Is there a Safari 5 download for Version 10.4.11?I have Safari 4 now on my iMac and I like it. I would like to upgrade it to Safari 5.I had Safari 4 on my 5 yr. old Toshiba and on a newer Asus netbook and upgraded to Safari 5 with no problems. I save lot of links and l am used to saving and retrieving data from Safari. I like a couple changes that are on Safari 5 and would like to get them on my iMac.
View 8 Repliesi have a G4, serial number qt21106cl3v. i just installed os x 10.2.3. i cant get on fb or any site that uses flash. it says for me to download shockwave. ive tried and it wont install. i tried to download a new browser, like firefox, or another version of safari and i have no luck.
i cant decide whether its a virus or what. i just got the computer from a yard sale and its in excellent condition. i had to reinstall os x though cuz it had no os. any ideas?? you can find additional info by searching for specs through the serial. i have no prior knowledge of macs and am trying to learn quickly.
also, as in the heading, safari keeps crashing when i try to download any kind of new browser, and the auto updates arent working either.

Today it bounces twice and nothing.I started reading some stuff in mac forums and read what others with a similar problem were saying. They said ichat and itunes were not working either. I checked mine and lo and behold mine weren't working either. How are these applications all connected? I tried to check for software updates for Safari from my computer but when I tried that, the software update icon appeared in my dock, bounced once, shrunk and disappeared. It wouldn't open either.I am using firefox currently. I had not used it for a long time, so when I opened it last night, it asked me to update flash. I did. But I don't see how that could be the problem since I updated flash AFTER realizing safari wouldn't open.

View 2 Replies View RelatedLike an idiot I thought I'd try switching user agents as I was messing around with iPhone optimising a few web pages. So I saw in Safari 4.0.4 on my iMac, the Develop menu, where I changed the user agent to "iPhone xxx". I then switched back to auto detecting user agent. Ever since then, the google.co.uk page has screwed up, as it always loads in mobile view, and not the classic view it used to: This is what I always get now whenever I visit google.co.uk: When I click on the "Classic View" link, I get this page, which displays correctly: Notice the extra text in the URL... which I shouldn't have to put that everytime! Strangely google.com loads up fine: I have deleted all cookies associated with "google" and also rebooted my iMac, but still google.co.uk defaults to the classic view. I tried forcing the User Agent to Safari 4.0.4, but it didn't make any difference as it still loads in mobile view! Here are the cookies I have now which relate to google.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a real odd problem with safari 4. For some reason it is cutting my download speeds in about 1/2 from my server and many other places.
If I restart safari I will be able to download close to my 18 Mbps for a little bit but then it will just start to slow down and after about 30 minutes it will be down to about 6 - 8 Mbps.
mac os x version 10.5.8 - safari version 5.0.6 safari will shut down sometimes, a small window pops up, it reads your adobe flash player 10.4/10.5 may be the problem. i've been to adobe for help & got nowhere

In any case, about twice when I was browsing from the proxy site, a file named "About-Blank" (not exe, don't know what they where) was downloaded to my "Downloads" folder. I deleted the files and that was that, I was just wondering how is it that safari downloaded a file without prompting me? and could there be any repercussions for my system?

I used it for two reasons: to open new pages in tabs rather than windows, and to autoclose the downloads window after the downloads have finished. Now, the first reason no longer exists as Safari 5 has this functionality built in. Unfortunately, retaining Saft dramatically messes up the tab functionality, so I don't use it anymore. I still hate it that Safari keeps the download will open indefinitely, though. I know SafariStand provides the option to have the download window close, but SafariStand is much much more than I need.
Now, I know Safari 5 has a new extension functionality, but I'm no programmer myself. My question is whether anybody knows about a small extension that adds the possibility to have the download window close automatically after the downloads close, and not much more?

In order to install Windows 7 via bootcamp, do you have to use the full version of windows or can you use the upgrade disc to install? I figured I should ask before buying another license as I have an upgrade version of Windows 7 Pro that I don't use. I do own previous versions of Windows (all of them....just like I do Mac OS).

When I try to install X11 it says "cannot download as newer version installed".
I have downloaded Gimp, dragged it over to "Applications" and the installation asks for X11 "where is X11?" and I cannot find it!

I've been a Mac user for a few years now, and really love the apps on the Mac, and 99% of the time, never need anything thats on Windows. However, the time has come that I need to open a windows app via Darwin. Its asking me to install x11.app - which I've tried to do, but when I download it, it says there is already a newer version installed. I've never heard of, let alone installed x11.app before, so this confused me a little.
I've come onto these forums, and had a little search, to which I found out that you need to do something with the original OS disks to install x11.app via the install disk. I no longer have the install disks - I moved house 6 months ago, and had 3 boxes lost in transit, (Including my PS3, nearly 50 games a DVD player and all CD's / DVD's ) - and have never recovered them.
Is there any other way I can get this app to install?
