Applications :: Extracting Audio From Video Files - Handbrake Or Otherwise
Oct 28, 2009Does anyone know how to extract audio from video files? I can't seem to do it from within the Handbrake GUI - is there a command line way of doing it? Otherwise, what's a program that can do it? Obviously I could use Audio Hijack, but I'd rather not have the quality loss that comes with re-encoding.

May 29, 2010I want to convert some video files (specifically swf in this case) to audio files so I can listen on my iPod. I looked everywhere and can't find some free software that does that. There are tons that have trial periods with lots of limitations (like it won't convert anything larger than a 5k size file) so I don't want those because I won't know if the thing works well unless I pay for it. I'm not opposed to paying for a converter IF I know it works awesome on a Mac.

Mar 15, 2010Recently my 3 year old MBP has lost its video capability. I took it to my local Apple store and apparently its a logic board issue which is going to cost $1400 to fix. Unfortunately I can't justify spending even more dough then I already have on the notebook for service.
So.. what I'd like to do is extract my iTunes library and various other documents. This must be possible, but I'm not sure how to approach it.
Currently the MBP boots just fine, and the only issue is video - so I'm hoping I can still extract the information without having to resort to removing the HDD.

Oct 11, 2010I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?

May 5, 2009I'm having this issue with imovie 09 where when I export the movie project, the audio and video is out of sync starting at this specific area. What's odd though is that it plays fine while I'm editing in imovie but when the movie is exported, the file is messed up. I tried exporting using Quicktime and exporting the movie normally. I also tried replacing the clip where the problem with the audio started but it's still the same. I'm really upset because I spent hours editing this project but.

Jan 4, 2011When I go to tag a movie encoded with 0.9.4 x86_64 with any program it does not work. For a while MetaX would corrupt the file. Through searching I found that if I checked the 'Large file size 64bit' check box it would play the video, but no audio. If I open the .m4v file in VLC everything works fine, audio and video. I tried Vindalin (or whatever) and iFlicks with the same results. Actually when I ran the script with iFlicks it didn't add the album art of anything in iTunes, but same story...video, but no audio. 95% of the movies I have are encoded with Handbrake and from what I have searched this seems to be the common link.

However, all my files are MPEG2, and so far, I have had a very frustrating experience with trying to figure out how to play it back on Quicktime with Audio. I downloaded Pro, as well as the MPEG2 add on. It plays video fine, but can someone please tell me how to get it to play audio step by step?
Lastly, I have Final Cut and iTunes and audio won't play with the video there either. I am assuming once I have it fixed in quicktime, it will work in all other programs too?

I installed Window Vista using boot camp. I then also but the mac cd in to download the drivers for windows.
My Problem is that while trying to view a video on the internet, such as a video from youtube, after a few seconds my explorer (or firefox) will crash (yes i have tried both). Also My Itunes with start to sound bad when I do anything else on my computer other than just listen to music and sometimes itunes will just stop in the middle of a song but say its still playing. Plus when i am trying to listen to something online the sound will go in and out.

Feb 8, 2009I never noticed this on my last hp laptop but my new dell almost everything in itunes plays with the audio out of sync with the video. most noticeable on podcasts. my dell is not high end but it has duel core amd 64 4400 chips 2 gigs of ram. running xp. it has a built in nvidia geforce 6150l video card with a built in sound card. it has done this since I got it a month ago. it is not an issue playing dvd's in windows media player. just itunes. any clues?

May 12, 2009I just got a brand new iMac '09 with. I love it already but the only problem I seem to be having is iDVD. I got a movie that is about 700 MB, and would like to burn it onto DVD. First iDVD was saying its too large for the 4.2 GB DVD, so I selected high quality instead of previously selected Best Performance. That fit the movie onto the DVD. Once the encoding was done, I burned it. However now, when I play in on my DVD player, there is no video (green screen) and sound is all scrambled. Same thing when I play in on the iMac. I then noticed that already on the preview menu (under media) the movie is played with no video and damaged audio. Also, when it was finished burning on the dvd, iDVD kept asking for blank recordable DVDs to be inserted, which after two ruined dvds I cancelled.
