Some of you may have noticed, but when you save an image with PS, there is no white border around the icon, unlike the default OSX. So I was playing around in Photoshop's preferences, and I figured out how change it to match with other images. To do this, go to Photoshop, then go to Photoshop's preferences>File Handling, and Check off "Never Save" in "Image Preview".
View 1 RepliesFound out that when I installed Flip 4 Mac I also installed silverlight. Uninstalled Flip 4 Mac but siverlight remains and will not uninstall. Also silverlight just comes up as a white page in my Applications folder, not its traditional logo. I have seen the posts on silverlight but is it really needed for my mac? If not how do I get it off.

I have a new MBP. I was trying to transfer stuff from my iMac to the new MBP using a thunderbolt cable and pressing down the 'T' key while restarting my iMac.
Long story short, there was not enough room on my MBP so I just continued on without transferring anything. Disconnected the thunderbolt and my iMac is still on a white screen with a floating thunderbolt. How do I proceed?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't get this. My mom's white MacBook (Intel IGP model) showed an X across the battery like it doesn't work, so I bought her a new battery for it. However, I installed the new battery and it still shows an X but it actually does work. I figured it out by accident. I thought maybe I bought a bad battery. I tripped over the magsafe and the MB stayed on... confused, I am now here. Not finding much about this.
What causes OS X to display an X across the battery icon? Doesn't this usually mean the battery is ruined? When pushing the button on the bottom of the battery, it shows five LEDs as it's fully charged and working. I unplugged it several times, and the MB stays on.
It also reduces the screen brightness and seems to go into battery power saving settings when unplugged. So how do I get OS X to see the battery? It must be charging properly as it's not hot or bulging or anything at all.
The problem is simply that it's not showing the battery information at all as though there were no battery plugged into the MacBook. But it works as though it's plugged in and all is normal?
What is the problem if you have a white screen with question mark in folder icon??

Is there a way to kill the white border that Snow Leopard puts around new image icons? They show up on the Desktop and in Finder windows. Also, now all new raw icons show as generic icons in the dock pop ups. And don't get me started on dumping prefs in Image Capture to set it to open images after download.

My calendar icon on the dock is displaying the date on the red part of the "notepad" rather than in the white blank space.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to print an 11.98x17.97 image on a 13x19 sheet. I specify .51" borders top and bottom, and .52" right and left.
Instead, I am getting a 7.5x10.75" printed image with L 1 1/8" + R 7 1/8" borders and T 1/8" + B 5 3/8" borders. In short, a smaller image, shoved up and left on the sheet. See screen shot below.
Same happened when I tried to print a 4x6 image on an 8.5x11 sheet, until I was told by Kirby to enter the sheet size as a standard 'letter size' sheet instead of entering a custom 8.5x11" size. Is this the same? If so, what's the 'standard' size for 13"x19"?

Backstory: Sunday the updates window popped up so I let it run and reboot. Boot screen is stuck on the white screen with apple logo and spinning icon. None of the typical hotkeys were working like the Shift key to go to Safe Mode. I decided to resinstall Snow Leopard which went perfectly fine since I was able to boot off of the Install DVD. Everything seemed fine after the install and I had all of my previous programs and files.
It worked fine all day yesterday until I shut the lid to leave work. I got home, opened the lid and the spinning mouse icon was continuously spinning. I could move the mouse but couldn't click anything. I shut it down using the power button. Upon booting it up I did not hear the boot up sound but a white screen displayed and didn't do anything from there. I rebooted it again, inserted the Snow Leopard DVD to try and boot off of that and it won't even boot off of the DVD. None of the typical hotkeys work either, not even to eject the DVD. I do hear the DVD spinning up but it doesn't do anything; just a white screen.
I did reset the PRAM which forced it to reboot and I got the startup sound back but it still only shows a white screen. Any ideas? I forgot to purchase Apple Care last month before my 1 year warranty ran out so I'm 1.5 months out of that.
I love Mail but have become bored of the icon. Is it possible to change the icon the the Postbox one? still with the notifications on the dock.

When I go to front row, all my video content plays sound, but the picture is just a pure white screen (shows the slider to move chapters, etc., but the screen is just white).
Any ideas for solutions? I did google searches, etc., to no avail. I have a MP (not early 08), which I upgraded the graphics card to a 2600XT, and it's running Leopard.
Just recently reinstalled Snow Leopard on my built from scratch Mac. And for some weird reason everything I open in the Preview program is just white. Doesn't matter the file and it shows up in the little finder preview and as the icons.
Has me stumped.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix?
A place I can goto reinstall Preview?
Or perhaps a great alternative for the program? I've heard of JView/JustLooking, any opinions on those two programs?
UPDATE: I take back what I said, it only doesnt seem to open image files like tif/jpg... pdfs apparently work fine in preview. And if I have it on a blank image in preview for too long it will crash.
I'm somewhat new to the Mac world and have found my first huge issue that I don't know how to fix. I was recently changing a theme using Magnifique and since doing it have lost access to everything. Nothing will open, if I try I get an "app name quit unexpectedly" dialog box. I have no menu bar, no HDD icons, I am unable to open a finder window or any other applications. I'm completely lost as to what I'm supposed to do.

I recently re-downloaded google earth after I deleted it a while ago. So after downloading it and opening Google Earth I notice that it is quite slow and not nearly as fast as it was when i previously had it. My macbook is a White one with a Core 2 Duo processor and is a late 2006 revision. So does anyone here have any suggestions on why is it slow. I am also wondering if it could be my hard disk, but I doubt it since I haven't had any crashes and I have been staying at a steady amount of space for at least a month.
