I want to take a part of my screen and use it as a webcam input. Is there a way of doing this (on a mac of course.)? I have googled the hell out of this and found nothing. If you're not really sure what I mean, I want to draw people on chatroulette in Photoshop, live. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
View 2 RepliesI have a macbook pro 13 (The new 2010 one). What software would you recommend that would allow me to screen record a portion of my screen that is playing a 720P video. Basically I'm for the best screen record program with:
-High quality capturing (720P)
-Portion of the screen capture(Not the whole desktop)
-High frames per second capture (not jerky, but smooth)
I expect to make some compromises but I'm just looking for the best software that will fit the most of my needs.
I saw this during an screencast, looks like it has the ability to select a screen portion and make it bigger. It may be important to say that the video was from 2006, so maybe the icon changed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook with the internal webcam/microphone, and had been using it for video chat recently. In the last week or so, the people with whom I'm chatting can no longer hear me. The video is fine on both ends, and I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I've gone to System Preferences > Sound > Input. Internal Microphone is selected, and from testing it, it appears to be fine. I've tried both Skype and GMail chat, so I don't think it's a software issue.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhow much would the repair of this damage will cost? geesh i forgot to remove my iphone wire/connector that was resting in the keyboard of my mac, then suddenly i accidentally closed the screen of the laptop. then afterwards, i heard a cracking sound. plain carelessness. what should i do? will the replacement of this damaged glass costly? i do hope MacCenters in Manila can fix this. i'm heading tomorrow to the nearby MacCenter.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had a Mac for awhile now. But, I was opening a cabinet above the computer and small handheld camera fell out and hit the top edge of the computer. The screen has an indentation on the top just over the webcam that is about the size of a dime. I have some photos below. The computer still works, and so does the webcam, but the webcam is all blurry because of the dent over it.

I would like to do something like this for a school project. I want to be able to share my screen and still have others be able to see me. View 3 Replies View RelatedI remember reading several postings in early December about people who had been in contact with Apple and in some cases who had been contacted directly by Apple. Have there been any development and new info/feedback from Apple? I went to the Apple Store in Willow bend yesterday and the new 1.6 Rev B they had unpacked had a really bad screen, actually worse than the 1.8 they have had on display since november! I now completely understand when people complain about eye strain when viewing a bad screen. Felt my eyes water after a few minutes. Could be that I stared a lot too but it has never happened to me before. I cant believe they release such a bad screen on their flagship laptop. No way I can justify buying one until they have fixed this. I also noticed the lack of sharpness in text etc. Now I need to go back to Microcenter where I don't remember seeing the lines on a 1.8 they got in right before Christmas to make a comparison. But it really shouldn't be a gamble when ordering a MBA whether you get an acceptable screen or not. Compared to the MBP yesterday the MBA was unacceptable. No money from me to Apple at this point.

I have a MacBook with built in webcam, external webcam, and iChat. Next to everyone who has a Mac on iChat is the green box, but there is a phone icon rather than a video icon.
Video chats used to work, but suddenly they stopped. Clicking the green icon next to my name on top opens a box that days "My Build-in iSight" and I can see myself in that webcam, but can not make video chats. How can I fix this?

Elgato products don't do it. TiVo does it but I don't like the monthly fee and they want me to get rid of my Verizon FIOS Box.
What would be even better is a DVR that has a HDMI in and out that connects from my Verizon FiOS HD Cable Box to the DVR then from the DVR into the HDTV.
when using iChat it says in preferences under the video tab that there is no camera attached to the computer. It has as you know the built in web cam, this does work with Photo Booth and some other chat clients.
how to get it working with iChat?
I work from home two days a week and work my ass off for my boss! However, she seems to think I do nothing, mostly because she doesn't understand how many times you replan a financial model before you get it right and how long this takes!
Anyway, I thought if I was able to take a screenshot of my screen every 5 seconds and a shot of myself (through my webcam on my MacBook Pro), then put it into a video, she would be able to see exactly what i do and it would stop her complaining!

I know on their website it says that this webcam is not officially supported by the Mac OS. However I am wondering if there is anyway I could make it work. I would be using it for Facetime, Skype, and Photobooth. I read that you can run the Webcam in UVC mode, but I'm not sure if these applications will still work with it.
