Applications :: Mac Compatible Print Quota Software?
Dec 9, 2004
I support a Mac G5 computer lab in a campus setting. The lab is comprised of 30 stations and a G5 running OSX Server doing the back-end user authentication and file serving.
At this point, all of the stations direct IP print to the several printers in the lab. We charge users by the page, and at this point the charging is handled manually.
We have implemented a print quota program in our PC lab with much success (the software is called PaperCut). We have tried to implement the same in the computer lab, but without much luck.
We are looking for a native-Mac solution. The software must be able to:
* Utilize a pre-pay system, allowing users to store credits
* Be able to support multiple printers
* Authenticate users through our OSX server's accounts
The Excel program I'm trying to print Excel 2008, Microsoft Office 2008, identifies the problem as a 'driver' issu and thus will not print the spreadsheets.
i have mac pro with 10.6.2 running and the have a wi-fi router installed to the mac pro via cable ethernet. i also have 2 other computers running windows 7 and they both connect to the internet wirelessly. i want to know if there's a mac program i can installed that allows me to limit the amount of internet usage the other computers are using. the issue is i have a limit of 20GB per month, and would like to let the other computers running windows to each have a internet usage limit of 5GB per month - or if someone knows how to do it via mac os x
We're wanting to get a HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One inkjet printer shared on a network. I bought a Netgear PS121 USB 2.0 printer server which worked with the HP printer and I was able to print to the printer through the printer server over the network from a Windows machine. I tried printing to the same print server from a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger with no success. It appears the HP Photosmart print driver I installed on Tiger didn't install a PPD in CUPS to allow for network printing. When I connect the Photosmart printer directly to the Mac-mini, I can print just fine. When it's connected to the print server, the print server rejects the print job.
When I define the print server to the Mac-mini, Tiger wants to use the Generic Postscript driver. I define the print server using the IPP printer definition area.
I tried installing Bonjour for Windows XP on the Windows machine and using that to print to the HP Photosmart printer when it was physically connected to the Mac-mini and I WAS able to print a test page once but I made the stupid mistake of changing the printer driver on Windows that was setup by Bonjour and I haven't been able to print to the Bonjour shared printer since.
I just recently bought a Macbook Pro, i7 intel computer. I have a Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II that I have been using just as a printer, however I'm wondering about being able to use the Easy Photo Print Pro software from Canon software so that I would be able download photos to my computer? If so, what supporting program or software do I need to install first from Apple? Can I use this Canon software so that I can use the Pixma as a scanner than upload to my computer so that I can edit my photos? I'm new at Apples and Scanners, so I'm not sure that this is possible.
Camino is my favorite browser, but its one big problem is that is uses up way too much of my memory. Is there any way to make it use more virtual memory and less physical - i.e., a memory quota? What would be the repercussions of doing this be?
Is there a way to force Safari to print what I see on a webpage, and not default to the print style? I'm trying to print a graphically-rich site and the print.css doesn't cut it, making everything look like trash (unformatted text, etc.).
I want to connect a wireless Epson XP 510 printer. Installed drivers from the Epson website but they do not appear to be compatible according to the drop down list in the apple menu for adding a printer.
I have set up an Imap account using my Mac Mail (Version 3.6 (935/935.3)). It all works great, and so forth except that somewhere along the lines my mail is being deleted off the server. It's important to note that this is NOT deleted mail - which should be, and is being, deleted - but mail I wish to keep. I cannot decipher exactly how it decides what to delete, but I seem to have quota's enforced - but when I try to set quota's (under -> account info -> quota's ) I cannot set anything.
It tells me that "this account supports quota limits", but it won't let me adjust them? As best I can tell it's deleting mail older than 1 month or 200 messages or a size (indeterminable). I sync with my iPhone mail app, also using the Imap, and it has an option to "display" xxx messages. Currently this is set to 200 (the max option), I cannot deselect it and cannot select more than 200. I figure, however, that this refers to how many messages are displayed on my phone, not the limit stored on the server.
This account has exceeded the iCloud quota. Please contact customer support. How can I determine what data limits have been exceeded? And in what categories? I don't think I've exceeded any capacity limits.
Is there any thing available that will allow me to print to a PDF file? I'm trying to export something to a PDF file that does not have the feature as standard. I know it can be done in Windows as there are a few Print to PDF applications. but I can't find a Mac one.
I have recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and am now having problem with my hp 4500 office jet printer. The print icon tends to stay on the dock after the print job is done and then mess up the print queue. Even worse if I forget to cancel it manually then when I put the computer on 'sleep' the printer starts up again and the whole job is rerun unless I get to cancel it quickly on the printer! Â
It does not always do this (the print icon disappearing as it should do), but for 90% of the time it does.Â
Just a heads up to all fellow Mac users that Channel 4 On Demand is now available to us. It's been a while in coming, but that means for anyone in the UK the 4 main channels are all available for catch-up online for Mac users. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/catch-up
using a newsreader, preferably one which supports NZBs, under Leopard? I've been using iGrabnews until today, but can't get the latest version to work under Leopard.
Does anyone know of a list of apps updated specifically for Snow Leopard? More specifically, there is a 64-bit version of iTunes for Windows; will Apple release a 64-bit version for Snow Leopard?
So I've never encountered this problem before, but I'm trying to edit some video that came off of a camera that encodes everything as a .mov file and final cut pro doesn't recognize .mov files. Is there an easy way to encode these to something else?
So, I am applying for a job at Staples (low I know, but I'm starting grad school in the fall so hopefully it will get better), but to search their jobs and access their online application you need to you either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator....
Not even PCs really use those anymore! Since I have a mac, I do not have access to either of these browsers. I feel like I should boycott applying to Staples just for this.
Is there some sort of free app I can download to make Safari or Firefox be compatible like Explorer? Or do I need to go and borrow a friend's computer?
I have recently run a 13 page excel spread sheet for a budget on Windows and on transferring it to Numbers on my new mac, one of the formulas is not compatable. this is what I do. There is a balance figure on each of pages 2 to 13 which are then required to be transferred as a total figure in one of the columns on page 1.
This was the formula on windows: =SUM(xmas:Savings!F2)
I have a bunch of videos that I recorded on my windows computer, they're in an uncompressed AVI format (huge files). Since I wanted to use iMovie 09 for the editing I decided to convert them to mp4 using VisualHub (to compress them and so they would work with iMovie) and they seemed to work fine, I could still see the video on Quicktime. The problem is that I still can't add them to iMovie. Whenever I add one of these videos as mp4 or dv (I've tried both) they go through the process of adding them to iMovie (copying, creating thumbnails, etc.) and then when it's finished, that's it. No video is actually added to the event. It happens all the time no matter what other options I change when converting the file. And by the way, I noticed the "Show All Clips" option at the bottom of the iMovie main window, it's not that. Anyway, here's the info on one of the files (from the Quicktime X info page of the video):
File: Video 4.mp4 Format: H.264, 800 x 600, Millions, AAC, 2 channels, 44100 Hz FPS: 30 Data Size: 84.3 MB Data Rate: 4,505.10 kbit/s (This file goes through the process when I add it to iMovie, but doesn't actually get added). Some of them have an 840 x 524 size instead of 800 x 600, but they still fail to get added to iMovie properly.
I am about 2 days away from making my camcorder purchase(for my honeymoon) and have been researching both the Canon HF S200 & Panasonic HDC-TM700k for about a week now. When it comes to camcorders, I prefer to stick with Canon. BUT from what I've seen, I think the Panasonic is an overall better camera. That being said I have read that Panasonic uses their own proprietary format when using it on the highest quality setting( 1080p at 60p )and that it is not recognized by virtually any editing software(on the mac).I have read the Apple Support forums including the AVS forum. Turns out there are several workarounds using other software for conversion(ex Toast), but I'm looking for the simplest of methods as I will be importing a tremendous amount of footage to be put onto Blu-ray(hopefully in the near future). I really don't want a "speed bump" in the way and would prefer to have a more "integrated" experience.
im pretty much dumb when it comes to my new mac and im having problems with my ichat, it wont let me video chat with my girl, it worked yesterday but now its saying somethign along the lines of, your computer isnt compatable with video chat, or something like that
I been using iSquint, because it is the best free converter software I KNOW, but it doesn't convert the rmvb files, and I would love to watch Dexter on my HDTV via PS3. Can anyone please suggest an application compatible with rmvb?
