Sep 21, 2009I'm trying to send a receipt for a product in to get a replacement. I bought it online, so the receipt is in email form. So how can I fax it from my computer for free?

View 1 RepliesFor some reason I'm not aware of, I cannot send faxes from my computer. I've checked the settings in system prefs and they all look OK. The modem sounds when connecting to send, then the fax is stopped; no alert, nor an explanation telling me something is wrong. Each time I want to fax a document I get the same result: no fax goes out; the fax list shows the job was stopped and put on hold till a later time. After resuming, the fax still does not go through. The settings in Print and Fax are supposedly correct: all jobs are to be sent using internal modem (driver version 1.0; PPD file version 1.0).
The document I need to fax shows in the print dialog window that it will use the internal modem, it will not wait for dialing tone (not alwayws, see below), will use tone dialing, with the sound on.After starting the job, sound comes on and I can hear the modem dialing, the fax status in the menu bar shows "connecting" for some time, then there is no more sound, and the job stops.I've tried faxing to a different number, and the same thing happens. There is something I've noticed that may have a lot to do with the problem:When the modem starts, "the modem could not detect a dial tone" shows up, although I've unchecked "Wait for dial tone before dialing."Fax and internal modem icons show an exclamation point. The Fax List window shows the internal modem stopped. The Internal Modem window show no active jobs; the document I've tried unsuccessfully to fax shows in completed jobs.
If I try to resume faxing while in the Internal Modem window, the Stop Jobs icon is highlighted with a red exclamation point. Cannot even delete the "stopped job."Sys Prefs>Print & Fax>Fax tab>Set up Fax Modem... button, gives me a Fax list Window where I can highlight it there & Start/Stop jobs shows; double clicking on the name will open another WindowThis window shows Delete, Hold, and Resume icons grayed out, therefore they are non-functioning.Only Start Jobs is fully shown, but clicking on it brings back the Stop Jobs icon.
I?ve tried resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.4.11I tried reinstalling OS 10.4.11 combo update as a last resort in order to see whether it would correct the problem.Tried sending another fax to my office but it didn't go through.Again, it shows as a stopped job in the "internal modem" window saying it could not detect a dial tone. This "dial tone detection" alert also shows when:1 - sending a fax from an application such as TexEdit, in the pull down modem window and it does not matter whether I deselect it; it just keeps on showing again. The modem shown on this window is "Internal Modem" and there is an exclamation mark next to the name;2 - looked at modem settings probably in system prefs (I forget exactly where) and deselected it but it keeps showing when setting up the document to fax.I know the modem shouldn't be "paused." It should be "idle" but:? Clicking on "set up fax modem" in system prefs brings the fax list up where Internal modem shows "stopped", not "idle." This window shows "Delete", "Show info", and "Start Jobs" after having deleted the fax which I was not able to send.? The fax list of Internal modem shows all faxes I've tried to send as "cancelled" and this list is not editable.
? If I try to resume faxing while in the Internal Modem window, the "Stop Jobs" icon is highlighted with a red exclamation point. Cannot even delete the "stopped jobs" from before the OSX re-installation.
? Also before the re-installation, only "Start Jobs" was fully shown, but clicking on it brought back the "Stop Jobs" icon.In any case, things keep being pretty much as they were before the re-installation.Does anything above tell you what is going on? I wonder what is going on here and whether someone has a clue about it and how to overcome the glitch.iMac 2GHz power PC G5; Mac OS X (10.4.11); 250GB HD; 300GB and 160GB FW external drives; HP Deskjet 6988 printer; Epson Perfection 1260 scanner

I have been trying to send videos from my photo booth album, i've tried more than once, and various videos. But, on the receiving hand, they are not able to open it because "it's not compatible" with their computer. They do not have an Apple computer, but how could I convert the video into a file they can open and view?

If anyone on here uses aim, have you had issues since using Leopard sending files on AIM(AOL instant messenger)? I am unable to send anyone any type of file on there. I can receive, but I am unable to send anyone anything....any suggestions? I can send files through yahoo...so I'm not too sure why AIM hates me so much.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have all my music on an external HD that I've used for a few years. I told my old computer (1GHz TiBook G4 with Tiger) to export my iTunes library, which it did, as a .xml file. Then, I opened that file on my new iMac, and only about 1/5 of the songs were found, apparently. This doesn't make sense to me, as the iMac is connected to the HD when I import the old library. If it makes a difference, the TiBook was NOT connected to the HD when I exported the library. I have the two computers networked together via Ethernet right now, though.

Four accounts are on Verizon, two on GoDaddy. Web mail works on all, Blackberry email works. Mac Mail does not. I have talked to Verizon (my ISP), taken my Mini to a Mac repair shop -- even installed a new (bigger) hard drive. I'm using Leopard, OS 10.5.8. I've tried setting authentication on. I've tried turning authentication off.
Every once in a while, one or two messages in the outbox will suddenly send, while the rest of the messages don't go anywhere. At the repair shop, the tech worked most of the day before getting them to send (one test message from each account), declared the computer fixed and sent it home. Once it was home and plugged in again, I was able to send one test email before it quit sending again.
I've been using mail for a while and have been having problems sending mail from it using my isp's settings. i just got a mobile me trial account to see if I could use that to send email from the app. That was another no no. So I tried to reset mail so I could start a fresh by deleting the mail folder in the library. Now when I open the app it auto add the mm account and only has an inbox, no other options down the left hand side etc and still tries to connect to my old isp's smpt settings. Im looking for a way to reset mail to fresh.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have bought Adobe Creative Suite 5 recently. It contains Acrobat Pro 9, instead of the newly released version X. That's okay with me, although I was a little disappointed when us CS5 buyers couldn't get a discount on Acrobat Pro X. No, the reason I'm calling out is because Acrobat's new icon is perfectly in line with the icons of the style of the main CS5 applications. They look like little books, while the Acrobat Pro 9 icon still has that flat style of CS4. Could somebody send me the new Acrobat icon? Doing so would be really simple. Copying and pasting the icon onto an empty folder, zipping said folder and uploading the resulting ZIP file.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently set up an email account through my website hosted by fxdomains.com
I've set up my email account in both Apple Mail and Thunderbird:
Incoming: pop.secureserver.net
Outgoing: smtpout.secureserver.net
After setting up through Apple Mail, I can send emails perfectly.
After setting up through Thunderbird, can't send any mail Any mail I try to send just times out.
I prefer to use Thunderbird. What seems to be the problem with this?
Everyone I work with Hates MSWord, but it is the industry standard and we're all stuck with it. But, perhaps "hate" is an inadequate despription?
Primarily writing proposals/reports. I'm not sure I can adequately describe how much my co-workers loathe MSWord. The way it constantly moves graphics to the edge of the page, the way it randomly reformats entire sections of the document, the utter incompatibility with the PC version - destroying graphics on every version, the menus that can't be undone and the way MS decided to reorganize the commands so nothing can be found. Very few things in life create a level of emotion that this software does to the team members. Maybe road-rage comes the closest, although I can't say I've ever seen anyone as mad at someone cutting another off as the team is mad at MS.
I guess my team feels like Michael Vick's dogs. They are trapped with no hope of getting out, forced to face the software every day. And no matter how hard they fight to make things work, they are destined to the pain and suffering forced on them by the MS developers. (disclaimer: analogy for dramatic impact, no dogs-of-proposal-writing were physically harmed in the making of this analogy).
My question is, how do we relate our dissatisfaction to MS? They appear to have no feedback mechanism (perhaps from this we can deduce why their product is so abysmal)? Or maybe someone has a suggestion to free me and my fellow team members from MS-Vick's kennel?

I type in the correct password and Mail asks for it again and so on and so on.

I cannot see what I am doing wrong. In Outlook Express there was an option to enter yout smtp settings and then there was also a section for your ISP requires authentication. In that you would either click use the same settings or you would enter in different settings, if sending your mail through a different ISP. I also have accounts with other ISPs so would need to do same in Mail but I'm not sure how. Having said that, if I solve the current problem it would more than likely resolve the other one. I've tried pinging smtp.wanadoo.co.uk but nothing happens. However I can ping mail.btinternet.com so I know one of my ISPs works at least. Orange status line says the broadband service is working without any problems so unless that's false info, I'm doing something wrong.
I have an e-mail that I tried to send using Mail 3.6. I accidently selected it to send from an account that has an error with the outgoing mail server. Usually when this happens and the error box pops up I just choose another server. The problem is that the email was going to a whole list of people and the options are lost at the bottom of the screen. I can't access the buttons. I have had this message on my screen now for over a month.

I noticed Tunnelblick doesn't have an option to "send all traffic over VPN" like say Viscosity does, I would use Viscosity but I'm on a 64 bit kernel and Viscosity has no support for that, I know there are several guides but they don't work. So simply, how do I know if Tunnelblick is sending all traffic over VPN or not?

I want to send this to someone with a Windows PC for them to view, but I do not want to burn it onto a disc because I need to send it overseas and it would take a considerably long time.
Is there any way I can convert the iDVD project to another file extension so I can email it to this person? Or, if I go back into the project is there a way to just save it under a more common file extension?
I was looking around in mail and I think it is really cool that u can add your own sound for when you receive a new email. 2 things would be nice. 1) Add a sound for each individual contact. 2) Mail sends you a txt message when you receive an email.
