View 1 RepliesI'm in need of an application that creates a single .jpg with multiple thumbnails within, giving you a preview of a video.
I have found a couple of apps that do this, such as Screen Grabber and QiPo. How ever, none of these are suitable;
Screen Grabber under 10.6 doesn't work with WMV files. The output image file is full of black frames.
QiPo is the best out of all of them, how ever it doesn't allow you to select how many thumbnails to have in the one preview image file (it's pre set to 18).
I have emailed the developer of Screen Grabber regarding a OS X 10.6 fix, but am yet to hear back from him, so in the mean time i am still trying to find a Mac app that can serve my needs.
I have a bunch of almost similar .mkv files. On some of them, I see the MPlayer OSX logo which I use for playback. But on most of them a preview from the video is shown as the icon... Why is that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince i updated to maverick last week i got an issue with the Mac Preview app, it opens the documents ok, but when opening several files at the time, the thumbnails are all scrambled and not showing the miniature of the selected file.
if i click on the thmbnails area and navigate with the keyboard's arrows it allows me to go through the open files, all files open ok but the thumbnails is the only part that is having this issue.
I have deleted the com.apple.Preview from ~LibraryContainers but still having the issue.
I'm running 10.6.2 on my Rev A 13" MBP and have noticed an oddity in Finder over the last couple of months (I'm not sure when it started). If I have Finder open in Column View, I used to be able to choose a jpg and it would show a small preview in the final column of Finder.
Now, it shows the word Preview with the triangle to open and close the preview, along with the file information, but no actual preview. It's the same in Get Info on the file in question. I've tried switching Icon Preview on and off in View Options, I've tried moving the Finder plist file to the desktop and restarting the machine.
Instead of readding every single thumbnail, how do I get it to fetch all the thumbnails for the ones I already have? I'm running 3.0.0 build 30047.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP/Vista, if you are navigating in a folder containing pictures, and you click any picture, it opens up Windows built in preview program. Much like OSX. However, in Windows, you can click "Next/Previous" within that program to quickly flip through those photos. Why do the up & down arrows in OSX not work? I still prefer my iMac to any PC I have owned, but this one little thing bugs me to no end. Is there a setting I can change somewhere to make that work like in Windows?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Aperture 2.1 and love it until....
A large collection of pictures (jpgs) was imported and after 2 days a lot of thumbnails are missing in the library. The images are still there, I can click on the gray spot the image supposed to be and view the preview and master.
It very annoying! I am planning to import about 10.000 images soon and this problem must be solved before.
attached you can find a screenshot of the problem
How do you ungroup page thumbnails in Pages?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSeriously, it's absolutely ridiculous and brings my entire system to a crawl until I restart. Just look at how many page outs I have after iMovie is done making thumbnails of one seven minute clip:
My CPU usage during this process was around 10% so what gives? I have an early 2009 iMac with 4GB's of RAM.
Anyone know if there is an application that can easily browse windows/samba shares? Finder works okay, but I find it annoying that I have to mount everything in order to get to it. One thing I miss in Windows is being able to type / hostname somewhere and getting to the share. Now I have to open finder, open the network dialog box, type in the hostname and wait for it to connect. It'd be great if there was another application that would allow me to quickly browse to all these shares.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just tested mkv file on vlc and they work fine with vlc and quick time player.
But does anyone know how to make snapshot and create thumbnails from the video?
I'm used to Bridge now, it's faster than iPhoto and I can use my own folder structure instead of the ridiculous "events". Places/Faces and the slideshow of iPhoto is great though.
Anyway, when I'm in "thumbnail view" in Bridge, the thumbnails exceed my screen width. So if I'm on the most right thumbnail on my screen, and I go one right, it goes about 3 more pictures to the right (which I can't see) before jumping to the next row (starting at the most left picture of course).
And I don't see any sliders: no horizontal and no vertical. I can scroll vertically though, but not horizontally.
I have iMovie '09 (8.0.2), and my Mac is full updated as well!
So, i have some mp4 files. I import them into an Event and then there are NO THUMBNAILS! GAH!
I did this a million times in iMovie '08! What is going on here?
Since i come from a Windows world, the first thing i tried is rebooting...no luck
I just opened iPhoto and found that when I click on an "Album" (menu to the left), it just opens up with full size images. It used to display thumbnails and I'd need to click on the image to open it into full size. Is there some option that I inadvertently adjusted to cause this change?

View 23 Replies View RelatedI saw a couple of other threads talking about this and thought we should have a thread where you can show off and share your own custom made Genre thumbnails. In case your not sure how to do it this is a good guide: [URL]. Basically you need to create a jpeg, put it in the right folder (iTunes>Contents>Resources) with the correct name and then adjust a tiny bit of information in the genre plist.
Its very simple and people who have no experience with this kind of stuff will be able to do it easily. Also if (like me) you are annoyed at the fact that some genres are missing you can add your own in the exact same way as in he link posted. Note in mine that Action & Adventure are now two separate genres and i've added Gangster, Kung Fu, Comic & Anime. Mine are all supposed to be the best films of that genre (ok maybe not Transformers ). Pic link now added, download!
Whats up. I have a picture which someone has edited to make funny. The edited picture shows up in Preview the application with a text box saying something. But in Finder's preview I see the raw picture. Whats going on there and how do i see the full picture the way Finder's Preview sees it.
Yes it's a picture a lady friend sent me
We're hunting for a small printer for a crowded office space. There's a not much desk space or shelf space.
Only need something to print. No scanning, faxing or other functions! Hoping we can get Canon that is compatible with the inkjet 40 and 41 cartridges as we already have a printer that uses those.
Requirements:
Text documents
Photo printing
When I save a screen shot and email it... it comes out on the other end as a small image (thumbnail?). There has got to be something I'm missing in the setup or preferences... but why aren't my attachments full size?
View 13 Replies View RelatedAs I previously outlined in my previous thread I will be a freshman in college and I am getting a MBP. I will be majoring in Office Administration but I might transfer to Computer Information Systems. Is 13" really that small that it is bad to run multiple applications? I mean, compared to Acer 10" laptops I think 13" shouldnt really be a problem. I'm not thinking about buying a 15" because I think they are overpriced and I will mostly use it to run MS Office apps, social networking, surfing the web & working in Photoshop. Are those extra 2" really such a big issue? I'm already paying almost $1300 including tax, so why waste almost $700 more including tax for 2" extra? That sounds ridiculous, especially if you have to work hard to save that money.
View 24 Replies View RelatedThought I'd start this thread for people to discover/add any info they have on what iPhoto Faces is doing behind the scenes to help with troubleshooting, since Apple doesn't have any preferences for Faces in the iPhoto GUI. This is only for people who like to understand what is happening behind the scenes. Please note this is not for everyone and anytime you do anything to your iPhoto library you risk corruption and should have a backup copy. What I've noticed so far:
- iPhoto scans the library the first time it opens, and creates 2 faces .db files with the iPhoto Library:
face_blob.db
face.db
- iPhoto creates Faces thumbnails files and places them in the iPhoto Library/Data folder along with the other thumbnails it creates................
So I got a bit surprised after I installed iTunes 10 that I can't adjust the artwork in list view bigger! Anyone else noticed this? In iTunes 9 you could just drag the bar besides the artwork and it would increase as much as you liked. Now if you click on Album by artist you can choose artwork small - medium - large, but it's not big enough!

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, I need a new SSD for my late 2008 unibody MacBook Pro cause apparently the G.skill Titan epic fails working with the unibodies *sadness*.
The Titan I have is a 256GB SSD. Like most people, I've been looking at OCZ (which some say is the best and their performance doesn't drop too much which I didn't think was possible until trim) or the Intel one (anandtech's very thorough article recommends it, and so do many).
Unfortunately, the Intel SSD only has 160GB (though much easier on the wallet than the 250GB Vertex).
Add to that, I'm a video and audio editor as well as gamer >_< and here I've heard of people happy with 80GB and less!
If I were to get the Intel, this would be the first time I'd have to split files. For example, Final Cut Studio takes up 50 GB, but I've read that 47 of those GB you can move onto an external hard drive.
How else would I go about splitting and basically cramming Final Cut Studio, Logic Studio, Adobe Production Premium, Windows 7 (by the time I get the SSD, it would have already released), iLife '09, and a whole slew of high space games such as Neverwinter Nights 2 and both expansions, Oblivion, Spore, Fallout 3, CS:S, and DoD:S with an ample amount of room?
Or would I have to switch out games and have them in one at a time?
Or would I just have to pay 75% more and get the 250GB?
many times I receive pictures that won't show up and I only get a small blue box with a question mark inside. Is the problem the format of the pictures or some other error? I know that on a PC I would get a small red box at times when something wouldn't load properly. Do I need some plugin or is the problem elsewhere?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe run a small travel company, and are trying to create a relational database or something that will help with producing an itinerary for quotes/invoices and manage the bookings (i.e.: paid, confirmed etc). I have the design all mapped out on a lovely piece of paper, and I know exactly what needs to happen. However, I can't get this into computer speak! SQL etc., are beyond me, but am pretty nifty on most Office type applications. Initially the plan was MS Access... but this can't be used on a Mac...
Then I tried Open Office Base, but am finding it very different to Access - not sure if the limitations are within Base or within my knowledge (I am trying to learn). Filemaker may be an option, but it looks as if it may get a bit expensive as we would probably need Advanced (Pro 10 looks a bit basic?) - and hence why I used OOBase.
