View 10 RepliesSo a while back I had final cut pro installed, and eventually deleted cause I no longer needed it. I used AppCleaner when removing to try and make sure I got it all.
Well every time I do a software update it wants to install "Pro Applications Update" and "Prokit Updates" Which are updates for final cut pro and its related apps.
Any idea how I can stop it from wanting me to install these updates for something I no longer have?
I recently went through my Applications folder and uninstalled some applications. Now and then, I'll find a file or a folder or a bunch of files and folders from an uninstalled application. Does anyone know of an application that can delete these files that I no longer need?

Attached is a picture of my iTunes. It says I have 12 apps ready to be updated but then when I click to get them it says there are none available. What does that mean? I definately know that there are updates ready.

It seems that I cannot download Application Updates or even new Applications from the Web using Safari.I have been able to get around this by using Firefox to do it.

finding iLife and iWork updates.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I check for software updates only itunes and random other updates show up but not security updates or safari update. When i check installed updates I realized my last security update was 2011-004 and I still have safari 5.0.6.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using Rosetta Stone without a problem for over a month. Now when i try to start it up it freezes with the screen saying "Installing Updates". In the Console I get this message
"Rosetta Stone[73642] Warning once: This application, or a library it uses, is using
NSQuickDrawView, which has been deprecated. Apps should cease use of QuickDraw and move to Quartz."
I tried to repair permissions but it changed nothing.
When I open my laptop occasionally it has obviously recognized updates and gives me the option to install, I click yes or ok can't remember. When I do it asks me to restart, which I do.When I restart it appears as if it never installed the updates?? When I go to system preferences and check to see installed updates it does not appear to be there?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyway, I just recieved MBA 11' as a xmas gift. i liked its applications (ie garage band, ical, dashboard etc.) but because i have been using Windows (XP,vista and windows 7 at the moment) ever since i had my first pc, i am not really comfortable on navigating my way through this laptop.
question: i know i can change my os, but by doing so, will i lose those applications mentioned? and if i will, can i ever get them back (but with windows still installed)? also, is there any way to marge the two and get the best of both worlds (windows os + MBA applications)?
I have an iMac and a MacBook. My brother is getting a MacBook Pro for University and wants to be able to use the programs (Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc.) on our iMac from time to time. The problem is the school gave him no install discs, they just copied a disc image to his drive.
My question is, can you just copy applications from one computer to another? I know in Windows this was impossible, but on a Mac the applications seem to be more self-contained. I did copy one app successfully (Comic Life) but will doing the same work for all apps?
I am pretty new to the Mac scene and really love my MacBook Pro Unibody.
The only one problem that I have is a fact that there are no decent players to watch HD movies.
VLC player supports mkv's, but it still cannot handle videos using multi-processing. So you can clearly see some stuttering and the mkv's even in 720p play not so well.
QuickTime Player with Perian codecs is also not best and is very slow.
Could you guys tell me how you play huge mkv's (7-10gb)? Which applications do you use? I know my MBP is a very powerful machine... too bad it still cannot handle good HD videos..
Is Adium a good application?... I don't want to have wierd things going around in my computer so I want to know how Adium works for those who have it installed...

The app is free, and allows you to change some settings to osx, like how list/grid view works.
You get a icon in system prefs, bah, thats all i can remember
Was forced to reload my OS. Now I am unable to open several apps whether I am on the OS or safe mode. Example; I can click on contacts and nothing happens. I can open my apple mail but can not view the email nor click on it to open. I can not open terminal. I can not open software update.
Info:
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)
Is there any application that can create an iOS theme on a os x computer? This would let you use the mouse as your finger to swipe through different pages (not like spaces)? I have heard chatter that when (if) MacBooks get touch screens, then Apple may produce an iOS like system for them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded an app called Cyberduck, and put it in my Applications folder, as you normally would. But when I open it, it immediately closes again. What's weird is if I put the file in any other folder (Desktop, Downloads, etc) and open it, it opens fine, stays open, and works great. If I put it back in my Applications folder, problem returns. This has happened with a few versions of Cyberduck, in a few different 10.6.x versions of OS X, and both on my old iMac and new MBP.I've never seen this with any other program. Any ideas?
View 18 Replies View RelatedSome applications simply refuse to install, citing the reason that the application "can't be installed on this computer" and nothing else. The applications that are giving me this error message in particular includes Alfred and Solitaire Greatest Hits. Other applications work just fine, such as Twitter for Mac and TextWrangler. Are Alfred and Solitaire compiled for processors that are newer than my lowly Core Duo, or what?
