Applications :: Skype IM Stopped Displaying Text Entered
Dec 15, 2009
I've been using Skype for several months now and it works just fine...until now. I mainly use the chat feature to chat with a friend of mine, but out of nowhere it stopped displaying what I was typing. I can hear the sound it makes when you enter a text or receive a message, but it isn't being displayed in the window. I can still use video and the mic to hear them, but the IM doesn't display mine or anyone else's messages.
I have google as my homepage. Whenever I open safari and type in search criteria and hit enter... it "refreshes" the page and clears what I've written. The second time around always works. I don't understand what is happening. And it is not just when I open safari. I can go to google after posting on MR and type in the search box>hit enter>the page flashes as if I had hit the reset button and clears my text>type in the search box again>hit enter - and it work.
I'm getting complaints from customers using Safari on both Mac and Win that our site is rendering fuzzy text. Site is managed using RapidWeaver (great app) on the mac. I'm using Safari 5.1.4 on Snow Leopard and it looks good to me.

I've received an unusual amount of comments about this for last 2 weeks, but can't reproduce.

I have reached this website after scrawling to find a solution on the internet. I hope someone can help me with this problem.I have a 4 years old G4 ibook (OS 10.3.7), and have been using it for internet, skype and foto-storage mainly.Situtation:Yesterday I tried to use the internet (Firefox browser) and skype, but the skype didn't work at all. Since firefox was not working properly either, I did force quit and restarted the computer. I attempted this several times until I could use both applications (never had any problems before). However, Skype didn't work, and in the end, I could not quit firefox at all. At last I did force quit again, and saw white screen with apple icon at the centre when restarting. No time-spinning mark, the apple just sits there.
Troubleshooting that I have done: I called up support center, and they told me that it's very likey that the computer is stopping at "'carnel" stage (I'm sorry but I don't know what this is). The possibility that it's got something to do with HD is 50/50, so I may have to send it to repairing service in the worst case. They told me to try using Disc Install CD1 to check/repair something wrong in my computer. So I followed the instructions and inserted the install CD and restart the computer with "c" key. The computer read the CD and Installer window showed up. As instructed in a manual, I used First Aid in Disc Utility, and tried "repairing disc". After a while it said "1 HFS has been repaired". It also said that Macintosh HD doesn't seem to have a problem", so I quit the disc utility and restarted the computer.
Against my expectation, the same white screen with apple came up on the screen and sits there with no other movements.I'm afraid of trying somethinig without further so I hope I can get the same story or ideas that someone here might have.
On the right hand side of my desktop when I download a program it seems to put an icon or doc on the right hand side. Like right now I have a skype dmg file I can't delete as it says Skype is in use, then right above that is a seperate skype icon that even if I drag to dock it still stays on the right hand side (like a copy), then I downloaded open office again and it put the install icon there (like when you open and you drag your program to teh applications folder)
I had skype on my pc when I was on myspace. Worked great. Now I got my mac and got skype on the mac and now cant communicate with my friends that are using pc. What do I have to do to change this problem?
Contacts entered in iCloud will not sync to Macbook pro.Contacts entered in iPhone do sync to iCloud and vice versa.Items entered in iPhone contacts do not sync with Macbook Pro nor do contacts entered in Macbook Pro sync to iPhone.
I recently changed my hard drive in my macbook, I managed to download my photos on to the macbook but they don't show up in iphoto
I can see them if I go to pictures > iphoto library > originals, but not if I just open up iphoto
I have tried File > import to library, but all I get is a message saying "the following file cannot be imported.(The file is in the iphoto library folder)"
When I access the appications by HD>Users>(my user name)>applications, finder wont display any applications what so ever (in any vew or arrangement selection). However, when I went into preferences and added the applications option to my side bar in finder, it pulled them all up just fine.applications are still able to be accessed by using launch pad as well as from a folder from the dock, the only way they are blank, is by accessing them through the sequence above.

I've recently updated my MacBook Air to the Lion OS (10.7.3). I've been frustrated over the fact that calendar events entered into iCal through my MacBook Air don't appear on my iPhone 4 (running iOS 5.1). However, when I create a calendar event on my iPhone, it does appear in iCal on my MacBook Air.
I've got iCloud running on both devices and have Calendars turned on. Both have the same iCloud account set up in the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" setting.

I have a new macbook pro 15 inch and I downloaded the newest version of skype and I can't get the video to work every time I get "video in use by another application." My ichat and photobooth both work too. I've tried everything even deleting the camcamx5.component file but I don't have it.
I'm trying to install Skype (for mac latest version) on an ibook G4 (running 10.3.9). Should be compatible. It downloads okay. It drags to the applications folder okay. It won't launch, however. If you try and launch it nothing happens. The menu bar doesn't change. Other applications download okay and run okay - but not Skype. I've tried deleting it completely and then downloading it again about 4 times and same problem each time. I tried dragging a shortcut to the dock, too, but it won't launch from that either.
Are iChat and Skype compatible? Some of my family uses Skype, and I have yet to set up my iChat. If I use iChat with AIM, a way to connect with someone using skype?
I installed Skype on my new macbook (13" 2.0 Gz) a few months ago. However, I've had a problem and I just don't know how to fix it! You know when you download an application, it comes onto your desktop and you're supposed to drag the Icon into the Applications file? Well, my Skype won't do that. It will drag into it, but then it says it already exists. Thus, I still have that ugly icon on my desktop instead of the regular one. I've tried to eject and reinstall, but nothing works.
My mother then got a web cam for her PC and all of her friends use skype, so she refuses to download AIM and wants me to download skype.
Anyway, just wanteed to make sure there wasn't anything I should be concerned about with skype - a co-worker of mine said he used skype and it was great.
My safari browser on my iMac hasn't been displaying pages right since yesterday and I cannot figure out whats going on.
I've reseted Safari (cleared cookies, cache) and also tried turning my internet on and off and restarted my mac several times. I've even tried repairing permissions in disk utility.
Firefox and Chrome seem to be working perfectly but Safari will not format the pages the right way, all i mainly get is text unless a picture is linked to another page.
I have the latest version of Safari and am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6
my Safari is displaying fonts in a weird way - [I have to adjust the font size constantly in order to read webpagesIf i enter passwords, no fonts are visible, but i am actually able to enter the password - the cursor stays on the left of the field. What I have tried is changing fonts etc. - nothing helped. The attached picture should show lines of text, but the letters are all written over each other - this is what it looks like
I go to preview a larger thumbnail of artwork in iTunes, it does one of two things. It either shows up extremely large only allowing me to view a small portion of the actual album, or a indescribable pixelated position tracker that reflects whats normally shown in the iTunes window at the top. Hopefully that made sense but I'm curious if I have some virus or something. I've got the latest version of iTunes and all.
The last 2 days my sites in safari haven't been displaying properly. Here's an example:
As you can see the page is displaying in half the window. Other users are having no problem in safari, just me. When I reset Safari the problem seems to go away, only to come back in a couple hours. This problem has only come about in the last couple days, anyone ever have this problem and know how to fix it?
Usually, when you type a word on the search bar, it will display many words that are related to your search, like when I am searching for the word "lamb"...
And it will display the definition when you click on the word.
However, when I use it on my Mac (MacBook Pro 13"), it display nothing, just a blank, like this when I looked at the word "lame"...
In the process of making an iweb site, still alot to do though. Uploaded what i have done so far and have run into a problem when viewing it on my sisters windows computer at work. The page in question is: [URL] The flash window on the left that displays the panoramic looks fine on my laptop with Safari and Firefox, though on my sisters Windows (whom most of my audience will be viewing with) the flash box only comes down to 3/4s of its propper size, exposing the shape i have placed behind it to act as a border. Does anyone have any idea on what may be causing this and maybe a solution? Could it actually be a problem with my sisters work computer?!
