it's possible to view total running time of a video in Quicktime? By that I mean - on the left you can see elapsed time. I'd like to be able to see total time somewhere. Say a movie is 1hr57mins long. I'd love to be able to see that somewhere.
Right now I can only see elapsed time.
I've looked around for a long time, but I haven't seen any program like what I want. I am going to buy a MBP sometime soon and I would like to find a program that keeps track of my TOTAL uptime. Not uptime from last shut-down or restart, the total uptime from first power on until the end. Now as I understand it there is no way for a program to look back at your old usage statistics, but I won't have that problem as I'd install it the minute everything was configured for the first time.
Even if the app just takes all of the restart-to-restart uptimes and adds them together, I'd be happy. I just don't want to do it by hand every day. I'd even settle for a script that takes the last "uptime" terminal command and adds it to a text file every time the machine reboots. I use computers a LOT every day for school and work related things, and I'm curious to find out if a new notebook would increase that number
I'm trying to see the frame number instead of the time. to see the frame number. I believe it was possible for previous versions, but not the latest 10.1 version.

A Mac running windows would be able handle the Total War series of games right? They take a lot of graphics and memory so I just wanted to make sure and see if it would play perfectly just as on a gaming PC.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an iBook G4 that's running Tiger 10.4.11 and the most recent version of Safari and just recently when I try to open up some web pages I get the error message "Safari can't open the page "http://whateverthewebaddressis" because it can't find the server". It will open some pages, some of the time and then a few minutes later if I try to open it again it will give me the error message. It is not a problem with my internet, as I also have a new iMac running leopard and Safari has never had a problem opening the same pages at the same time.

I am using Quicktime Player 10.1 on my MacBook Pro running Lion. I need to be able to adjust the brightness, contrast, colour and speed of the movie file which is palying as a loop. There are no AV controls in 10.1 is there a way round this? I wondered about using Dark Adapted software to correct the visual elements. Or is there another software which might do this or an alternative software to Quicktime to play movies and adjust visual appearance. It is being used as part of an art installation and video work and this type of control is the best option for me. Is it possible to run an earlier version of Quicktime which has the AV controls if I partition my drive and install Leopard or Snow Leopard so that I can run these files as required on my laptop when used within the installation. If I can partition the drive, is it possible to partition the driive without losing eevrything which is currently running on my machine?

I have a MacBook (purchased in May) that has issues with the battery status. When the MagSafe Adapter is plugged in, it shows that the battery is charging, but when the MagSafe Adapter is unplugged from the computer, the computer does not recognize that it is running on battery power. (It still shows that it is running on A/C power.) I have already reset the System Management Controller, and it didn't work. What else can I do?

Macbook Pro Sound has suddenly stopped working
The Sound Settings show no output device. When trying to adjust the sound a circle with a line through it appears. Cannot run the volume adjusted up or down either. Also the sound does not work with a headset either. Have tried PRAM and SMC rest as well as plugging and unplugging headset. Running 10.9.3. Was running fine yesterday - feels like it may be hardware problem?
I have an iMac running the latest version of Lion (10.7.4) and which I have upgraded to a one terabyte hard drive and full memory capability. I back up to a My Book 2 terabyte external hard drive using Time Machine. My iMac is often very sticky, though I've done most of the diagnostics I know of and preferences etc. are seemingly all OK and fcuk -fs gives a positive result! The Mac is often hard to wake from sleep and in particular seems to spend a lot of time backing up very-very slowly, with the result that it frustratingly seems to be backing up most of the time with the consequent effects on using other programs. Also the whole thing seems to grind to a halt after a hard days work with quite a few applications open. I'm wondering what can be causing this and what I can do to overcome this very frustrating and debilitating problem?

I installed 2 x 2gb sticks of ram with the mac ram that was already installed in the computer. I checked to see if the computer recognized the ram and it did recognize it had 6gb installed.
I went to check it again today and noticed that it stated that i had only 4gb installed. I went to check the memory set up in "about this mac" option and clicked memory and noticed it recognized the 4 dimm risers that had the memory installed but the 2gb dimms were stated at 1gb each.
I uninstalled them and installed them again and checked it again where it stated 6gb of ram was installed. I thought i solved it but i just went to check it again and it is again stating i only have 4gb installed ( 4 dimm risers with 1gb installed).

When the MBP is started on the LAN by WiFi it is able to connect to the Internet immediately. However, when I try to connect or see the MBP from another Windows 7 Home computer on the same LAN, it takes approximately 6 to 7 minutes before it shows up in "Network" on the other computer. No "Refresh" will locate it before the time. When I start VMWare and Windows 7 loads, it shows up immediately in "Network".

Performance w/Lion is annoyingly slow. Mac Genius Bar suggested replacing the hard drive....so now I have a and new 160G hard drive.But the Lion is still slower than my attention span can stand! Genius Bar said more RAM would help the performance and speed problem----but advised that this model is not capable of supporting 4 GB.is it? What else can be done? Can not afford a newer MacBook now.Should I just uninstall Lion?
