCloud's website and iTunes as well, using the same apple ID. I would like to keep my Mac, iPhone and iPad in sync with the iCloud system.

IMac :: Catastrophic Hard Drive Failure - Unrecognized By System?
Nov 15, 2009It looks like the hard disk in my 1.5 year old iMac (24" 3.06 C2D, running 10.6) suddenly failed today. I woke the mac up from sleep and pretty much immediately I got a spinning beach ball. The system was totally unresponsive so I did a hard reset. Unfortunately the blinking "?" folder came up on the gray screen, instead of the familiar Apple logo. Booted off the OS X disk and ran Disk Utility. The hard disk comes up as "media" and unrecognized by the system. So no First aid or formatting possible. I'm guessing the hard disk has given up but before purchasing a new one I want to rule out anything more serious like motherboard issues.

Oct 18, 2010Today I tried opening my keynotes presentation file to make amendments to it and when I double clicked on it, the program loading bar only loaded up a third of the way and then hanged. I then tried to save it to a flash drive and use it on a different computer, but when I tried to copy it over to the flash drive it gave me this error: "the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "garment styles" could not be read or written error code - 36".
I have tried changing the file extension to a zip, then unzipping it and then renaming it but that did not work.(It wouldn't let me unzip it). I have also looked at the index file name to see if that was the problem, but that is as it should be.
I have also tried uploading it to a website and emailing it and it will not let me.
Is there anyway I can recover this file as I have been working on it for over a month and it is due next week, or will I need to start again?
Hardware :: Airport Express + WD HDD - Unrecognized Airport Disk
Jan 11, 2009MBP 2.2; OSX 10.4.11; Airport Express 802.11n (version 7.3.2); WD MyBook 320GB (format Mac OS Extended) I'm trying to get the WD HDD setup as a wireless hard drive, but it's not showing up at all in Airport Utility (I don't even have a 'disk' tab in the 'manual setup' menu). Airport Disk Utility just says "no airport disks found." Of course the HDD works fine when plugged in directly to the MBP. I've searched apple support and these forums, but haven't found anything that works yet. All help I have found says use the 'disk tab' in AE manual setup window. What do I do without a 'disk' tab? (or how do I get one?) is this a firmware/software issue with the AE?

It shows that the size of the file is 96 kb and I can see it with the "quick look" option when you left click. This is using CS3 by the way.
