I am getting my first Mac soon and am a photographer. I am of course getting the Adobe design bundle first in order to have Photoshop and other programs of interest to me.
But after that I will be getting Aperture or Lightroom... I can get Lightroom for $98 because I am enrolled in college. But if Aperture is better to some, I would consider it over LR.
I am by no means a professional photographer, but I do love to take photos. I have about 9,000+ photos in iPhoto now, but Im looking for something a little more advanced. I will retouch my photos from time to time, but more so, I want to organize my photos better. I notice a lot of people use Aperture and Lightroom, and I was wondering if someone had opinions of the two, and which would be the better way to go.

I have over 20,000 photos in Aperture. I have Lightroom 5 and have read through this [URL] ... but am a little freaked out about the paragraph about adjustments not making the transition. And yes, I can keep Aperture on my computer, but eventually it will no longer work with an OS or a chip or something as computers continue to progress.
I have a Lion. My camera is a Nikon D700 I have Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 4 Recently downloaded Lightroom 4.1 connected my memory card reader to upload photos . Lightroom 3 opens and not Lightroom 4 to import the photos. Checked Image capture application to change preferences - there is no preferences in image capture (Lion) My scanner is the only device that is shown.

View 24 Replies View RelatedWhen you download a movie in the iTunes Store in HD, and you create a iPhone version for it it will "bundle" them (example). I've now got a bunch of movies I've downloaded elsewhere in HD, and when I create a iPhone version for them I now got 2 separate files in my iTunes.
Is there any way to bundle them into one?
I have just received my new imac and i am keen to try iphoto 09 i have used windows XP in the past and keep all photos on a external HD and use lightroom 2 if i import them into iphoto will i have 2 copies of all my pics or will iphoto just move them over to the imac's HD and if so will lightroom see them.

I started with over 33gigs left, now i don't even have 32.

I have recently tried to export photos from lightroom 2 to photoshop cs4. When I did this it told me I needed to update my version on photoshop but I cant find the option to update in any of the menus.Would appreciate a point in the right direction.

I love design and have thoroughly enjoyed working with Photoshop and InDesign - but plan on venturing more into web design and teaching myself how to make an awesome website. My school has really good discounts on Adobe software and so I'm torn over whether to purchase Design Premium at $300 or the Master Suite at $500.
I don't know how to use most of the extra tools in the Master Suite - but think that some of them could be good tools to learn. Those familiar with the software. I know this is a good deal. Should I go ahead and buy the whole package even if I'm not sure when I would use the extra features of the Master Suite?
I've been using Filemaker for years, but I've never had a need for anything too complicated - until now. I am in the midst of designing a vote database. I am hoping to find a way to have a choice made from a drop down menu that would define the text fields. I need this to be accurate as possible.

I purchased a game (Broken Sword DC) via Steam and the game runs just fine but the icon in the dock and for the .app bundle has a prohibited sign across it - the same kind you see with a Classic (Mac OS 9) application on Leopard or later. As far as I can see the permissions from the get info are OK the only possible clue is in the terminal doing an ls -al I can can see an @ symbol - which I think has something to do with ACLs?
Any ideas how to get rid of the prohibited sign?
I just got a new macbook pro, and am giving my 13-inch Macbook to my mom. It runs Snow Leopard, and I have the install discs, but I don't have the application bundle discs. So rather than restoring the HD, I need to erase all my files.
What system files and such do I have to erase to give it to her clean?
People that use lightroom, can you look at your CPU usage for all 4/8 cores and tell me what the usage is when your importing/searching/doing whatever and if there is any point in me getting 8 instead of 4 cores (Save myself �300 and get 8gb ram vs 4Gb!)
System will be on 300Gb Velociraptor and data on a 1TB Samsung F1, so lets say IO won't be that bottlenecked.
I have an application called AppFresh, which basically scans the apps I have for available updates, then it's supposed to update the ones that are available. However, every time I try to update an app, I get this response: "Download Successful. Installation failed (Bundle ID's don't match)." What does this mean, and how can I fix it? It'd be a handle little app if I could get it to work right.

However, The space used by my sparsebundle is still occupied, and airport utility still lists 60 gb used when there is nothing but my sparsebundle on the drive. I just repaired permissions, nothing changed.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi use my time capsule to do regular backups of a mac pro and a macbook air using time machine. i would like to delete the sparse bundle for the macbook air and start again, but preserve the sparse bundle for the mac pro. when i try to delete the sparse bundle for the macbook air though i get the error message 'the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items'.
i wonder if anyone could let me know what i need to do to delete the sparse bundle?

I'm creating an AppleScript application bundle that relies on a separate application. I want to add this application to my bundle and then call it via "tell application xyz ... end tell"
So far I have been unable to make AppleScript see this application, except when I gave it the absolute path of where it is located. Obviously, as soon as my application bundle is moved to a different directory this will not work anymore so is not a solution. Tinkering with "path to me" and thus creating the current path to the bundled application also does not work, when saving the script, ScriptEditor tries to find the application and see if the commands I want to tell it exist btu fails and consequently does not save.
I tried putting the application into the Contents, Contents:MacOS, and Contents:Resources folders, all without success.
Is there a way I can access my entire aperture library without opening the actual program? If so, how can I do this.
